Day 11 (30-day seasons):
Darryl Huston’s farm looks like a bomb hit it. If you count a hulk and a shocker brute to be ‘bombs’, then that is true. There is a massive pile of chopped up bodies, ripped clothing, and damaged items out my front porch. Holes in non-strategic places of the house gape open. A thick ring of uneven pits, dotted with the broken spikes that were brand new a week ago, and covered with puddles of water caused by the three day thunderstorm that ended only two days ago, protect the front door. Behind the farm, the barbed wire fence has been brutally damaged, and more bodies lie amongst ailing fields. The house is almost stripped from all wood furniture, as the clothing of the zombies was not effective for burning, and so the furniture was needed to provide fire, heat, and boiled water. Wood was so scarce, that it soon became obvious that spiked pits were a poor use of precious wood.
This is the 9th day of the zombie siege. Over 450 zombies have died, but more take their place.
On the 5th day, the western front was pushed back beyond the tree-line of the forest to the west. Once that was done, herbs, and meat, were gathered to subsidize the food from the farm. More importantly, wood was gathered, meaning that the farm’s furniture was now safe.
However, today is an important day in Darryl Huston’s life. After the fifth massive assault from the east, the counterattack today broke through the remaining besieging forces. Darryl can now loot the north part of the neighboring city with impunity, and even access a evac shelter. With a source of scrap metal, all the equipment to begin repairing cars, medicine, and hopefully a cart, Darryl’s life is about to become a lot easier.
