I’m currently in my second spring as a broken cyborg. Only bad bionic left is the pixel-vision thingy.

I had to grind first aid up high enough to make first aid kits, and I had to grind survival up high enough to MAKE BLOODY ASPIRIN to make them. Found a few first aid kits (and some aspirin) after I had gotten the worst of them out, but man, that was a pain.

I did have 90 cotton balls in the lab I started in, which helped a lot in staying alive when I botched bionic removals… Finding some cotton seeds in a farm not too ridiculously far away (not really close…) helped a lot, too… eventually.

Just about have my first ArmoredMeCarrier ready to go. v12 engine, large electric motor… only 3 solar panels (and I made one of those). A bit short on armor, and NO cargo carriers yet, but I’m getting there.

Finally got a lucky start in the really bad day challenge (starting at night is a huge help) and let me say, worth every bit of frustration. My 14/14/10/14 krav maga using character is now pretty bad ass in day 21. I have found some absolutely awesome CBM’s even though I can only install the lower tier ones right now.
Also killed a bunch of survivor zombies in a basement and got my favorite SWAT armor out of it. So now I’m just gonna continue clearing this massive city I’m in and stay away from tank drones.

just don’t get surrounded by an infinite wall of slime and youll be fine, probably, also avoid tankbots.

I’ve just completely cleared out a mansion of zombies with a nailgun I found on the corpse of one of the first zeds I killed inside the mansion.
(Lovingly nicknamed it “The Hammer.”)
I’m now searching for a sharp object to butcher all the corpses with, and after that I’m going to see if I can’t fortify this place.

Glass shiv and stone knife work in a pinch

As for Ragnar, I’ve raided the cabin.

I now have more essence, To Master The Unknown, and The Six Pillars. No real entry-level arcana books yet.

I remember when I used to plink zombies with nail guns, real High school of the Dead feels.

My first npc since the death of my starter noc died…but my most loyal npc has their legs back!!!

I also tested something, I went in and killed a lone zombie with a nail rifle and a nail gun, both did an average of 4-8 close range, and about 1 a few tiles away.
I then tested an easier weapon, a sling which uses pebbles as ammunition (I think lead balls/bullets should be used too for extra damage, like an FMJ or Hollowpoints would for guns.) anyway the ammo’s super cheap - just a rock and something with hammering of 1 (Like another rock.) The skills used are throwing and marksmanship. It did around 8 damage far away and more than 17 at close range.

Slings are super cheap to make. Just a leather patch and 20 thread or 3 long strings or 18 small ones.

Tested the power of the sling with 0 strength, still did about 14-26 points of damage, killed this zed in 3 hits versus the 10+ with the nail gun. So the power isn’t effected by strength of the user.
I also tested the power of the atlatl with various spears. Wooden javelins did about 8, stone and iron did an average of 14. Sling still beats it.
Tested the sling with 0 marksmanship and throwing.
Still did very well, max of 20 damage. My stats are 14/12/12/8

For the record, my current character’s throwing and marksmanship for both is 3. Current build 0.C 3840

Found History of Alchemy and other fun things in a mansion. Using a solar car, intend to skirt along the river bank to get around the impassible woods I had to walk through initially.

Abandoned plan to clean the mansion after three nights of raiding. There’s a fcking zombie master in the south portion of the mansion. Updating the experimental from build 3823 to today’s (3850) sseemingly fixed the problem of the master upgrading a normal Z to a second fcking master in one fell swoop, but even without the bug, I just ran out of there as fast as I could. Bad news is, I left all my arrows behind.

I will probably try the sling tip, I have some damaged leather clothes from Zs and my throwing is 8 already since in the early game, my only recourse was “throw stones at stuff”.

Sounds about right, though I’ve managed to get up to my preferred light survivor gear getup, so I can go wading through them without much trouble.

Still not going to go tango with the milspec turret and anti-materiel turret I saw in the middle of town, though. “You hear an explosion to the southeast! You hear an explosion to the southeast! You hear an explosion to the southeast!..” Going to have to figure out a very long-range answer to that one, but the only gun shop is on the far side of the city.

Started working on my base…

I’d like to add turrets to ensure the slimes don’t come this far north, but don’t have the recipe for making Fire control systems. Anyone happen to know what I need for that? (in version 4cfcafe Edit: IIRC it’s the experimental from the morning of Nov. 3rd)
