Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

I still find that stupid at least for the mechanic where you need to set up a heavy weapon. As according to when you try to fire it it says you have to stand NEXT to some furniture or something like that which makes a lot more sense than firing a 50 cal machine gun while standing on top of a couch. Also I think shrubs do work with that as it seems to be any passable terrain that is normally difficult to traverse, except maybe puddles that I never tried.

That is a weird mechanic, though I can understand it from the game point of view even if it is a bit weird with bushes.

Any furniture or vehicle part with the MOUNTABLE flag.

I have double barrel shotgun but double fire mode doesn’t work at all(with 00 shot and birdshot). It fires but only from one barrel. Is it a bug?

You’ve changed fire modes with shift+f ? If so, I think it probably is a bug… I usually use the Remington 870 since that my most used IRL gun and what I got that bad boy in my avatar with…*end brag, so not 100% sure on the double barrel(though I’ve seen them put people on their asses when firing both shots IRL)… speaking of do you need a certain strength maybe that is preventing you from doing it… not sure if the recommended strength thing works like that though?

Is it possible to spawn specific types of buildings, more specifically - houses with overmap editor? I want to look at bee/wasp/cult/modern houses but it’s basically trial and error for me.

debug map tiles sounds like what you are looking for.

overmap special editor. but theres a few constraints…

1 - you cannot have moved your reality bubble into the area you want to debug yet.
2 - these houses are randoed out of normal ‘house’. each house has a chance to become any of all the house types, but we can’t force them to spawn except brute forcing them and generating the map tile.

3 - combine one and two and thus three becomes evident.

What are the specific actions needed to raise close-range combat skills past… say, level 8. Someone mentioned fighting stronger enemies, but what enemies are we talking about? Hulks, or tank drones? Should a strong weapon be wielded, or a weak one? Would higher encumbrance affect learning? Does martial arts affect leveling up the skill? That sorta thing.

On the same note, how does one train survival past level 8. Right now my survivor has level 8 survival plus 3 percent, and it’s driving me crazy on how that 3% was gained.

Also, it seems that you can disable learning specific skills. Does that help make other skills train faster?

actually, if you know the id or a unique enough partial id (_wasp or _modern, for example) you may be able to use the overmap terrain edittor. accessed via the same overmap editor as the specials.

I have no idea there. I’ve only seen books that will get you up to 8. Beyond that I’d guess it is pure luck if it increases?

Does the jabberwocky still give a modifier to cutting weapons? If so which weapons work and how does it work.

Thanks, I’ll fiddle with it when I get the chance

Well, yes, in that it prevents you from dumping your focus into those disabled skills, leaving it available to train the skills you want.

How to make dirt floor insteead of rock or wooden floor for purpose of building water well in base for ease of crafting (aside from bringing down wall or bulding wall to include dirt tiles)?
Yeah, base is modifeid not built from scratch ohterwise i woudl have left some dirt tile…

Wood floor burns to dirt, 8 braziers to contain the fire.

XD

I am fast approaching endgame, but for reasons unknown world gen has given me only three labs in three whole overmap sections so i have not been able to loot any high tier armor. What is the best protection I can craft? I have a forge rig, enough books to get fabrication 10 and plenty of material, currently in a full survivor suit with gloves hood and boots. I want to raid a vault but don’t know if my protection is enough. Scrap suit looks promising for sheer protection

Body protection in vanilla the heavy survivor suit. For other body parts some other armors however the survivor stuff comes with good environmental protection as well which stuff like the great helm or whatever doesn’t have. Also the heavy survivor suit stuff is great as you have 100% coverage.
Generally the other stuff that provide superior protection is the power armor stuff -rivtech suit. However they all can only be worn by themselves with exception of the salvaged power armor.

scrap suit isnt tough so it can be broken down quickly if you have bad rolls.
i recomend survivor wetsuit and plate armor.thats basically immunity to enviroment and acid attacks (need rubber boots though) and strong physical protection.
