Do I need to be putting iron sights on my crossbow or heavy crossbow? I thought I read that most ranged weapons come with some sort of base integrated sight or something, but am still a tad confused on this.
How can I set up safe mode so that dogs trigger it at 5 tiles away, but everything else stays the same. Every time I try and set it up, it seems to work for a bit and then doesn’t when I save and start later, and sometimes even during game play. It just acts like safe mode is off.

I find iron sights to be only useful if the weapon in question has a sight dispersion greater than 120.
Is it possible to weld repeatedly without having to scavenge for batteries? I have a makeshift welder, but no recipes for UPS or vehicle welding rig.
Well there is the atomic battery mod. But what do you mean by weld repeatedly, vehicle stuff, repairing metal items or crafting?

But anyways without a vehichle welding rig or bionics you are going to need either batteries and for the makeshift welders lots of them or some plutonium for atomic battery mods.
How’s your fabrication level and so you have access to a hacksaw?
Fabrication 1. I have some books that require a min level so I might be able to grind up to be able to read.
Yes hacksaw.
Well here is a proposal if you are inside a house tear the place apart a bit and craft stuff(preferably stuff that can be disassembled)until you get fabrication to either 2 or 3 then you can make wooden frames and wheels. Then you can take a seat, controls and probably a foot crank or some other mode of propulsion you can make a basic wooden bike without as many welds so you can either find proper tools or more batteries.
Well I found a book and got my fab level to 9. Can get it to 10 I guess if I keep reading. It should be possible to weld directly off of your car given the video.
Well, to get to the next library, I need to fight through a bunch of zombies. Has anyone perfected a way of killing masses of zombies? I don’t have illnesses/infections, but I just have melee weapons. Any efficient way of taking care of 20-30 zeds without getting banged up?
Why do you need fabrication 10? Also the only non modded books that train skill that high is the lab joirnal gustav. Generally the only way to deal with that kind of horde with only melee weapons and little to no armor are vehicles at high speed.
I don’t need to get to 10. I just had to wait for my arms to heal and had nothing to do.
This is the latest experimental.
My question now is how to kill masses of zombies without getting hurt. Can I trap them somehow and spam them with arrows? Fire?
Provided you are going at sufficient speed, there are no non mob obstacles and you have a seatbelt then my suggestion would not get you hurt but would probably total the vehichle in question. Also how big are the masses?

That’s what I’ve been doing! The vehicle’s front is gone! It’s why I need the welder. The vehicle is so messed up I have to get out and kill enemies on foot before proceeding.
I have an entrenchment tool so I can dig a pit at a choke point. Can zeds get out of pits? I was thinking of digging a deep pit, trapping a zed there, then spamming with arrows until it’s dead.
Oh. Unfortunately Zeds can climb out of pits, also they take a while to dig but you can also fill said pits with spikes and or glass. Unfortunately it looks like you best bet is to get away and either fight gen on the fringes or make a distraction to draw them away.
At night (when it’s not raining), place some fuel in a 3x3 square (a few 2x4s per square, or equivalent) close enough that they would see in the day time. Then light the square closes to them. Wait a couple of turns to make sure they see you, then run away quickly. The zombies will converge on the last place they saw you, and the fire will get going…
Just don’t forget to come back an hour or two later and pulp the corpses.
