Katana is faster, but Nodachi is hella bigger and is a bit slower. And awesome stats. But personally I like katanas.

Yes.
I generally use a broadsword or nodachi, depending on what I’m up against. Once I find a cvd machine I might see how the diamond katana compares though.
If there’s more than one enemy (but fewer than 20) I’ll use the broadsword.
Against a ton of enemies, I’ll lure them into a building and throw a couple of molotovs at them.
However, if there’s only one zombie I’ll use my nodachi and destroy it in a single blow.
i like katana more than board sword because is faster and lithter i have 2 reinforced katanas from mainson and botch are reinforced and with scabbad if something fast and hart to hit apear (skeletal dog, zombie kid, manhack) i just use my crossbow or throw katana
Crossbows are for wimps, real men use shotguns! Explosive or buckshot is a matter of your choice though.
(Though since I’m overpowered I’m not that worried about using shotguns.)
OVERPOWERED, YOU SAY? YOU HAVEN’T SEEN ME.
My equipment. Warning, big image.
And my bionics. Moderately big image.
Almost forgot my stats. Big image. This was uhh… after the fight. :l
Did it. I messed up and hit one while I was placing them, but wevs.
Aftermath:
That last part really gets me. Apparently I was shooting while laying down with my bow…
Don’t say you’re overpowered unless you literally get on my level.
OK, zombie ninja coming up just as soon as I get these merges finished…
KA101 may be joking. Or he may be serious. ???
Literary? Better get on the books then man.

I’m sure everyone would piss their pants if they saw zombie ninja (aka Kito McUrist) coming at them.
Grr.
Just started my 2nd game in the cutting edge experimental build, hordes on.
1st game, I did pretty well (still alive actually), found a mansion and had just cleared it out but didn’t realize the weather effects were so different. Character is alive, healthy, but chilly and I don’t feel like fussing with tailoring right now so started a new game.
2nd game, EVAC shelter is south of a large river. Across the river is a mansion. Can I relive my semi-successful last start?!
Too wide to swim the river. Don’t want to risk it, plus with these new weather mechanics, who knows my luck while wet and chilly.
Single, two lane bridge to the west, close to a megamall (great! I’ll clear the mansion, then come back to loot this sucker! And the river? Water for days! Medium town even further south? This is too perfect!) but safe enough to sneak the edges. All goes as planned. I outrun a couple of fat zombies, not even bothering to attack, and cross the bridge, noting on my map the two easily accessible cars blocking the road that just need gas and batteries.
The mansion is perhaps 7 map tiles away. I should use this opportunity to pick some bushes and get my survival trained while I have focus to burn. That’s the most powergamey thing to do right? Now that throwing rocks at random ground spaces doesn’t train throwing… And look at that, these tiny swamp tiles are loaded with bushes…
You fall down a sinkhole.
1 Short range teleport later, I’m royal jelly. Hopefully my next survivor will discover my remains and use them to cure his flu.
EDIT: Just started another game, same world. SAME STARTING LOCATION. The RNG is rewarding me for sharing my tragic tale with you all!
I found the tiniest lab ever last night. The finale was adjacent to the entrance. One floor, nine tiles total.
Last character got murdered going into a military bunker. Should have paid more attention to bullet proof armor I guess. Oh well gave me an excuse to download latest experimental build.
So my new character has found a house that was already boarded up and all that good stuff. Lots of food, meds, soldering iron etc. from surrounding houses. Easy street. Oh wait, I’m about to freeze to death because I’m used to not having to worry about the weather. Loving it.
Ya’ll some noobs.
Playing on 0.25 item spawn and 1.3 (static) monster spawn now. Only 4th clown was able to survive (his predecessors died to skeletal dogs and a z9). He’s wielding a broadsword, packing a revolver, driving an armored car, and searching for books to get the electronics and fabrication necessary to construct welding and forge rigs. Apparently, crafting/dissassembly only works to about 4, after that you quickly lose rare materials on unsuccessful crafts of high-level stuff like kitchen buddies and whatnot. He’s also found a set of medieval armor, helm included. I am thinking about putting him into it and going to a military bunker with a jackhammer and some pipe bombs to deal with turrets, because he can’t craft EMPs yet, and I’m afraid of losing him to a turret explosion.
Damn, the mental image of an ironclad knight wielding a jackhammer and lobbing grenades gives off some heavy Mark Twain vibes.
Also in this particular map there were six mansions so far, and five of them were within spawn radius of fungal towers. Were there recent changes to worldbuilding?
I found what best can be called an npc town (there were, like, 8 of them all within eye sight). I was then promptly murdered by zombies in said town after punching a shocker destroyed my trenchcoat (doesn’t make any sense) forcing me to drop a bunch of stuff.
By the time I could act again, my torso was at a fraction of a bar of health and I was nearly naked.
Edit: I also dropped a garage door on a child zombie. It permanently broke that part of garage door and the zombie was unharmed 0.o

