How common AK-47s are vs. Ak-74s really depends on what you consider to be an AK-47. If you count every variant ever, from AKMs to Chinese Type 56s to wz. 60s to AK-103s and what have you, there’s a lot of “AK-47s” out there. If you count AKMs and such as different models than the AK-47 (which Wiki and most other online sources do not), you’ll probably find nearly as many 74s have been built as 47s.
If the only distinction you make is caliber based, then it’s likely 74s will never ever be as common because that little 5.45 round will be phased out before production numbers come close. Still, should be in game either way if stuff like FN 5.7s and other less common guns are.
Fabrique Nationale is a fine Belgian company, and several of our fine corporations do business there. Not that Commie Red Kalashnikov stuff, that’s something a criminal would use. A Commie Criminal.
A Crimunist. That’s it! You’re advocating to put more Crimunist guns on the streets! where they’ll put our children at risk! You hate 'MURICA AND EVERYTHING WE STAND FOR WHY DO YOU HATE 'MURICA!!11!1one!

More seriously, yeah, the setting has a distinct anti-“Soviet”/Russian bias. Pretty much like the 1950s Red Scare. As such, old stuff like SKSes and old AKs might still be around, but the new stuff, not likely.
Because it already got made and merged in. I’m just saying, that if the AK74 isn’t going to get accepted because it’s too obscure then the Arisaka should have even less of a chance.
Why don’t you build balanced JSONs for more weapons and then propose the patch? Optionally, you could build an extended weapons inclusion mod for the less-likely-to-get-added weapons.
a sawn off mosins will be nice to find in basements and on drug dealer corpses ewen if its eastern weapon we alerday have that rifle and it can be created with good skills and tools like we do it with shotgun with simple hacksaw
Once we have the HK416 or whatever is supposed to be the 2048 version of the M16 integrated, sure, the M16 and AK74 could be “Old Guns”'d into mainline.
It IS odd, come to think of it, that there aren’t any .357 handguns.
Shouldn’t they be more common than .40 or .44 even in the future?
Perennial issue. Problem is the one-way ammo interchangeability where .38 can be chambered & fired from .357Mag, but not (safely!) the other way around. DDA’s ammo code supports two-way interchangeability: .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO can be handled by the same firearm, as they’re both typed .223, but not one-way interchangeability.
Could you weapons have a damage resistance factor from their own weapons, and be damaged by bullets that they fire? So that a gun can fire oversized ammunitionm but be damaged in the process? You could even make stupid-powerful ammunition that would wreck any gun, and be dangerous to the operator in most(damage in excess of what the weapon could handle might spill over onto the player) but would be useful if, umm, a single slightly more powerful shot were worth more than the continued use of the weapon… I would imagine that you could chamber most things that are too small with some creative used of wood padding…
We have the 416, I included it when I added the other bunch of present army guns. However, I cant recall if I named it M416, HK416, or neither.
HK, and we do BUT it’s barely integrated into drop lists, etc anywhere. Everyone’s still got the M4A1.
… Guns are intentionally built to be very exact in measurements, getting a LARGER bullet into a gun meant for smaller ones would be impossible. Smaller bullets could potentially go in larger caliber guns, but as all the mechanisms are meant to hold and move a larger caliber it would jam, and possibly not even fire. Additionally, if it DID for some miracle horrible reason actually manage to fire the smaller round it would tear up in the gun some, making it need to be cleaned before reuse or else blow up in users face, as well as the bullet being wildly inaccurate.
ahhhh Yea I think that is in already… sort of. I believe I have heard of punts and such, as well as military/civilian grade ammo etc… but some more crafting options for overcharging the powder might be nice. Have to get someone to look at all the formulas and stuff used in ammo crafting. IRL people make the powders to reflect the expected barrel length etc…
powders are mixed and used not only in various amounts, but also different types of powders especially faster and slower burning. to get the most out of the gun, and the powder. Faster burning powders are used for shorter barrels such as pistols so that all the powder burns and causes gas expansion to peak when the bullet is leaving. Slower burning powders are used on longer barreled weapons so that they don’t finish burning up before the bullet gets to the end, the reason this is all important is because the barrel of rifled weapons(all modern ‘guns’ but not black powder, or launcher type weapons) is ‘rifled’ or has a small grooved spiral down the barrel to give the bullet spin to increase accuracy and reduce tumble. To make this useable instead of the bullet just bouncing down the barrel randomly, the bullet is actually fractionally smaller than the barrel, meaning that those grooves shave some of the lead off of the bullet as it passes by, giving it spin while also creating friction. End result if the gasses stop expanding before the bullet reaches the end of the barrel then it is getting friction while no longer being pushed by the expanding gases.
tl;dr: Adding more powder is often the best way to increase the force behind the bullet, as any self respecting bullet pressing nerd true redneck will tell you E=M*V[sup]2[/sup] or AKA the kinetic energy a bullet has is equal to its mass multiplied by its velocity squared. notice how important that velocity number is. Which makes the powder have a large effect, but anyone with an itch to give that bullet the absolute most energy will go into even more detailed formulas involving length of the barrel and such to make sure they are getting every ounce of oomph they can get on that bulet, changing out for slightly better powders for the weight of powder and all kinds of stuff.
…and people wonder why rednecks dislike being labeled ‘dumb’ with nothing to go on but a southern drawl.
