What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Why, there are fire engines made of smaller vehicles. Examples below:

You know, that’s an interesting idea to try.

So my hopes and dreams of a better run were dashed, once again, by a mi-go. nerf pl0x Naaaah I like the challenge. I do kind of wish they wouldn’t spawn so close to my starting areas though, it really really sucks when I find a good place to settle and then bam, mi-go ruins my day.

I want to do another recorded run but I can’t be certain that it’ll be a good spawn, and in fact it may end up being another one-shot. I don’t want to waste every northeast Scottish town name I can think of/look up on Google Maps just trying to get another series running, haha.

I ll watch your demise.
Maybe i can give some advice.

Edit:

I can t find it.
You didn t upload your entertaining death? D:

edit2:

Last i saw you got killed by a zomby cop-.

Apart from low stats for melee you shouldn t have used a stone knife for the fight.
You d fare better with a 2by4 or barehanded.
Actually at 6 str you should use a weapon as your base dmg modifier would mean that without a suitable stile and higher melee skill you would do next to no dmg barehanded.
2by4 something like that with some + to hit.

Well, rain-related power outage last night wiped a few minutes of progress on my converting the RV to solar power. >.>

I didn’t record that run, I’m afraid. I don’t always record my runs because I end up getting discouraged when I get murdered on day one sixteen times in a row while actually attempting to record. Long story short though, I managed to sneak into a house just fine, got plenty of meds and food supplies, was mildly worried about a giant wasp hanging around that I could see outside my window, but just ignored it. Then went back out the window and saw a Mi-Go, who had just murdered the giant wasp. Fearing that it would break into my house, I left the house to attempt to engage it on my own terms, but I can never beat a Mi-Go in melee combat no matter how hard I try. D:

That reminds me though, I’ve been thinking of trying a silly idea for a self-imposed challenge run to make fighting zombies and monsters a bit more challenging, provided I can make it past Day 1. I’m tentatively calling it the “War Has Changed” run, and while I could ramble about the story stuff, I’ll refine it to the basic rules:

-Most guns are DNA ID-tagged (With the exception of guns found in gang shootout aftermaths) or locked up, meaning I’m not allowed to just take any gun I see.
-Ammo, however, is fair game.
-The basic idea here is that if I want to use guns of any kind, I have to either hope I find a gang shootout, or more reasonably, make my own guns and use whatever ammo I can find.

I dunno, it was a silly idea that came to mind, mostly because I really enjoy being a crafty type, so making my own guns sounds like it’d be fun, even if they’re nowhere near as efficient as the many proper guns I can find lying around. So I just needed an excuse to make most guns unobtainable, and bam. War has changed.

EDIT: Also, regarding melee combat, for the most part I’ve been trying to take weapons that have Quick Strike or otherwise have less than 100 moves per attack, primarily because it means I can get a lot more hits in. Since a 2-by-4 has 112 moves per swing that puts me in more danger of being hit. Maybe I should make a 2-by-sword this time around. I usually like using either that or a cudgel for blunt damage combat, and a Knife Spear for sharp damage.

If you have a lighter or a matchbook, you can lure the migo into a bush, and then set it on fire. More often than not the migo will run away after getting enough damage from that.

That an awesome idea. Not a silly one.

Fighting that migo in melee without using dirty tricks was a silly idea .

The game takes place in the US. None of the vehicles you list are from the US. A typical US fire truck is a lot larger than a typical ambulance, and not just in the US either.

Somwe of the new lighting changes have made it impossible to sleep late, even with a well-sealed room. Oh well, blindfold solved that.

They said guns don’t kill people they did.
Well, guns DO get people killed in Cata…almost.
Was suppoused to (F)ire my bullwhip, which by the way is the greatest weapon EVER made.
Alas, had just loaded a two barrel shotgun so instead of whip off went the shotgun.
Zed did go down, but the problem was everybody and their cousin heard the shot forcing me to flee the city.
You don’t get that far with 19 00’s versus town full of zeds.

A Saiga 12 shotgun works a lot better for that. owo

Also none of those you posted are actual Fire/Ladder Trucks. Fire departments both here and abroad operate a number of specialized vehicles, including cars and SUVs used by Fire Chiefs and Fire Marshals, some run ambulances in areas without other developed emergency infastructure, along with (at least at my local station) potentially a Humvee and ATVs for fighting forest fires. But there’s not a whole lot of difference between the actual Fire Trucks used by departments around the world.

Saiga 12 Master Race reporting, so long as you’ve got enough shotgun shells it can solve any problem.

I usualy shoot down z with my Breitschwert. If not available i employ fist to the face.

Krav Maga or a decent melee weapon, yeah. But when I have hundreds of shotshells stockpiled, it’s great for wiping out all the zombies in the area. If you have enough ammo, the noise generated is a GOOD thing.

I concede that your right this time.

Yay, I’m right for once. o3o

Meanwhile, burglarchick’s sleep schedule has been thrown off by night raiding and excessive vehicle repairs.

Enjoying how the z levels work now. On one hand, encountering less human bodies in some labs due to them rotting away.

On the other hand, I can set fire to a slime pit, then climb up to ground level, craft and wait until the flames die out, no sleeping underground required.

Ooh. Got another artifact that’ll be on top of the lame artifacts list; the warm napkin. No charges. Only effect is that it emits some smoke every once in a while. One tile of smoke after several steps, so using it as cover is impossible.

And I was hoping it’d have something snazzy, because the surrounding area around it was on fire.

Also, deeply suspicious that having so many NPCs in the outpost and refugee center is the cause for the lack of NPCs showing up. I get to a point where I’m pretty far away from those two areas, I craft some clean water, and all of a sudden there’s 5 NPCs coming towards me.

All that meat, meat, meat. I was beginning to worry that my character would start eating… animal meat.

Pretty half certain now. Two more showed up when I was smoking my kills.

“There are no damaged parts on this vehicle.”

At laaast.

Alright, getting somewhere with my new run - I’m doing a clothed run (The Boxers Moth run will have to wait for a future attempt), and I’m doing it with 4 strength, 10 dexterity, 11 Intelligence and 9 perception.

Managed to successfully hack into a waste processing plant’s computer, they had a couple of Electromagnetic Unit CBMs, so I decided I’d try installing one. Succeeded, probably in part because I put points into Electronics, First Aid and Mechanics, and maybe because the Electromagnetic Unit is an easier CBM to install? But at any rate there was only a 12 percent chance of failure, so I took it and succeeded! Of course, I don’t have any power storage CBMs and I have no idea where to find such CBMs other than maybe getting lucky and butchering one from a technician zombie if I can find one.

Also I accidentally blew up a tank in the sewage treatment plant. ChazMoth was upset that he was covered in sewage, but otherwise seems to be okay.
