Definitely convinced now that the NPC spawn rate is affected by all the NPCs in the refugee center and outpost. Far from those two places, and NPCs are popping up like mycus.
Speaking of mycus, my last few starts have all involved trying to test a mod that removes fungal areas. So much failure. ;A;
Seriously, like mycus. I kill one, butcher them, and all off a sudden there’s another bozo who wants to talk but actually wants to rob me. And I already lowered NPC spawn rate to .5. Be careful of what I wish for, huh…
Maybe now the NPCs are giving off spores too?
You heard a noise! Stop crafting? [y/n]
GO AWAY ZOMBIES I’M TURNING BOOZE INTO STRONGER BOOZE TO MAKE CANISTERS FOR MY CANNONS
You heard a noise! Stop crafting? [y/n]
-Loud noises of irritation and hissing-
You heard a noise! CHECK IT OUT YOU TIT [y/n]
-louder noises of stfu-
SERIOUSLY. CHECK IT OUT. [y/n]
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFINE. -Turns on security cameras to a goddamn horde- [sub]…oh…[/sub]
[sub]Thump.[/sub]
Thump.
THUMP.
Ignoring the swarm only annoys them more.
EDIT: Made another attempt at a juvenile delinquent. Had a bad time getting some decent clothes and supplies. Then I found a certain Fun thing in the fungal bloom, and I’ve never played with it before, so.
“Hey, shrooms! I wonder if these are the fun kind. They look kinda like berries though.”
Spoiler because Fun and screenshot:
“I…I…I thought you were a GEP Gun.”
EDIT 2: Ahahahah! You can’t stop me now.
More spoilers:
“I…I…we…yessss…”
EDIT 3: Also, we derped and forgot we must harvest the bush we were sitting on, before we could ascend.
EDIT 4: We feel kinda pukey…
More derp:
After a few attempts, I’ve gotten a good run. I’m just remembering my survival tactics now. It helps that I’ve settled down outside a mansion! I daren’t settle inside the mansion, lest one broken window too many collapse it, however it has an indoor pool, so I’ve got a steady nearby source of water (Mmmm, chlorine.) So I’m settled down in a family-size tent just outside the mansion, I’m fairly confident the place is clear, and once I’ve trained my tailoring a bit more I might head further into town to see what I can find.
To the north of my tent I found an artifact - a pin that makes my skin itch when I get near it. It reduces my dexterity by 3 when I hold it, hits me with pain at random intervals, and when activated, it makes the ground and walls around me bleed. I promptly threw it in a bush and set the bush on fire because [size=36pt]nope.[/size]
Pretty sure broken windows don’t cause buildings to collapse.
I’ve heard the contrary over IRC when it comes to mansions - a large number of their outer walls are windows, hence if a bunch of zombies bust through those windows, there’s a potential risk of collapse. For some reason.
We are having a hard time sleeping. Zombies make such terrible neighbors.
EDIT: We have a rapier now. Swiggity swooty.
And now back to your regularly-scheduled derpdragon.

I’m not even sure what there is to say.[/quote]
Much more fun to open the door and look outside to a sea of slime. Then you have that thought of “Hmn… …I went to sleep near a slime pit…”
And then you close the door and set fire to everything.
Tried going full speed through an ant hill with the berser-kar. Not a lot of damage on the car, and a lot of dead ants. So much chitin to harvest, until I get tired and just pulp them all with the roller. Wanna try plowing through a forest next time.
Yeah that’s not going to end well. Sorry to ruin it for you but for the most part look at it like this:
(7) Trees: Expect 50% to 75% slowdown on impact with more than one, you can probably plow through one or two at once with a decent sized vehicle.
(1) Small Trees: 40% to 15% slowdown on impact with more than one, a decently sized vehicle can pretty much negate this
(#) Any Bush/Shrub: Unless you’re at a stop or going extremely slow this isn’t a problem, however if you are CONGRATULATIONS ON DISCOVERING A FIXED POINT IN THE UNIVERSE. Attempting to move this shrub /actually/ moves the universe around it, scary isn’t it? But it’s the only explanation for why you can’t get past a shrub short of “Secretly there’s a million Diglets under your vehicle holding it in place.”
I finally finished an electric camera operated vehicle converted from a fire truck. Everything ignores me, it makes 1 sound moving 9 mph, 3 sound moving 19 mph, 5 at 29 mph. The most I’ve had to deal with is a random cougar wanders around the door then leaves.
The really fun part is hitting a zombie with the vehicle at 9 mph, then hit with the water cannon to stun it, then it acts like nothing happened at all.
The problem with trees is that they don’t really take damage… unless you do enough of it, at which point they shatter. Vehicles, in turn, can lose control even at low speeds, which is what happens eventually when you ram trees repeatedly. You might even end up getting stuck in a bad position after “sliding out of control”, forced to either step out and chop down the trees blocking your movement or risk damaging unintended parts of the vehicle if you decide to break free with brute force, by increasing throttle. You can’t really “mow” trees like they’re grass. You ram them one after another, and while doing so, your vehicle will sustain substantial damage. It’s the sort of damage that’s OK if there’s only 1-3 trees.
Trees are nasty tough. Seriously, they’re even immune to most weapons, including turbolaser turret (50 damage + explosion). You can shoot a tree all you want, but if you’re not doing enough damage, it’s not going to go away.
If anyone can think of a weapon that’s economically viable for tree removal, do tell.
Well of course that’s the reason.

If you have enough bionic power, the sonic resonator has a decent chance to shatter trees.
I had no problem with tree’s in a forest with rollers in front.
- You need to go a steady 39-49mph.
- you need power to keep it going. 1 v8 will not be enough, need a v12 or multiple engines.
- Keep going.
I created a 7 roller highway after 1-2 viewable map screens I usually stop and repair the rollers from maybe 2/3 back to full.
When the vehicle weighs 14+ tons, not much stops it.
