What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Oh, I got that planned on a later time. A small room next to my base, basically a room full of NPC corpses.

Either way, I can manage loaded guns, but for flamethrowers and grenade launchers I reckon I should keep their ammunition unloaded from now on.

I was looking on my map to see if I could find a place to get me what I need to get into the gun store. I had already searched a hardware store of the torch thing I can’t remember the name of. No luck. I then notice that there was another hardware store as well. on my way there I had killed a few zombies and one of them had a nail gun. I took it with me sense I didn’t have one. Apperently just above where the store was there was a mine field. Ignoring that I head inside and find a wheelbarrow to help me carry what I find so I don’t have to make a second trip. And then I find it. The acetylene torch. I also found a hoe but who cares about that? I look in the next shelf to find… Another torch. Anyways I find an actual Crowbar, Brick kiln, Floodlight, Trowel, And a welder. So time to get in that gun store…

You can also pick the locks on the metal doors. Block line of sight through the windows, close the door, and you’ve got a hell of a fortress.

Thanks for the tip. Sadly I still need welding goggles to open them. So I won’t be able to get in there like that.

Been changing things up with a hobo build. Lightweight, addictive personality and bad temper. Raiding liquor stores and cars for molotv ingredients/ drinking fuel for my characters addiction and torching zombies with molotovs whilst tripping balls is hilariously fun. He quests for booze and kicking ass.

Just use a makeshift picklock. Got a decent chance of unlocking the doors without even needing the torch and goggles. Might trip an alarm if you fail.

If you got hordes on the gun store might not be the best place for a base. If the alarm trips, it’ll keep on gathering swarms of everything all over the place. I’ve seen gun stores leveled to next to nothing except for the metal parts, and the alarm keeps on ringing.

I already got in and the alarm was sounding off constantly sense there where zombies inside hitting crap so no worry’s there. And I just didn’t know they were pickable.

I think they’re the only locked metal door that’s pickable in the game.

Yeah I made those specially after I realized the rest weren’t. They’re different than the metal doors you’d find in a bunker or lab.

My numerous bandit characters thank you for your foresight.

Found my first artifact in the middle of what I can only describe as an electrical anomaly off the side of the road. It’s called a Crackling Knot; “This twisted, knotted cord occasionally makes a soft crackling sound.” It’s activatable but needs a charge and tells me my skin prickles with radiation when I pick it up. Don’t yet know how to charge it or what it does, but at least my RM13 protects me from being irradiated by it.

I think I’m starting to love karate as much as krav maga. Spammable fast attack, PLUS bonus dodge and block after a hit? Ooooh.

Roofing is finally over. Now beginning to add some furniture to my new base, starting with an armory and then a 3x3 bed. I mean, I only need one, but might as well. 8 of the 9 tiles of the bed will have money bundles!

I make an epic tour through the zombie-infested heartlands of the nearby city to plunder the four Dojos the nearby Lab has revealed.

And all I get out of it are seven Shotokan Karate handbooks.

Why, god, why.

Ventured out from my base to explore the map

Not too far from my base, a feral predator attacked me

Killed the predator, but my torso’s bleeding

Barely made it back to base, torso was nearly dead by the time I applied a bandage

Found out I had a bag of hemostatic powder just sitting there in my medical supplies crate

Facepalmed extremely hard

More facepalm when I realized I could’ve just cut up the predator’s clothes into rags and used the rags to stop the bleeding.

That’s all you need, any manual that gives a spammable Quick Strike art. o3o

Forgot metal doors are pickable while breaking out of a lab. I tried to burn the entrance down but it only did the hall way. So I cheated in C-4 when burning explosive rounds didn’t work.

Began by digging underground at Spring 41/91 to find rocks for stone walls, and finally done moving everything from my old base to my new one at summer 21/91.

The entrance area, where I went overboard with setting up crates for “trash” items. Usable containers on one box, misc. trash on another, spare tools, unloaded guns that I already have in my armory, clothing/armor that I already have and can’t be cut up or disassembled, burnt items, tainted bones. Construction materials like two by fours and rocks have their own crates, and MREs and plastic bottles of clean water have their own container as well. And a mop in case I have to clean up a mess. Plan to set a steel frame somewhere around the middle and put a mounted M2 browning there.

The big empty space will be my vehicle parts storage, just a small number of odds and ends there. Will add more display racks the more vehicle parts I find, and organize them by type. Containers on the bottom right are gasoline. On the top right is a kind of office area. Desk just hold some misc. stuff. The indoor plants got dragged from the mansion just to complete the look of the thing.

The crafting area. Spare parts, spare parts like batteries and nails, chemicals, books with recipes still unlearned, tools (with charges and tools that don’t use charge), food items, a single space I didn’t roof so I can collect water; a station for clothes and armor repair, and crates for metal. Scrap, chunks, and lumps are separate from each other. Of course, there’s a rig with the vehicle crafting tools, but that’s incomplete since I don’t have solar panels yet.

The bedroom. One dresser for clothing, and another for armor. If I find power armor, it’ll be on the middle between those two dresser. Money bundles on the bed because why not?

Place where bionics and mutagens are stored. Medical supplies are also kept there. Also fancy stuff like gold earrings and gold bars and whatnot.

Armory. Entrance is hidden by a row of bookshelves. Handguns, rifles, shotguns, SMGs, launchers, and casings on one row. Thrown explosives, normal ammo, shotgun shells, exotic ammo like fusion packs, grenades and rockets, and a firearm repair kit on middle row. Last row has archery weapons, arrows and bolts, mods, melee weapons, thrown weapons, and stuff like solder and tin.

And that’s about it. Not quite complete yet, as I’m planning for a farming area outside, a garage, and a campsite for NPCs I don’t kill in the future. Maybe a second layer of wall as well. Just one entrance. If a horde manages to breach through, I die with my base.

Took nearly a 91-day season to finish. Might not be completely necessary, but so worth it. Organizationnnnn, spoken in the same tones involving fire and the mycus.

Yeesh, and I thought I was loopy for neatly piling crap on the floor of my bases. o3o

ORGANIZATION!!!

Eventually I’ll deconstruct every thing in my old mansion base, and then jackhammer what’s left and collect the rubble.
