What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

So far, plan is to stockpile as much food and drink… a ton of food and drink to be exact. Already have a keg filled with untasty protein drink, and water, next stop is to make a keg filled with protein shake, and maybe vodka.

Will probably try to find some atomic battery mods. Some UPS mods if I can’t find enough. Get a handheld game system, mp3 player, and a vibrator… and with the stocked up food, will keep cooped up inside the home base for an entire 91 day season, for the sheer and utter hell of it. Because why not?

Maybe empty out the liquor crate as well, and the whiskey keg, and eat all the pink tablets, and binge drink mutagen.

Any ideas of how you’re going to pass the time while cooped up? 91 days is a really long time

Current adventurer has decided to hole up in a farm surrounded by swamp, trying to make the most of the crops before they all rot.

Strangely none of it has rotten despite a winter start.

I’ve no idea. Gonna wing it and see what happens.

On one hand, I could stock up on stuff and forge hundreds of katanas, because why the hell not. It could be easier to sleep through it. Using the vibrator a couple of times in a row will tire the player character out, so that’s one easy way to do it. Lots of sleeping with atomic/ups powered vibrator in-between.

Of course, I could also try to keep the character in a state of near-permanent euphoria. Vibrators! Novels! Booze! Atomic coffee! Strawberry toast-ems!

So basically an endless electric fappathon?

Holy shit. If I bring my own toast 'ems and booze, can I join too?

Only if you agree to partake in the mutagen keg.

Chuuuug it. o3o

Today I felt brave enough to take a shot at the chicken walker that has been blocking my road route to the town east of my LMOE shelter. Armed with 3 EMP grenades, and light amp goggles, I waited until it was pitch dark, and proceeded to my target.

My first EMP grenade hit spot on! It did 1 damage from the impact, and that was it. I forgot to pull the pin.

The chicken wobbled around a bit, unable to spot me, so I pulled the pin opn the second grenade and threw it.

Even though it missed, it anti-climactically fried the chicken walker with it’s explosion. There I was, thinking they needed 3 grenade hits. Nope. One, and it dead.

All that was left of it was … a spring… yay.

I did not return home empty handed though. In between the road barricades the chicken used to call home I found myself a military cargo truck, and a semi truck, both fully complete, and only needing minor repairs plus some diesel. Now that’s a good find.

So yeah. Succesful run. I’ll be grinding down heavy duty frames for the coming days hehe.

Decided I was ready to go down a lab. Unfortunately, it was an ice lab I wasn’t ready for. Instead of re-preparing, or finding another lab (which would be problematic, since this was the only lab nearby and the rest of the surroundings is all city), I decided to wing it.

On the bright side, there was a lab bedroom nearby with a jedi cloak and some wool stuff for my feet and mouth. And that’s pretty much it. The lower I got, the more clothes I wore. One jedi cloak, two balaclavas, two cotton hats, and two down filled blankets. Movement cost was a little over twice my current movement speed. On the bright side, since I avoided melee it didn’t matter too much. Laser pistol on the small enemies, shotgun on the turrets and other heavy hitters.

Found one room that was covered in manhacks. Chain lightning and that bionic that protects against electricity. Disappointingly, that room didn’t provide a lot of plutonium cells, and one of them was damaged. Got a bit of radiation from gathering up the batteries, but nothing too bad.

And at the bottom, it was a CBM storage. The security bots were all right. They seem more content in trying to get close than fire at me… which provided some problems, since I was moving so slow and I had no choice but to destroy one at point-blank rank.

Somehow, all that boom did was damage one blanket slightly. Oh well. It took a long while to load everything up on my modified motorcycle (cargo carriers ftw), and so I run off back in the base without the blankets. Keeping the jedi cloak though. And as for the lab itself, I’ll come back in the area much, much, much… much later, since the lab map revealed nearby fungal flowers and a triffid grove. Both are close to each other, so I can only say OH HELL NAW. I’ll come back once I got a flamethrower and a ton of molotov cocktails. I’m gonna scorch that forest to the ground.

Don’t forget a decent gun, otherwise you’ll be plinking away at those fingal towers with just the scratch damage molotov impacts make. o3o

I just went with an easier method. Put a power armor and helmet on the wheelbarrow, fill a plastic jerrycan with gasoline, grab a flamethrower, and head off for a double date with plant life. For the fungal bloom I just walked up to it and cut it down with a wakizashi, picked up a few marloss seeds as a souvenir, then went at the edges and fired up the flamethrower.

Oddly, the spread this time wasn’t as bad. Usually it’d have the surrounding forest infected, but the spread wasn’t too big despite having a very thick forest south of the bloom.

With that done, and the power armor still running, I went to the grove (brought a jaqueshammer) and carved the heart. Went out and torched everything, seeking out every triffid queen I can see. I wasn’t gonna stop until I emptied out the gasoline.

