What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Alpha is the way to go friend, especially if most of your stats are around 8. Most medical mutations are useless to a survivor by the time you get them since you’ll already have bionics and drugs which work just as well. Medical does grant a 20% or 30% bonus to hitpoints with the post-threshold tough/resilient mutations, but it’s kind of meh compared to the stat gains of alpha.

As for upping stats before alpha… you could chug other mutagens to gain stat-increasing mutations, but I don’t know if those will help maximize the gains from alpha.

While we’re on mutations, does anybody know if it’s possible to gain the “Tough” mutation without breaking a threshold?

The wiki at least says that prereq mutations count toward maximizing gains, but I’m still not sure how it’ll work out given the different levels of stat boosting mutations. I’ll probably try it and then report back with results.

Looking at the github, I might be wrong, but it looks like “Tough” is only a trait. If you want “Resilient” which looks to be the same thing except as a mutation, it does look like you’ll have to break a threshold.

updated cataclysm to latest experimental

noticed foot crank nerf, previusly i was ussing a 3 tile bike with 2 full cargo carriers now my small bike out of pipe basket trunk and frame with 2 casters and vehicle controls (193 kg) cant move at all with foot crank

Huh. Is it maybe the castors, or the crank? O.o

removed casters, removed 2 wheels from nearby car
instaled 1 wheel and 1 hulk apeared punching me into a wall nearly dying now sleeping in church famished with only water and weapons
replaced wheels, still 0 km/h

Ouch. Definitely weird. O.o

I’m tempted to try a game with dynamic spawns and spawn rate at max. Anyone know if spawn rate affects how many spawn at once, versus merely how many can be spawned before the monster pool is depleted?

ok it works now, probaly hulk destroyed my foot crank and previously it was probaly something with casters

you are talking about zombies spawning when you make noise or horde?
horde have spawn pool and its affected by spawn rate
dynamic have infinite spawn pool but i have no idea if spawn rate change anything

Hmm. I could’ve sworn that the spawn pool for an area was finite in dynamic mode.

Hence the question of whether spawn rates affect how large that pool is, versus how quickly they spawn over time/noise/etc.

you will not belive what i got, during normal night raid on town i found in pawn shop rare item A MONOCLE

and just after i picked this up a hulk entered this area, when i tried escape with my bike he just sent me flying staright into shocker zombie…

I say old chap, how dare such undead riff-raff lay a hand upon a well-dressed gentleman. He might’ve broke your monocle, perish the thought!

I’ve went back to that game I started just after the skill overhaul - the Naturalist girl who barely survived the first few days not due to animal threats but due to starvation/dehydration. Now I’ve gone east and found a car in near perfect condition, but out of gas, a minefield with signs next to the road it was on, and a semi-truck close to a bridge. The overmap says there’s a town on the other side of the bridge, but don’t know how big it is. The river’s pretty big, I can see two bridges

To my south, there’s a bit of unexplored area and later on a cabin and a mansion. Need to make some arrows and then I can start killing stuff otherwise than pelting them with rocks.

wreckages destroyed by zombies leave so much steel and scrap metal, now i have created katana and kukri with all forge things from scratch and i still have lots of metal to collect i need to change foot crank to engine too because my character is to weak for that heavy load

Still intending to go through my 91 days of being holed up in the base for the sheer hell of it plan. Winter could be the perfect time for it, but I never got to reach winter yet, so maybe the second spring could be good. If I’m really masochistic, I could set a keg of atomic coffee, and see how focused I can get using the UPS vibrator. After around 5 uses, focus went up to 200, though I needed to drink atomic coffee after that since by the fourth use I reached dead tired.

So far, atomic coffee, pink tablets, whiskey, mp3 players, vibrators, and being fancy will keep my spirits up once I close the doors of my bandit base.

Also, I just discovered that gasoline tanks of cars explode after a few shots from the laser pistol. I’ll file that experience under one hell of a close call, since the blast almost hit me. It hit my wheelbarrow, but amazingly it didn’t get damaged.

If I do get bored, I’ll forge a ton of metal blades, find the railgun CBM, and just start throwing them all like a madman. Solve every problem with electric and pointy objects. Had fun on labs on a previous playthrough; which was basically throwing a railgun-powered nodachi at every turret.

try weed too, it give morale bonus and unlike cigarete it do not cause withdrawal

True, though I’ve become a bit wary on joints after dropping one joint into my drugs and medical supplies pile, and then not noticing it until much later, due to all the smoke.

A ton of stuff was damaged that day… I could have probably still used them, but the damage marks on them bugged me a lot.

Eating it hashish-style works too. o3o

True as well. Might as well try that as well as the joint (this time preferably standing on top of a brazier just in case) to see if it’ll stack.

Sounds appropriately dank. owo

found few crates with explosives (and 4 granades)
Brute atracted by granades (revert, revert, bees, buffs) explosion started to smash wall
quickly undress from all my armor leaving only anbc suit to protect myself from bees
brute destroy 1 wall tile
killed brute with crossbows
few spitters apear no time to reload crossbow and take off my mossin nagat
more zombies come bees disapear
take off anbc suit ant put on my armor
hulk on horizon, grab more ammo and few grenades and get out of my base
throw grenades at hulk while slashing zombies with my new katana and shooting with my revolvers
now preparing to fight with hordes what probaly was alerted by my fight i think i need to detonate few c4 charges away from my base

So it’s been around one game week since I started raiding one city. Set my vehicle at the outskirts of town, which had a lot of cargo carriers so it’s back and forth with a cargo carrier wheelbarrow. Though I can most likely raid during the day, I like scheduling it at night and somewhat trying to be stealthy.

Anyways, I’m currently clearing my way through the street. Then, all of a sudden, a beam of light tears up the road, basically stopping just next to me. I sigh, since if there’s a flaming eye then there’s most likely another portal to make it somewhat a hassle.

I go to the origin of the beam… and then I find not one, not two… not even three. Four flaming eyes which reduced a poor garage into rubble.
