I just wasted a fair amount of time in my Cataclysm trying to shoot down two eyebots by throwing rocks at them until they broke.
I don’t know that I’d call that a waste, mind. It’s good practice and gets rid of them without calling copbots!
I had a lucky start and found a Public works a safe distance from town and forests (Best. Fort. ever.) Pulled the racks across the big opening in the fence, the lockers against the windows, and found a car.
The weird part is the car won’t start for some reason, all the parts are yellow or better, the tank is at 23%, a single piece of frame is at red and as far as I can see all the parts are there? Odd.

How’s the battery?
It’s at yellow, as well it is a gas powered car. I would post a pic but it is too big?
I have never had this happen before so I don’t even.
When I grab the wheel it says “You take control of the car”
"The car’s Engine fails to start"
But the engine is at dark Green, as well as the alternator, battery yellow, controls green, seat yellow, has 4 wheels (All green), gas tank yellow and muffler green.
It is odd…

Yellow battery is damaged enough that it’s leaking, so likely 0% charge and nothing to start the engine. Sorry. Keep that car in mind, though, because if you find an intact battery (or repair this one and then charge it) it should be driveable.
I went and got enough batteries to charge it up to 1%, won’t the alternator charge the battery while it is on? (Btw I didn’t know the battery needed charge to start the car, last version I played was 0.A and battery was only for elec cars)
Sure, but the battery can’t hold a charge for long because it’s leaking. So you might get it to start, but it won’t turn back on next time without another charge.
(Generally, 100 batteries (one full flashlight’s worth) is sufficient charge to start an engine.)
It was working, but the gas spilled out so fast I got nowhere, decided to jog through the city to find some matching parts (Need a higher mech skill before I try anything though) Kited 40 or more Z’s around and found a bicycle of all things, and a small motor which I might combine with the bike
(Who needs a car when I can have a motor powered bicycle?)

A wise decision. I recommend an engine in the 1.5- to 2-liter range, a motorbike alternator, a motorbike battery, and a small gas tank (not little). That should get you as much speed as you’re likely to need while keeping weight down and fuel economy high.
Always make sure to keep the parts in as good of repair as you possibly can, though. Especially the gas tank and battery, as those will start to lose charges if damaged, as you’ve noticed.
My Industrial Cyborg can’t seem to catch a break to save his life. Every time I load him up and spawn him into my new world, he just spawns in a shelter in the middle of town and drops dead at the hands of the unspeakable hellishness living there now.
This last time, for the first time since I created this new world specifically for him, Everett spawned in a shelter out in the woodlands. So, naturally an Antlered Horror comes charging into the place and slaughters him before he can even get back to the stairs.
Hm. And here I’d have thought Hydraulic Muscles would help a fair bit in melee. (You might wanna grab a pipe or at least a two-by before you step outside next time, though.)

Jesus Christ, did you actually survive dropping a nuclear bomb on yourself?
Well, he wasn’t the first one to do it.

What’s impressive is that after having lived through the explosion of first A bomb dude still made it into work.
Downloaded new experimental (my first since 0.B)
7str 12 int 10dex 9per dragon kung fu
Visited giant! City near shelter. Found short shotgun and ammo on random Z. Too many Zs, left city northwards. Found an 45. autorevolver with ammo behind counter of lone gas station. Gas station is neae fungal tower. [Spores instensfy]. Nope the fuck back to shelter.
Decided to visit Hospital next to evac shelter to grab antibiotics for NPC. Dash in and out, mostly unscathed. NPC thanks and runs into the woods, hurling molotovs at wildlife - farewell BobMcBobson.
Reinforce and craft new clothing. Go behind hospital. See bio operator chasing squirels. Nope the fuck back to shelter. Unarmed is at 4.
Visit city again, this time at night. Grab some stuff, books from library. Enter hardware store. See hulk. Nope the fuck back to shelter.
Spend days reading books and going to outskirts of big city for food/water. Scout around and find megastore, public works and hotel. This city has everything but it will take a looong time to clear it out. Unarmed skill is already at 9. I can low roundhouse and then dragon strike a Mi-go flying until it runs away crying. While scouting I found qn ice lab with high skill chem books.
On my way I found a tank wreckage with a packed LAW. (Important!) I moved into a bank. The city now has small sections that are save and I moved for shorter travels. The bank’s console also provides nice reading light.
I wake up the next day: the hulk from before showed up again
ohshit.webm
No way for noping out.
Ready LAW.
Aim.
Keep aiming.
Hulk charges.
Still aiming (love that new mechanic btw.)
woooosh!
BAM!
You hit the zombie hulk for 1236 damage.
The zombie hulk dies!
The town feels safer now. I also build a blunderbuss because you now can uild blunderbusses. I will now proceed to level cooking, for the mutagen recipes i found, craft as much gunpowder as I can and proceed to make this big city safe.
Went to raid a Regional school for some books, mainly looking for Robots for Fun and Profit and Japanese swordmaking. Exited the library and found a hallway to the south crammed full of zombie children and several of their teachers. Watched the scene for a few moments, then decided this place is cursed and should not exist. Activated Flamethrower CBM on every door I passed going out.
The school is now a massive pyre and my framerate has bombed. Worth it.
Built a burrito truck
Drove it around a field for a while doing nothing
Saw a mi-go
Drove at the mi-go
Realized it’s actually been chasing a squirrel around for like 20 minutes, but can’t ever get close enough to hit it
Activated the spare V8 diesel and FLOOR it. Hit a shrub and spin out at 180 mph
Hit the mi-go so hard it explodes in meaty chunks
Missed the squirrel by 1 tile thanks to the spin, drive off into the sunset
GOOD! SPIDERS BESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSST!
JOIN USSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Oh wait, I think I’m like the only one who priorities the Arachnid tree, unless I have any undiscovered spider brethren. There were a bunch in some tacky basement, but they tried to eat me so I ran away. Damn cannibals everywhere.

Read the whole story, still wondering what a burrito truck is

Either a truck that serves burritos, or a giant burrito on wheels. Considering it’s the first one then something like:
But that’s coming from a guy who’s country pretty much doesn’t have burritos. I’m oppressed as fuck.
