Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Say guys how do I get clean water plz?

Just kidding, I was wondering where the heck I can find an actual welder. Or if a welder can modify weapons/armor akin to a tailor kit.

try a soldering iron for a lot of weapons, garages i guess? i think welders can also be in garages honestly.

does anyone know how to scroll the log upwards? i took all my drugs at once by mistake and i want to remember what kind they were.

The most a welder can do is repair and reinforce metal items(except guns). Although you can use a tailor’s kit to modify metal armor(or at least I think you can). As far as I know welders usually spawn in garages public works and hardware stores.

You mean the default P yeah just up arrow.

I found a welder in the new dairy farm.

Speaking of welders how can one accurize a crossbow in the new versions? Tried resinous cord, basic repair kits, soldering iron and makeshift welder none of them allow me to improve it anymore.

Anyone got any tips on clearing a chunk of forest? There are two tiles of forest separating my starting area from a huge city, and I’d like to be able to drive into it, rather than walking in/out every time.

I considered setting it all on fire, but didn’t know if that was wise or effective :stuck_out_tongue:

Lol I told you it was a brand new feature… facepalm XD.

I think it’s only now standard as again in various previous versions it worked so I guess it was more of an on again off again feature.

I also would like to know this, I can make everything ++ except my ||crossbow. Gunsmith/firearm kit doesn’t work, Basic repair kit doesn’t work, welder/soldering iron, etc. and it’s always the only item I have left in my inventory that isn’t reinforced. Is there a way?!

Yeah maybe it was, you’ve been playing longer than me I think, I’m still fairly new. I just know the day I posted about it(2 days ago?) that it was the first game it every happened for me, and I’ve actually used a crossbow and quiver ever since I started except for a couple times I used the reflex recurve bow and quiver instead. So that’s why I was so excited.

If you clear out the trees and bushes around the edges to contain the fire with empty dirt squares it should be fine. I’ve done it way back on a previous version, though that was back when logs wouldn’t burn all the way, so it might take longer or get hotter now.
I haven’t done it for a while, since what I usually do with forests is drive along and look for a naturally clear/narrow spot and then just cut the few trees I need to drive my vehicle through.

I do that all the time and I use the most current version, it’s very effective (more than I thought) just build a flame-thrower and disregard everything Smoky ever told you and nature will be an obstacle no longer.

be careful though, the way I do it, I just set the edge of the forest on fire on certain points, then I back away to a safe distance, then just wait until the fire goes out, rinse and repeat until the way is clear or the forest is gone.

does blood still smell?

Speaking of smell, how does it work? Do I just generate a spreading AOE where enemies can realize I’m nearby? Oh yeah, and what the heck is a blob mass and where do I get it?

the blob mass is part of the vehicles additions mod, it’s the first step in making a blob car, (look for blob parts on the vehicle examine menu) I think you either auto learn it or you can find that recipe on some books found in labs.

I’ve been thinking of exploring mutations and I’m curious to know what’s the best way to maximize “Prime Stat” gains.

Afaik under current multiple pool system getting 18 in a stat (putting 15 in it at char gen) is disadvantageous since you must siphon those extra two points from another stat dropping it to 6 (->8) and recieving net gain of 19 points (15/8/8/6 -> 18/15/15/8) from all the mutations as opposed to 28 point gain in 8/8/8/8 -> 15/15/15/15. It seems to me that some rebalancing there could be useful?

Also, do stat enhancing CBM’s stack?

Thank You.

What do you mean do stat enhancing cbms stack? If you mean what I think you mean with the prime mutations no as those cbms act like stat buffs rather than say stat changes do to stats through skills.

Stat enhancing cbms don’t stack. You only get one boost from them.

The best way to do Alpha is with less than 15 in all stats. This will get you 17 in all stats with Prime plus stat boosting cms. Alpha is for generalist characters. If you plan on specializing in the use of a single stat above all others then you should maximise that stat in character creation and take a mutation path that boosts it greatly. For example: a zui Quan using slime would dump Str (It’s going to drop to 1 anyway from the slime mutations) boost int and wind up with 30 or so int in the late game.

[s]Maybe they are asking if you can install 2 hydraulic muscles and activate both for +40 strength instead of +20. Or maybe add 2x Cerebral Booster CBMs for +4 perception, instead of just +2.

I’m not sure if you can do that or not TBH, if that’s what you were asking. [/s]

Hey DeWolf, or anyone who might know, did you ever find out a way to reinforce a crossbow? to make it ++crossbow like a gunsmith kit would reinforce a gun, or how the welder/soldering iron can reinforce a melee weapon?