Yeah, steer clear of shockers unless you either have a high damage dealing weapon (like Katana’s or swords in general.) or a gun,I don’t know if punching a shocker causes to get get shocked even more then hitting them with a weapon does.
Weird, the only time I managed to drop a garage door on a zombie it ended up splattering the thing everywhere.
So, I just started up another character (the previous got mauled by two different hordes attacking thanks to an NPC flinging high explosives around). Standard item spawn, 1.5x Zombie spawn, static and wander, with size 5 cities. I’m 20 turns in or so, and it’s already getting interesting. To start with, my starting evac shelter is wedged between a city (with an office tower being the closest building), a FEMA camp, a beehive, a slime pit, and a triffid grove. Which, on the brightside, makes deciding where NOT to camp pretty darn easy.
As usual, I then proceed to the next step before setting out: check the basement. So I head down, open the door… and notice that there’s a LOT of stuff piled near it. Now, I’ve had it happen where the evac shelter is just filled to bursting with various supplies before, so I’m getting pretty excited at this point. Finding a nearby flashlight, I click it on, and…
WHOA. This shelter has EVERYTHING. Plenty of food, plenty of water, tons of clothing, various medical supplies, some packs, some general survival gear, a hotplate, a couple improvised weapons, some bedding, a spitter zombie… Wait, what?
Yes, among everything else, there is apparently a spitter zombie. In my evac shelter. Which resulted in a mad dash out of the basement and up the stairs to get a heavy stick to smack the crap out of it with. Thankfully, I survived with only minor injuries (and seriously damaged pants; why do they always go for the pants?), but if the rest of the game goes the same way, this promises to be a very strange and exciting run indeed (although also possibly very short).
(Mind, this isn’t the first time I’ve run into a zombie in the evac shelter basement. Another character (and my shortest-lived one to date) opened the door and promptly had a Feral Hunter eat his face. I think I need to start carrying a weapon into the basement from here on out.)
EDIT: Apparently “very short” was right. I steered clear of the city and headed into the woods to try and find some place safe to lay low. Spotted some dead scientists and thought I managed to steer clear of that, but a Mi-go clocked me from ~60 meters out and chased me clear across about 10 map tiles before it finally caught up. Never stood a chance.
If you get a “Treasure trove” basement in your shelter then expect one or two zombies,if it’s like most shelter basements (Empty with one or two things.) then it’ll be empty of zombies.
How long does it take for a limb to start healing when splinted? I lost my right arm to turret accident, and now running for at least 4 days unable to use many guns.
Also, there seems to be a bug - i can wield G36 and FN-FAL with just one arm. IRL that would be really hilarious.
EDIT: Whyle i was reading a bear smashed my shelter’s door, and ran away. Damn trololo bears
SOLVED by using bandage on broken limb. The game said it’s broken, and next night it healed.

The function is a one_in with base odds long enough that on average it’s a two-week wait. (IRL it’s closer to four, but that’s no fun in-game.) Healthy eating, bed rest, and healing mutations can improve your odds, whilst smoking worsens 'em.
I’d say you lucked out; the bandage would not have affected anything.
