I just built my first vehicle from scratch with rollers in front and 6k storage in the back.
Edit: I just abandoned my first vehicle halfway buried in the rubble that was a house.
I hope you plan on returning to get it back and out of said ruined house. In my experienced if a roller equipped vehicle capable of moving at an appreciable speed get’s stuck somewhere you can almost always remove the rollers and use the extra horsepower you just freed up to get out.
Or just burn the house down.
Well, I’ve built a knockoff of the Dodge Tomahawk. With half the cylinders, admittedly, but it’s still pretty fast and it’s got great range. Also have a mobile gun system sitting outside that I still need to part out into a new vehicle/steal guns off of.
And my mansion room is pretty much the same as it’s always been, but I’ve got a GREAT stockpile going here.
All in all, Marshal Samatha (typo’d it) Norman is doing pretty well for herself, I’d say. 20-day months, so I’m on day 24 right now, sitting on a good pile of materials and guns. Just got an Integrated Toolkit bionic, too, so I can do some proper vehicle scrapping and rebuilding. Next time I play, I’m setting out on the Tomahawk with the intention of gathering food; I’m down to about 2 days’ worth of food and a year or so of water.
Thinking my latest vehicle overhaul would take a few less IG days than it did I foolishly ignored a nearby fungal spire. Not long after they put down the new carpet there were just so many of them that it was bogging down my game.
Almost felt bad for the little buggers when I busted out the chemical spray and Jerrypack.

I’ve been skipping over suits of heavy power armor like garbage for eons now but still haven’t seen one helmet or frame. This is absolutely ridiculous. Why is it still like this?

I have the same issue. I’d be happy with crafting a makeshift one from the 4 light power armor I have. 1/2 the stats would be fine.
I figure I’ll find one and when I wear it will say “The helmet is too small for your head” and I am not mutated.
Or “this frame requires AAA batteries…”
Or you might find there’s still a zombified head in it. XP
