You have to put the right ammo type in (5.56 or .223 in the mounted SAWs for example) and you can’t put in past the things space.
So now that wooden bits are in, I can make much lighter vehicles.
This all purpose one is quite nice, however I cannot help but think that wooden armor is a bit OP, considering it held up to about an hours worth of zombear attacks without even getting damaged…
Does this mean it ignores plating?
If so, is there any reason to put plating anywhere else than on the outer layer of frames, or would that be just an unnescessary mass?
I have an Imgur now, so I can finally post all my vehicles.
This one is basically two electric cars that I combined. It has controls in both seats so that I can control it from both sides. It got reinforced windshields and solar panels later. This is actually a replica, I don’t have a picture of the original.
I made a new car after that character died. This one is a hybrid made from a hippie van and two electric cars. It also has controls in both seats. Those are steel plated reinforced windshields, by the way. I actually took this picture after I started to take it apart, it used to have a water tank.
This is the car I have currently. It is the only car I built from scratch, every other car has been made from one vehicle or another. I think I took apart 4 cars to make this thing. I made it while working out of the Solar Roller II. The fusion turrets, fusion engine, and welding rig came later. Those are actually a steel plated kitchen unit, kitchen buddy, and welding rig. I’ll replace the welding rig if I get something better. Also, in one of the trunks, is a disassembled solar loot wagon called the Sclewter.
…You don’t need a imgur account to upload pictures. You just need to open the main page of imgur and drag the pictures from a folder onto the page.
I had an Idea for an ultra light raiding craft, however I am not entirely sure how well it will work.
It will consist of a basic motorcycle construction, with a storage battery and an electric engine.
The idea behind this is, if I can remove the storage battery after a raid, and charge it using my charging pad in my massive woodcar.
That way I would not need a solar panel on the bike, which would allow for more storage space.
Alternatively I had a rather silly idea of obtaining a bicycle, and attaching an alternator to the foot pedals, thus charging an electric engine, and quite possibly giving me some more speed, I have not tested either of these ideas, so I am not 100% on how they would.
I had another strange Idea, for generating power underground, but I am not sure if “idling” a bicycle would generate electricity.
EDIT:
You cannot install an engine in a vehicle that has foot pedals. You have to install an engine, then foot pedals (WTF)
You cannot install an alternator onto foot pedals.
You cannot make the base frame for a vehicle out of wood from the construction menu, you have to make a metal frame, put a wooden frame next to it and them remove the metal frame.
It’s as if someone tried to nerf making vehicles fun, and either got bored or did a sloppy job.
Vehicles are boring now
Also if you turn off “cruise control” whilst riding a bicycle you can get to ridiculous speeds.
It’s probably not a mater of a nerf, the lack of a wooden construct thing but just forgetting to add it to the building menu, it’s not immediately obvious. I’ll try and fix it when I do lightweight frames.
Still, with all the recent changed in the vehicle department, it is starting to become due for a fix up.
I would try and help, but github.
Unfortunatly that battery idea doesn’t work in 0.9.
I tried it myself before I read this thread and the battery went to zero when I took it out.
I don’t play 0.9, In the latest experimentals I thought batteries kept their charge values.
As of the last experimental (at least), when you remove a battery from a vehicle it retains its charge. I replaced the motor in an ambulance that spawned outside of a garage but was unable to start it up until I replaced the empty battery with a 2% charged one.
Wait, replaced? Ooooooh I just took it out and put it in not replaced. It might work after all!
Right, someone needs to make it so that you can install alternators on floor pedals.
This is a the first vehicle I’ve ever made from scratch. It’s an electric trike. I designed it for inner city raiding, and I planned to use foot pedals, but I couldn’t find chain or a bike, so I used an electric motor instead, along with a solar panel. It turns out that as well as being quiet it it is DAMN fast, so I intend to use it for exploring as well as raiding.
I’m pretty sure if you go top speed in that thing and hit a bush, you would explode.
Hoorays for wooden frames! Uber-bike is now reality!
XL Frame + Seat + Controls + V12 Engine + Small Gas Tank.
BE AFRAID.
Dont forget tires.
Unicycle wheel. Go big or go home.
Wait, shouldn’t the dildomobile have some kind of foot crank thing to simulate you… um… having sex with it to move?
Or is that how you steer?