When that was over, I went back to my wheelbarrow, changed clothes, and waited until rain. I managed to pass the time by collecting blueberries, and with two UPS powered dehydrators, I turned all the fruit I can find into dehydrated fruit.

Took a long time, since the speed of the game turned almost slug-like with all the fires raging in the forest. I was safe since I set the wheelbarrow at a nearby and convenient clearing in the forest.

So when the rain began, I zoomed out so I can get a good view of the fires. And I waited, until most of the fires were gone. There’s still a bit of them remaining, but I reckon I’ll come back some other time. For now, the fungal bloom is gone. No spore clouds, no fungal tiles, no fungaloids at all. Triffid queens have been murderized… and there’s a few vine beasts and normal triffids shambling about. Ah well. At least the triffid queen won’t ruin my roads anymore.

Just in case, I took a royal jelly. Not sure if I got the spores, but despite the full power armor I still got poisoned by the fungal fighter, so better safe than sorry. I reckon that I could have done this without the power armor, but it certainly sped things up when it came to the burning parts.

Ooh. The first (actually only, so far) time I went after a fungal tower, all I had was an NBC suit, so wading through my own flames wasn’t an option. ;A;

I wasn’t exactly sure if I did wade through the flames. On the fungal bloom, I basically fired around the edges after I killed the main fungal. There was enough spaces for me to fire at the fungal spots at a safe distance. More than anything, I used the power armor to keep comfortable, since it was summer and all.

Ah right. Not sure if even power armor can handle fire, which is usually rather nasty if you actually step in it.

I think I didn’t really need the NBC suit as I killed most of the nearby fungaloids with a shotgun mainly, though I might’ve hacked down a few with my machete. o3o

In any case, cleaning up the fungal bloom was the surprisingly easier one. I suppose it’s thanks to how the fungal bed is so flammable. On the other hand, the triffid infestation was far more than the fungal boom, since the queens were scattered all over the place.

For now it’s back to the mundane things. The main bandit building surprisingly doesn’t have a roof, so I’m in the process of giving it a simple roof. Oddly, on this playthrough I’m having a hard time finding nails, so I have to resort to deconstructing furniture. After that, it’s giving the floor some carpets, and then give the walls some paint.

As a side project, will construct a small cargo train. Found a flatbed with a full set of intact cargo carriers. So a simple, no defense cargo train will help for raiding, and perhaps moving bases in the future. If I find a refugee center, I might turn that into a base.

Might set up a solar panel set of minifridges, but that’s somewhat low on the totem pole of stuff to do.

Rivtech power armor is the only one that protects from fire.

One funny thing did happen during the slaughter of triffids. I was still out searching for queen triffids, making sure that I got them all. I burn through a couple of vine beasts and triffids sticking next to a spider’s nest. Then I notice a group of triffids, six of them, in a more or less 2x3 formation. They’re a little out of range; if I use the flamethrower I’ll hit the ones at the bottom row, but since they were so grouped together, I wanted to fry them in one go.

So, one step forward, the triffids took one step back. I take another step, and again they step away from me. I hold up the up key and it becomes a chase, as I realize upon looking that they’re fleeing for me.

Yakkety sax would’ve been almost appropriate, as I chased a group of triffids group together in two neat rows as if they’re stuck together, surrounded by a burning forest. They didn’t even try to separate or move diagonally - just one straight line until they got blocked by more trees and then burnt.

Lately I’ve just been driving around in my armored-RV looting shit. Took out my first Fungal Tower, was way easier than I expected. I just walked up and punched the thing to death. I haven’t yet bothered to set everything in the surrounding area on fire yet. Been keeping an eye out for a “Robots for Fun and Profit” to boost my electronics up and a stethoscope so I don’t have to use my sonic resonator to demolish safes any more. Those are probably my two most desired items at the moment, but I’ve got some other goals in mind.

At some point I’d like to craft up a set of winter gear both for the season change and because ice labs seem to be the only labs I ever find. Eventually I’m going to stock up on mutagen but I’m not sure which threshold to shoot for yet. I was pretty inclined towards medical, but it seems like bionics can already achieve a lot of what it can do. Alpha looks tempting if I can boost my stats a little beforehand to maximize the gains of the post-threshold stuff. Any recommendations on this front? My main source of damage is Tiger Style so I’m usually in the thick of things just punching away.

The moment I tried out the Time Dilation CBM I knew I’d one day have to recreate part of the Dio/Jotaro fight from Stardust Crusaders. Throwing knives don’t look too hard to make, and road rollers are everywhere. I imagine the hardest part will be finding a suitable target.

Latest testing of experimental stuff, and…oh fun, I spawned near fungal flowers, a fungal bloom, AND a triffid grove.
