The ability for numlock to be compatible with both the main menu and the @ Screen.
Aside from that, recursive containers seem a pretty good benchmark for right now.
Alarm clocks would be quite nice too… Or maybe just a beeping watch.

Craftable steel/metal bolts/arrows!
If my character can install an engine, make pipe rifles and grenades welding some metal arrows/bolts from scrap metal and/or a pipe shouldn’t pose a challenge.
Required skills could be something like
mechanics: 4
archery : 4
required tools:
welder OR integrated toolset (x charges)
hacksaw OR integrated toolset
used ingredients:
1 pipe
2 scrap metal
make it happen please ;_;
Oh yes, yes, a thousand times yes! Make it such that steel arrows can pierce thick carapaces, so my archer can actually shoot those damn copbots and spiders.
Obviously it’s something that’d be far off, if anything like it is ever done… but I’d like it if there were varying wilderness biomes that could appear. Perhaps at world creation you could decide on what kind of climate and other details about the world (or randomize them), and depending on what you pick the there could be deserts or jungles or whatever.
Maybe all this wilderness and desert talk is inspired by seeing that zombie movie “The Dead”… since it took place in Africa and they were out in the desert and stuff.
I just want to be able to drop my backpack and it take with it everything it had stored in it
and upon pickup everything was retained.
I want to be able to break walls without grenades, fire, or a jackhammer. There is a sledgehammer item. I could personally break down a wall with a sledge hammer. It would allow us to further customize living spaces that aren’t built from the ground up. currently You can build your own walls with common items, but can’t break them back down without a jackhammer.
I want to be able to disassemble a science lab and use the metal to built my fortress of doom.
You can break down the walls you build, it’s the pregenned walls that can only be destroyed with a jackhammer or explosives.
to those of you talking about stacking issues, such as having batteries (11200) or wooden arrows (460) but not wanting to pick up (or drop) them all - it’s already done. if you type in a number when dropping, and from memory, picking up, and then select what you want to drop/grab, it will only drop/pick up that amount. i only found this out from a random comment in the forums myself, but it helped a lot. is this documented anywhere?
Inspired by a recent topic, i’d like the creatures to fight each other, like bears against zombies against robots and so on.
Just tested it, doesn’t work on pick up. Should probably add that, though.
I think one of the most useful additions to the game, for me, would be if the game would bring up a prompt to enter the number of items to drop instead of invisibly taking note of it. I have trouble with it as is.
It would be useful if I could see my condition while in the vehicle building menu, because I keep exiting the screen to check my thirst, hunger, etc.
The ability to use fur or leather, combined with some string, sinew or plant fiber to make a tile indoors.
I seem to be getting more fur and sinew than I could ever possibly use, but I’m running out of nails, and wood is a bit of a process to collect. I would think I could use some of these furs to save some time and effort.
build IRC into the game client like they do with Tome 4. This way we can chat while playing. We have an IRC channel already. have the game connect or give the option to have it connect and an IRC window come up. this could help newbies stick around.
A high enough Survival and/or Cooking skill should entail a higher understanding of nature around you.
One should be able to identify mushrooms with a high enough skill as well as identify bushes that carry vegetables/berries.
“Sticking in an IRC channel” is probably a vastly bigger challenge than it sounds, and besides, I don’t think ToME exactly uses IRC, rather a proprietary chat system that hooks into its online account thing. The T-Engine is really rather formidable, but Cataclysm has nothing to do wit it.
It’d be nice, but I’d prefer the devteam spend their time improving the game itself.
