I wonder if its a balance thing or if the weight of the has been overestimated.
I currently have a Ruger RedHawk and it weight 12lb while it should be at max 3.3.

Weight units aren’t in pounds. Each in-game weight unit is approximately 250g (similarly each volume unit is ~250 mL).
Which means it’s still a little bit heavy (6.6 pounds) but not too insanely off.
It could be that i am missunderstanding but that would mean it is confusing since in the character menu its telling me that I can carry 170 lb.
It could be that the item and character sheet is not using the same mesure but I get the same from the item menu 170.

That does appear to be a typo/misprint, good catch.
I believe Stats is the only screen where lbs is listed and it hasn’t been changed in quite a while.
