Meanwhile, my starter NPC’s array of medical supplies and his meat shall prove valuable.
EDIT: Dozens of zeds in the FEMA camp, my shotgun shells just barely held out long enough to locate and kill the zombie masters.
EDIT 2: At the very least, disabling zombie revival has proved nifty.
EDIT 3: I love the fact that FEMA tent walls can’t be smashed.
EDIT 4: Augh, caught in the FEMA camp’s lab building with a smoker zombie, several corrosive zombies, and a few zombie soldiers. Had to debug to spawn more slugs.
Had to save scum for the second time on current character who is holed up in a gun nut basement. Third time and he is out. Not sure if bad luck or bad strategy but I keep getting mobbed even though using melee and being very quiet at night. Also rushing into the antique store looking for the ever elusive cutlass might have been a bad idea.
Hordes require the right kind of dogged determination and insane preperation to properly counter. They’re honestly the only thing that gives my feathered Alpha/Elf-A supersolider a real challenge anymore (though it probably also helps that I stopped using Niten and a Katana). The fact that I have to stop fighting aganist an enemy, reevaluate my situation, and fallback for once is great.
Making an ergonomic grip seems like a pretty fast way to increase fabrication by three levels. Only one scrap metal needed, so resource wise that’s pretty cheap.
Seems like the way it should be, providing a persistent challenge that scales dynamically without having to go exploring to find it.
personally i’ve just charged a horde in an open field and barely anything spawned.
[sup]( think i’ve read they can only spawn out of LoS inside of the reality bubble )[/sup]
also working on leveling mechanics to 8 by making survivor’s .223 carbines. so ineffective >_>
Hmm. Installing, repairing, and removing parts still gives experience without regard for level though, right? If they changed that, I will be saddragon. ;A;

It feels as tho that has taken a couple nerf balls to the face.

meh taking apart seats to get the springs actually made it worthwhile.
So far, corrosive zombies are by far the hardest to handle melee-wise. A group of hulks I can manage easily, but so far I don’t have a defense against the corrosive zeds splattering acid everywhere.
I could go with the pneumatic bolt driver which I got off a dead NPC, or any rifle at all. I do wanna find a Barrett because I found 600 .50 BMG off two cars.
In any case, I could go with any gun really. While surrounded by cities, I’m not finding any gun basements or gun stores, so I’m relying on passing NPCs for my guns and ammo.
Cleared out a home improvement megastore with a little help of a lava rift in the nearby vicinity. Broad daylight, because there are huge boomers and corrosive zeds everywhere, so I’d rather do it in the day than stumbling around at night with acid flying everywhere.
Melee on brutes, hulks, predators and any other zombies. Ditto for huge boomers since I crafted a gas mask. Corrosives had to be dealt with by luring them into the lava. Running was super helpful in that regard.
But seriously, so many corrosive zombies. About a third of the zombies in that building were corrosives. Basically stayed at the very edge of the vision radius of the zeds, luring out a few at a time. Took three days to clear the whole place out, mostly because I avoided fighting at night.
The nerf to acid (making it not auto-eat every bit of leg and feet clothing) makes that MUCH more doable, but I have to admit that corrosives and huge boomers do seem to be pretty over-represented.
I switched the glow from corrosives to huge boomers, which makes night runs only difficult instead of impossible. I reported it as a bug (which it absolutely still seems to be), but I got a response from a developer that it’s as intended. Uh, OK, whatever.
Managed to outfox a hostile NPC who caught me at a bad time. He was wielding a shotgun, and my hp was low everywhere and he was already firing so rushing at him with a tazer was out. Ran straight and set a mine behind me and it killed him.
