Just found a Home Frontier Starter pack while rummaging around for ammo to blast a tough zombie that was on my tail. Can’t wait to find a nice quiet place and open it up.
Ammo isn’t included, though.
I kind of “dabbled” a little bit with C:DDA a while ago, but never got the chance to play much after my old PC broke.
So I’m sitting here flicking through videos, and I see one of C:DDA, and think “Yeah, I think I’ll go back to that.”
Play with the settings a bit because, why not. Hmmm, I can change city size here… doubles it for the lolz
Now, I had my plan already ready, because I’d given the wiki and this thread a little bit of reading before starting.
I’ll go to a couple of houses, and grab the basics, and try to get some archery going, etc etc. No going into the middle of the town, because I’m going to play static, not dynamic.
I should have known from some posts here if nothing else…
“DEBUG: Couldn’t find a shelter!
Press spacebar…”
The game never gives you nice things without strings attached.
So yeah, guess I’ll get the chance to suffer… anyone point me towards the nearest highly flammable objects please?

I have a town to raze.[/tt]
Those bleachers. And yeah, doubling the town size does kinda mess up mapgen. We consider that an acceptable result of messing around with options.
Yeah, I kind of got the feeling that the settings were a little bit of the “they’re here, but don’t change them” type.
Still interesting to see what happens though - plus it makes it all the more impossible challenging to clear out.
Nonetheless, I still just about survived the getaway operation…
…then bears. Nuff said.
The coach did give me some aggro for breaking early…
I really should make a guide for the skrubs newbs here.
For me, I tend to play a game like this in a certain set of stages;
- Playing the game the way it should be played… and failing a lot. Because I don’t even.
- Changing the settings to their maximum/minimum settings and seeing how ridiculously unstable the game gets. And continue failing, probably even harder.
- Cheating a bit to see what those people are talking about (or not talking about). Cue a little bit of success, because of said cheats - false positive really.
- Going back to playing normally once I have an idea what the hell I’m actually doing - and yet still not really learning much, to some comedic effect (for myself at least).
- ???
- Absolutely no profit. Because I failed so hard. I go cry some more.
So yeah, give me a bit and I’ll eventually start playing it right. Maybe.
Ammo isn’t included, though. :-([/quote]
Yeah found that out. It’s all good though as I did find some .45 in the shop and proceeded to make his day. So far been a good play through might even make it to summer.
Abusing medical mutagen has turned me into both a pain junkie of the highest order and a man deadened to pain itself. My character must feel like an addict that can’t find a vein.
Wondered how long it’d take for someone to get both Cenobite and Deadened.
I hope you know you’ve made me embark on a quest for pain…
Fortified a Fire Station, found some good loot, made some tools, and I /think/ there is more than the thirteen zombears outside… A lot more.
…
…
And by ‘more’, I mean “I’m going to need a [glow=red,2,300]Nuke[/glow] for this shiz” levels of more.
It’s the Zombearpocalypse outside, and all I have is a trench knife… And some clothes, but those won’t be much help.
Intentional.
[glow=limegreen,2,300]Cenobite’s Quest: The Herald Of Elysium[/glow]
i raided a lab and later upgraded my experimental after some time i enter surface to throw some things in my bike and go to sleep later i see a 1 blob but i cant kill him so i locked him in room with disector now i have a horde of bloobs what i cant kill (100+ hit from katana do not do anything) i managed to escape with teleportation cbm but my bike is still here at least i grinded my mele skills
Decided I will play on a proper world now, after the amusement of burning down such a huge city wore off after I got blown up. Damn.
Went down to the basement, grabbed a bottle of water (didn’t see any zombies at this point, i barely walked inside) Went back up and walked outside, a giant wolf spider awaits, so I grab the rock I wanted and scurry back in just to see;
[tt]From the northwest you hear a sound on the stairs!
You see a fat zombie on the stairs!
The fat zombie is almost at the top of the stairs!
You talk to yourself for a moment.[/tt] (didn’t mean to do that -.-)
[tt]The fat zombie is almost at the top of the stairs!
The fat zombie comes up the stairs![/tt]
Screw it. I don’t even remember there BEING zombies in the basement before.
Also on the topic, I still don’t really understand the vehicle controls. Like, I can get in and drive it. But if I try to open or close the doors with ‘o’ or ‘c’, pick up items with ‘g’ or ‘;’ it just examines the vehicle. I expect the pick up items is something else, but I swear the open/close thing is the same.
(If you still want to write that “[tt]Guide for dummies newbs Skrubs - How to Apocalypse[/tt]” then it could probably prove useful…)
EDIT: At least the basement was packed with stuff and the fat zombie dropped a nail gun.
Then zombears. WHY IS IT ALWAYS THE BEARS!
I’m not sure you can close/open doors while driving. You can let go of the controls and do so, but that runs the risk of losing control of the vehicle.
Sorry, I mean such s when on foot.
I walk up on foot. hit the open key, "Open what? (Direction key…)"
If I point to a vehicle door or trunk, it examines the vehicle (the one where you review the stats, fuel, batteries as well as adding and removing bits)
Same with using g or ; while standing freely at the back trying to access trunk storage.
In the meantime, I spawned with a random character, grabbed a vehicle and promptly crashed and died because I had one of those percent less health traits… Going very fast probably didn’t help, but the group of zombies was too tempting.
Eh, but I’m notoriously bad at doing things I said I’d do.
i just discovered great devensive barier what can kill enemy after you gave some traping skills get teleporter pads from lab and place them around you if all enemy around you are mele fighters they will be teleported back without chaving chance to atack so you can heal body and repair armor or reload weapon sometimes enemy will teleport in another enemy so this work well agaist big amout of hostilles
this have only 2 downsides:
[ul][li]do not defend agaist flying and range fighting things[/li]
[li]sometimes enemy can step on teleporter and do not teleport so you must stop repaing/healing/sleeping and kill that thing[/li][/ul]
Just killed a whole bunch of zombies who were all wearing bras and panties, so either the town I spawned next to is inhabited mainly by women, or the men of the town had some strange underwear preferences
