I started up a new character (a not that smart lumberjack this time), sneaked into a house through the forest, and hit the jackpot this time: hotplate and cargo pants!

EDIT: A ton of zombies are homing in on me. There are waaaay more than I would expect to be in a forest, and they’re coming from all sides. I’m trying to craft a wood axe to get my car through a bit of forest, but they keep interrupting me. SO I’M GOING TO TURN THEM ALL INTO MUTAGEN!

EDIT2: They’re coming faster now, I have to be killing constantly to keep up. I think they followed the sound of the Solar Roller V and are only now catching up. I’m staying on top of things using the power of a Granade and a diamond katana. I got a little bit of a reprieve now that most of them are chasing a few friendly spores. My corpse pile grew so big that the items are overflowing onto the next tile.

EDIT3: There’s a huge crowd around the last spore, 3-5 zombies deep. Thank the Lord of the Cataclysm for my 22 in melee and that no hulks have shown up.

EDIT4: The crowd is growing and new zombies join it constantly. I can’t even go near the thing because of the spitter zombies.

EDIT5: Night fell and all but a few zombies lost sight of the spore. I turned on my cranial flashlight and fought all the zombies. The corpse pile overflowed into a third tile. My clothes are torn and battered, but I am uninjured except for a little bit of electrocution I took earlier. I killed the spore with a laser shot and killed the last of the zombies. The debug menu says there are no hordes left for miles. It is finished.

EDIT6: I slept and ate. In the morning, just my luck, there were more zombies. I killed these ones, butchered the corpses, and looted them. One of the zombies had a fire axe so I didn’t have to craft one anymore.

EDIT7: I hacked a way through the forest, drove my car through, repaired the scrapes, killed some more zombies, tossed the fire axe, and drove off.

About hordes…

…someone else updated their game from the old Reaper’s horde mod(where you could see a huge area where the horde COULD show up) to the new horde mod(where you have a much more precise view of where they were)… and realized that…

…the new mod converted every single “probable” map square where there could be a horde in a square that [glow=red,2,300] HAD a horde[/glow]? Found out the hard way, trying to retrace my steps -__-.

So, making some quick calculations, probably 22000 potential zombies waiting, but nah, i just looked it once, pushed a little and then never went back there.

I haven’t been on since I forgot my password, but over the weekend here’s something amazing in one of my games.

I maxed out City Size, put zombie spawns on 50 and loot to bottom. Oh, and surrounded start with a Bionic Soldier

I manged to just get the hell out of dodge when I got to the subway and got into the sewers, then I did a L4D thing, where I had to get to the River, where someone was supposed to pick me up, with L4D music in the background and me constantly running away from the HUGE ASS ZOMBIE HORDE IN THE SEWERS and BAM

After spraying down about 200 zombies and getting 1/10 of the way to the FUCKING RIVER my dude finally got tired at about… 5 AM in the morning, with no zombies following I ducked into a matience (or whatever its called…) hallway and slept.
Whoops

Heard talking in my sleep, and banging on the metal doors
OH GOD RUN

I manged to above ground and got into a Car and just drove.

Three days of constant running, sewer sleeping, and two mutations I manged to get to the river.
(And one real life day.)
With all my limbs intact.

Then, out of fucking no where a car GOES INTO THE RIVER AND EXPLODES, ONE TILE AWAY IS CERTAIN DEATH
After surviving that, I just say “Fuck This” and then there’s this HUGE horde coming to the explosion and I fight to the death, when I manage to get into a boat and FLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

The survivors have escaped!

That was the most god-damn fun I have ever had in CATACLYSM DDA

I had a M249 with about 200 bullets left, and I had a combat knife with 20 C-4’s and 80 grenades.

And I was wearing basic gear…

I just found out that some labs can be radiation labs.

I’m sitting outside the lab now, my radiation count sits at 1900, my pain at 362. The only reason I haven’t died now is because of Repair Nanobots. The only reason I haven’t run out of power yet is because I have over 424000 power and Marloss berries. So there I am, vomiting and delirious with pain, high as fuck on Marloss berries, in the pouring rain.

My pain is at 971 now, and my radiation level climbed to over 2000 despite the fact that I got it back down to 1300 with the Radiation Scrubber System. What gives?

EDIT: I cheated in a Geiger counter because this is just insane. It shows that the ground’s radiation level is 0 and mine is around 1900, with only 4 from items on my person. This is it, I have no idea what is going on. I’m cheating myself Radiogenic.

EDIT2: After that, I used my scrubbers and about 20000 power to get rid of all my radiation. After a little bit, I checked my radiation and noticed it was going back up. I got in my car and booked it. Now my radiation is going back down. The Geiger counter must have lied. Bug? Almost certainly.

Was playing a character who had fencing as a style, because I wanted to try out a stylish character. Found a broadsword in a pawn shop, turns out fencing’s quite good at taking down Shocker Zombies with counters while paralyzed. Somehow. Then walked straight into a landmine. Turns out all those tie clips and brooches and watches and necklaces don’t protect from shrapnel.

Do you have any damaged atomic powered things in your inventory? Just as damaged batteries will leak charge over time damaged radioactive things will leak radiation over time.

I finally figured out something super amazing guys.

NPCs shoot you if you have too many mutations, and most of the time now they CAN KILL YOU WITH ONE HIT

I might not be wearing bullet proof clothes, and I might not be wearing Plate, but at least don’t 1-hit kill me with your random M249 spam.

Also, I find your lack of faith in clothes to be disturbing…
