What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

weird thing happened to me. I was approaching a road block in the early morning, slowly in order to see any bots before they saw me. I didn’t so well, and suddenly a chicken walker is in view. ok, I think. I’ve got some packed LAWs in my trunk-on-wheels, so I grab one out, and in the process the chicken walker fires at me…and somehow blows itself up in the process. I walk away with half damage done to my chest and arms from the CW’s salvo, but otherwise fine. I have no clue how this happened. I can only imagine that the CW must have shot something explosive in an adjacent tile when firing at me. anyway…best day ever.

Oh, and it appears that nearby is a military cargo truck, nearly intact. Days like this make up for all the deaths by tank bot

I messed up a CBM installation so badly, that my ugly face became beautiful. My hair also turned into grass. Maybe cocaine isn’t the best stimulant to use before performing surgery on myself.

I was dragging a shopping cart around towns for my insatiable need for ammo and guns. Then i saw a manhole cover and decided to check the sewers once more. Haven’t been there for some time and heard that they changed with the updates. So i put a marker at the ladder where my cart was and started going.
((Question: after barely surviving a severe radiation sickness, I now have constantly 99 speed. Is this due to radiation or other factors? @ screen doesn’t help))
My zweihänder killed lots of nasty sewer animals and I munched on lots of delicious fillet of fish (fresh). It wad about 24 hours I was down there, just walking southwards. My head began to hurt and I started hallucinating. I was amazed because i thought that was a reference to the book Metro 2033 where people can go insane when they walk for too long trough completely dark tunnels.
turns out I contracted a brain parasite because I munched on this fish earlier. I desperately searched for a ladder and after another day I found one. I climb up and am greeted by: Tank Bot, 3 brutes and many other Zombies. I had to cone up in the middle of a huge town. Thirsty, hungry, tired, hallucinating and in severe pain due to this nasty parasite. I thought it was over because of the bot but his shot was stopped by a wreckage and I could lose him trough some houses. I had to get out of this town as fast as possible. (It was 4pm btw. So no protection of the darkness :/) My defender kept spitting shot as I reached the edge of town where a gun shop was located. I couldn’t resist and grabbed what I could. Unfortunately i had to drop my highly modded defender on the way.
A cathedral was a few map tiles away and i decided to wait there for the night to check that one and only pharmacy in that big ass city. The building was cleared fast but the time after that was restless. My little worm friend had fun exploring my frontal lobe and the pain wouldn’t let me sleep for more than an hour. Finally it was dark and I checked the pharmacy. Of course no anti parasite drug… I left the town and now I need to get to my shopping cart. I THINK I put there some anti ***** drug. But not sure if fungal or parasite. On my way heading north again, this time above ground, I encountered a triffid grove. Wish me luck.

So I lost another character getting this but uh, statistically speaking what the flying fuck are the odds of this happening?

For those of you wondering, or who can’t view PNGs because I used a PNG without thinking, two Motels generated perfectly and right next to eachother.

[quote=“Jakers, post:4933, topic:47”]OCD?! WHAT OCD!?!?

I love the way you’ve mapped hammer to h, crowbar to c, lighter to l etc.

I spawned next to a city with random NPCs on in my first game that I lived for any period of time in. Ended up on the East end of a Large city with a mall about 2 miles to the North East. Zombies and NPCs spawned and the city is full of the sounds of gunfire. Dead bodies everywhere. The only place in the city that is not really clear now is where I think there is a slime pit. So many slimes…

Looted nearby buildings and shops for everything I could find. I now have enough food and other supplies to last me a year or so (also found a working car). Also found guns… LOTS OF GUNS! YAY! I even found an LMG.

I explored the Mall to the north and discovered there was no zombies anywhere near it. Only found one zombie while exploring (I guess the end of the world hit when everything was closed). Found a lot of supplies and a few working cars/trucks/bikes and a working big rig.

Went to explore a nearby fire station hoping to find a Halligan bar (being a firefighter in RL I know how useful those are). Get there, no Halligan bar, but someone tries to mug me. Well the guy is to busy shooting the few remaining zombies to mug me so I walk up to him and shoot him in the face with a shotgun slug for 200 damage. Mug me will ya!

So now I am sitting in my fortified house loaded to the brim with guns, cars, trucks, food, equipment, and crafting supplies. Its about mid summer year one. Its a good life.

I expect a Tank drone or Chicken walker paying a visit to you in the near future…

Found my first artifact! Dagger of Shattered Justice.
It adds +4 to STR, +4 DEX too when being wielded, and when used it summons giant bees that aid you.

Friggin. Awesome.

That’s a one in a hundred artifact, dude. What is it made of? I once had a staff that was made of nothing, so I had to use the debug menu to fix it when it got damaged.

