What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Nein, only hacking I’m doing is my hacksaw, plus these iron bars, equaling some reading light. :V

EDIT: Found a certain FNAF shoutout, whee. Kiss my bionics-enhanced fist, you knockoff Chucky.

EDIT 2: Oh wow, knocking down walls to open up hidden areas rustles some serious jimmies.

EDIT 3: Oh, the awful noise I’m hearing is actually the mad laughter of the jacqueshammer debugged in to test things. You maniacs, it’s supposed to go HONHONHON, not HOHOHO. It’s the Jacqueshammer, not the St. Nicholashammer!

My desire for some organization has been sated, for now.
Firstly, the door not blocked by a display rack is the openable door. Cut it open with the torch, and built a new metal door. The blocked off metal door doesn’t open, so it’s more or less a wall.

Display racks are for chemicals. Since most of my chemical stuff is in base 1, it’ll take some time before those racks are filled up. The ones in the bottom are gasoline. Next one up is the counters; would have used a display rack for that but doing so seems to block out the chemicals display rack so that’s a no-no for crafting. Starting from the top, the normal spare parts, then the spare parts like batteries, nails, duct tape, paper, plutonium, then below are plastic chunks. Plastic chunks get their own spot unlike the other clothing repair items because I need them for stuff like napalm and other crafting stuff.

Then below are bones, then the string and rope materials, followed by gun crafting bits like primers, solder, and lead, and at the bottom are casings. Oh, and at the top corner I dug a hole, made a rope and pulley system, and smashed it, to make a dirt tile to funnel water.

Empty counters will be for clothing to cut up, then normal clothing, then armor, then the last counter I’m not sure on what I’ll put in there yet, but I suppose I can separate rope items and thread items. Then beside that are the clothing/armor repair tools, and below are for lumps of steel, chunks of steel, and scrap metal. Above those counters are tools. Starting from the bottom, tools that require no charge, then tools that has charges, and tools to disassemble.

Next set of display racks is for food. Tin cans (and V8), ingredients, and non-perishable items, and a new rack for non-perishable, low nutrition items like crackers, chewing gum, and candy. Counters above are used maps, newspapers, flyers, and survivor’s notes. Next row of counters are artifacts, teleporters and portal generators, and blob bits like goo canisters and blob globs. Empty counter will be for dehydrated tainted meat.

That red bit on the north wall will be the setup for my solar rig. Don’t have the parts for the forge, welding, foodco, and kitchen unit yet. Will set up some minifridges to store perishable goods.

Next up is the armory area. Not much change in the organization scheme. Handguns, rifles, shotguns, submachine guns, launchers, and throwing weapons. Normal ammo, shotgun shells, exotic ammo like fusion pack and hydrogen, launcher rounds, and non-gunpowder ammo like pool balls, BBs, and arrows. Tables have gun mods and melee weapons. Thrown explosives are stored elsewhere.

Also, continuation of the food racks. Drinks, booze, dehydrated meat, and royal jelly. Counters above for the usual drugs; normal medical supplies, healing items, and drugs. Just as a joke on how nicotine is addictive, cigars and cigarettes are placed with the cocaines and meth.

The rare junk storage. Bionics, mutagen, purifier, explosives, power armor, traps, turrets, and monetary stuff (money, gold bars, and fancy clothing).

Odds and ends, part one. Plastic bottles of clean water, fluid sacs, honey comb, wax, MREs (empty), rocks, two by fours, and seeds and other similar items that can be foraged like tanbark. Outside the actual base area, trash bins for skill books with all the recipes learned, normal trash like cardboard boxes, small containers, and rotten/burnt/damaged items.

There’s another room made in the same manner as the rare junk storage that deals with more odds and ends. Vehicle parts, construction components, Mycus junk, ant eggs, etc, and several metal charcoal kilns. Bedroom is basically a frame and a bed I can drag around.
Whew.

a truly impressive layout i must say but, that quote… That is priceless. i was trying to figure out how to take down a ceiling ( Or floor ) half the night.

Meanwhile i’ve… been speeding at over 150kmph in a 4x1 electric bike ( Two cargo carriers and a roller drum on an extra-light frame just because >_> )
Tried collecting enough solar panels and failed (In no dramatic fashion). I’ll resort to taking apart the solar rig in my starter camp.
Just cause i’m eager to get my Electronics to Lv11 the only way i know how- crafting upgraded solar panels.
surely i’ve no need for a base right in this region i tell myself knowing that i rather need to move it across a forest while merging it with what i intended to be a small camp in the opposite direction.

edit: Nvm, Most the solar panels on that thing are were upgraded ones.

You can get solar cells for crafting from the solar panel cbm often found in labs. After a few lab trips, that cbm really piles up.

