Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!
I got smashed the last time I went into a frozen lab. This time I have the following gear:

Thermal Electric Outfit (UPS) (I have UPS CBM)
Heavy Survivor Suit
Heavy Survivor Gloves
Survivor Trenchcoat
Heavy survivor mask
Steel leg guards
flame-resistant socks
ANBC suit
Survivor rucksack

I also have climate control CBM. Any other items to bring?
I wear everything. I focus on the head and hands since they dont benefit from any blankets.

I just noticed that I cannot move through a square that has wiring in it. May put my construction plans on hold, hmm…

I’m on an old build so this may be old news.

Can all of these items be made Vorpal now as well?

I believe so although it is only a chance to become vorpal when you kill a jabberwok.

Can weapons have all three damage types?
I was going to also ask why I couldn’t diamond coat a lajatang however I looked at the item again and saw that the item was made of iron so never mind.
How does diamond coating work nowadays? I took a long break from cataclysm shortly after they changed it. Originally it was done at a special machine in the lab and worked on about 5 specific weapons. I’ve heard that it works on alot of stuff now and you do it through the crafting interface. Is there somewhere that I can find a list of things that can be diamond coated?
Unfortunately no however here is the general way it seems to work. 1. Item has a cutting damage value 2. Said item is made of steel. Those seem to be the only requirements.
There has to be a certain amount of cutting damage required. I think at least 6 cutting. And yes, material has to be made of steel; hard steel, aluminum, budget steel, and superalloy can’t be diamond coated if its components don’t have normal steel in it.

Depending on I think the size of the weapon will change the required amount of hydrogen and steel to diamond coat the blade. The increased amount seems to depend on it’s cutting damage, so a small cutting weapon - like say a barbed wire bat won’t get a noticeable increase in cutting damage.

Furthermore, with regards to getting the vorpal strike technique, the diamond coated weapon has to be at a certain minimum size. I think 1L or 1.5L volume size or more can get the vorpal strike upon killing a Jabberwock, so diamond coated weapons like tiger claws won’t get vorpal strike no matter how many Jabberwocks you kill.

These is also a [NO_CVM] tag on some things stopping you from diamond coating some otherwise coat-able things

Can you give examples?

Oops, the tag is [NO_CVD] I know that the RM42 fighting knife has it but I don’t know what else off the top of my head and i’m too lazy to go look. CTL+F the .json files if your really interested… Item browser might be able to give you a list of everything with the tag.

Pretty sure their was nothing with the tag in melee.json so unless you want to diamond coat something really exotic, you’re probably safe.

besides no cvd there is also the stab and spear tags which also invalidate a mod for diamondizing.

Yeah I installed behind my vehicle some “wiring” and a “seat” for an NPC that had just joined me, and afterwards realized it couldn’t be sat on/mounted… whoops. You can however put down a “handle” with 1 pipe, and then put down a seat. So I ended up doing that, and now I have a bunch of cargo racks looking like tumors or growths or something on my cargo truck because I ran out of storage space while out on my current loot run. I should probably head home, or maybe not pick up everything shiny I see. XD

Welp I am disappointed in the fact that diamond coating something does not make the item become diamond (i.e. it adds the diamond material to the coated item).

Is the Amigara Fault no longer a repeatable event? It won’t let me initiate the tremor test a second time. Bug or feature?

That was an intentional change unfortunately.

You must have been gone a while, because I think that was removed like a year ago. I didn’t like it then either.

I thought it was only a few months ago if that.

Newb questions here;

How do I set up a funnel on to my vehicles external tank to collect rain water? Is it even possible?

If you use a Steel Boom to lift a vehicle, it can lift up to 20 metric tonnes. (40,000 lb’s) but does that mean using two Steel Boom’s can lift up to 40 metric tonnes? Does it stack?

That was an intentional change unfortunately.
Yeah, I’m fairly certain that was my fault, actually - I posted a way to abuse that feature rather badly (build walls next to the fault in every space but one, and only one horror will spawn - kill it, get artifacts, lather, rinse, repeat), and the devs made that change very shortly after. Mea culpa - sorry.

As I remembered, Deoxy once said he has another exploit, but he won’t tell so it won’t get fixed.

Bummer.