So, who knew zombie sharks were a thing? I didn’t until one leapt at me from the water. Thank god its restricted to water.

Building a crowd-clearing device using a frame w/ tank filled with gasoline, a noisemaker, and a remote pipe-bomb. Not sure if I can do enough damage to the gas tank to make it explode, or even if they explode violently anymore, but I’ll find out in testing. I think I’ll drag it into the most crowded city center I can find and then torch it off.

It is made of steel.
Also, the negative part is that a random mutation is added (“You feel your genetic makeup degrading.”) but nothing happened to me. (perhaps my Robust Genetics trait prevented from manifestating it?)

I also just remembered this from Christmas when I was board at my grandmas place.

I started a fresh carecter just to try a different senario. Load up the safe house and “ERROR NPC has not used all Movement, Starting Debug Mode (or something to that effect)” and the game freezes with a blank screen.

Ctr/Alt/Del open task manager and well… the game is not in a “not responding” state soo…

Wait 15 minutes…

Oh goody a screen… wait… where did the NP… why is there blood every… wow…

Somehow the NPC blew up, there was blood everywhere, and a pile of goo where that NPC was once standing. Free weapon at least.

Note to NPCs… do NOT trigger bugmode, that is your doom.

I did it! Sure, it took 40 days. But I have finally cleared the last remnants of the siege! The LMOE shelter is mine!

The final push was a dawn raid. It finished at 3pm.

Final results of the siege:

Over 1000 kills (my kill count is 1462, but there were some kills I made from stragglers in the city to the east. Also, I don’t think fire deaths count, and there were at least 100 of them)
Attack launched at 8am, with a reinforced z-hander (can’t spell it), reinforced ornamental plate armor, a reinforced kabuto (japanese head armor), kevlar boots, light leather gloves, miscellaneous undergarments, 2 pipe bombs, and 2 molotovs, and tons of medication.
My vehicle was the killer bike, a minimilist completely home-made bicycle with a headlight, solar panels, and a tiny battery. Oh, and an M2 browning mounted at the front. It had 205 bullets.
Consumed both molotovs, one pipe bomb, and 120 bullets. Also consumed a first aid kit.
The final push left my ornamental plate armor dented (it took two hits every time I was in an acid pit), my socks torn, my right leg ‘yellow’, my right arm and left leg ‘light green’, and the rest of my body slightly injured.

What I learned:

Molotovs are pretty brutal, but are pretty hard to make (in terms of finding a supply of glass bottles)
The M2 browning doesn’t shoot 5 bullets a turn. It fires 5 bullets a burst, and up to 5 bursts a turn. Also it has reasonably low range, and poor accuracy at the edge of it’s range. It also prioritizes a skeleton over a shocker brute >.> Probably best for crowd control, rather than taking out large targets.
Being heavily armored is really useful against the ‘mundane’ zombies, but you don’t want to get surrounded. The z-sword doesn’t do the ‘wide strike’ very often, even at high skills
In combat, listening to MP3 keeps your focus at 40-50, instead of locked at 0-10.

And cool loot I got:

Tons and tons of food of varying preservability. Not that I need it. Wheat + quern + fungaloids = billions of biscuits, which allegedly are healthy!
Basic power armor! (Unfortunately, it is quite badly damaged, but I have the electronics skill to make my own UPS)
Tons of ammo and guns, of varying types
An advanced tailoring skill book!
And an integrated toolset CBM.

And more importantly, I can survive as long as I want now! There are no dangers roaming near my farm that could pose a major threat for me. I will have to seek out threats!

…wat…

Use of the M2 Browning as a Sniper Rifle
Short Version: The world sniper rifle confirmed kill record was set by Carlos Hathcock at 2,250 meters in Febuary of 1967 which stood until 2002… …I could have sworn I set up the browning to be as accurate and useful at range as the Barrett (Both should easily reach the edge of the reality bubble accurately) provided you’re not firing on full-auto.

I am playing the stable, so I don’t have the turrent upgrades that the experimentals have. Specifically, I can’t fire the turrent in single-shot mode, only full-auto. Which is a pain … I wanted a decent single-shot weapon. Trigger-happy is a rather annoying trait sometimes…

start game with bionic monster
burning house scenario
explore shit, gathering enough clothes to keep myself warm
find a house with a perfect condition car inside, 80% in tanks and battery
going to raid a garage to get some tools
find a working police car on the way
fuck yes!

In my new town, Rotterdam, my shootist-in-the-making discovered an arcade. SO MUCH ELECTRONIC SCRAP. SO MUCH PLASTIC FOR FLETCHING. SO MUCH SCRAP METAL.

Except I respect the medium of video games too much to just destroy irreplaceable electronic entertainment willy-nilly. :frowning:
