They dont work in stable. Or atleast not the ones with bullets. Dropping ammo on them wont work.
Where do you get the experimental versions?
Main page…
Also, its the stable version that I was referring to. I have not checked the experimental for that yet.
I’m on an experimental version from about a week ago.
Oh ah. Allright.
how do I move furniture? I am watching a lets play where the guy grabs it and moves it but I cant figure it out. I know how to do it via asterisk but what is the other way?
Shift g and then direction of the furniture and then direction you wanna move it to.
it just tells me there is no vehicle to move there
Are you playing a pre .8 world?
no sir
hrmm Let try and be more specific then. Make sure you’re standing next to the piece of furniture you want to move.

KP=keypad
In that scenario you would push the following keys: Shift+g KP4 KP8
That should push the bookshelf 1 square north.
go in the construction menu (+), then choose “move furniture”
The “let’s player” you are observing appears to be using an experimental build - 0.8 stable does not allow you to move furniture using the “G” key.
In other words, just play the experimental build.
thank you. this was really frustrating me! I will stick with the normal .08 build
This may seem silly, but I don’t interact with NPCs too often (mostly because they seem to always want to run in the other direction before I’m even in sight range.)
Is there any way to tell an NPC to just wait somewhere, once you’ve convinced them to follow you?
I mention that because I can se various ‘combat options’ available when I talk to them but it seems like really the most basic/useful way I would have of interacting with them (collecting live NPCs to guard a base/camp seems like a pretty decent goal) I’m using the 0.8 stable build to note.
NPCs in the stable will either try to kill you or run away. They will also bug out your game a crash it.
KEEP AWAY FROM NPCS.

If you open the construction menu, you can make a “bulletin board.” Once allied NPCs are near this “bulletin board,” you can ask them to stay at the place where the “bulletin board.” However, when staying at this “bulletin board,” the NPCs become static and lose their alliance with you.
I have a noob question! I started playing a bit ago and the game is pretty fun. My character died (of course, it’s a roguelike :P) and I was thinking of making a new one. But I see that there is supposed to be a new version soon.
If I start the game now, will I have to start over when the next release comes? I don’t really want to have to start over after just a couple real life weeks.
We do all that we can to provide save compatibility between versions. In the rare case that something might break compatibility, you’ll be notified in the release notes.
Just install in a separate directory and copy your save folder to upgrade to a new version. I keep mine up-to-date on the nightly experimental builds for testing new stuff while I play, and I’ve had the same character going since early 0.7 with only a few minor hiccups along the way.
I have some # rubble heap I can’t seem to do anything to clear after I jackhammer’d a wall. It was an unimportant wall, but before I attempt remodelling my home base, I want to make sure I won’t have a ton of unclearable crud everywhere.
How to clear house rubble?