Meanwhile…
-found fungal flowers
-walk up to the main fungal blossom and punch it to death, brawler-style
-take picture of it before killing it
-collect marloss seeds
-walk outside and around the fungal area, acting like Prometheus and giving out the gift of fire
-once fire has spread through the entire fungal area, use vibrator in a close but safe distance from the fire
-get tired after using vibrator, sleep
-WINNING

Fire. The gift that keeps on giving.

You know what they say. Build a man a fire and he’ll be warm for a day, but set a man on fire and he’ll be warm for the rest of his life.

Either that or royally pissed off. :V

Learning lessons the hard way is always not fun.

After a year of warnings about imminent hard disk failure my past-self thought he would be cheeky and backup stuff at the last moment…

R.I.P super organized folder of epic CaTclysm adventures.

The one thing that no amount of survivor armor can protect against. :V

Sigged.

It’s originally a Terry Pratchett quote. (RIP)

Though I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s even older than that. :V

Well the other version involves fishing, so it was long due to a improvement.

Yup. It was Jingo, I believe, where I got the quote from. I remembered that quote yesterday during a re-read of Raising Steam.

Finally got my mechanics high enough, and enough equipment, to refurbish my Hippie Van to be able to travel the length and width of the apocalypse. It looks almost exactly like a Low-end Cube Van (and in fact, that is what I used as my inspiration), and would have been cheaper to turn my cube van into this, than my Hippie van, but … my Hippie van has been with me for longer. It sheltered me on my first night, it saved me from many horrors, and even sacrificed it’s battery to kill a moose when I needed some non-junk food. For the past 13 days (30-day seasons) my Hippie van has been resting, as without a functional battery, it would not start. But now it is restored … and like everything else in this world, it is a shocking Frankenstein of a thing. (It isn’t by any stretch of the imagination a mobile fortress, however… just a mobile home.)

The entire right-hand side of the van has been ripped off, expanded about 50cm further across, and is a combination of parts of an old electric car (currently gutted next to my Hippie Van), and the low end cube van. The engine block, and assorted electronics, has been moved behind the drivers seat, which itself has been moved into the center of the vehicle, while the left-hand side has tubes jutting out from where a chem lab has been installed (which I use as a kitchen … honest!). The boot is full of guns, books, a large amount of food (including 215 units of unclean water), and a large pile of clothing and electronics materials. The small library I have installed also includes the book ‘Amateur Home Radio for Enthusiasts’ which I read at literally every opportunity. I am about half-way through it…

Now I am going to leave on a journey to find other survivors. I don’t expect there to be many, but I always hold out hope.

Building an APC with 5 shredders in front… but so far I only have 3. GOD I can’t wait until I can get the parts for the remaining two !! impatience/rage

Mow, mow, mow the horde, gently down the street
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Destruction oh so sweet!

 • After getting electronics to 11 by any means neccesairy ( Disassembling upgraded solar pannels and putting them back together )
 • I’ve went on a mindless raiding spree,
 • In the middle of it i’ve abandoned my solar looting bike and made a new one from a military cargo truck i’ve found. Unfortunately i’ve made it like 7x1 so it’s turning angle was obnoxious, however i’ve kept it for a few days continuing the raid.
 • ended up ditching it along with all the loot i’ve accumulated driving it around in some forgotten place and kept going.
 • At some point i stopped caring about loot, Dropped off my heavily modded recurve reflex bow and proceeded listening to my mp3 player, Reading books i find and, tearing through anything and everything with a katana for many days only stopping to sleep. Melee is now at Lv21
 • Stumbled upon a ‘tear in reality’ with no protection raditation… I was ill after finishing it and looting the first marloss berries with this character.
 • My hands couldn’t stop shaking for week as i’ve carried on looting ( -1 str, -4 dex. without having the jittery trait/mutation )
 • After accidently eating a chunk of meat and not having antiparasitic meds my stomach started aching aswell… THEN i panicked.
 • Put on rollerblades and B-lined to the nearest hospital i’ve not cleared yet, ignoring most the mobs i went straight to the storage are, Got some antiparacitic meds & some iodine tablets… Took em both and charged back out.
 • And went to a hospital i’ve already been through, Still panicking… I’ve attempted hacking the stem-cell treatment console, got electrocuted several times but i managed it. Took the treatment… barely made it to a bed with my pain levels going insane and stats 1/4 of what they were, Dumped all my gear and slept.

My hands finally stopped shaking! I still have no idea what was happening to me :frowning:

Constant uncontrollable shaking and -4 dex? Sounds like you caught Tetanus. It’s one of the more annoying and potentially deadly diseases because it doesn’t show up on the status screen.

Whose smart idea was it to make cleaning robots explosive?

This nearly went under the ‘How did you last die’ thread.

In other news, I punched a cleaning robot with my bare hands until it exploded. Karate is fun ^.^

If you got tetanus, you need to down some antibiotics which have a chance to cure it. Not sure if royal jelly will work. For most part, royal jelly seems to cure everything.
