Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Holy penisapples!

^^ this was relevant, as I was using the 64 bit version and I has needed the 32.

But it works! I used the downloaded linux version -that was already compiled- and with that and some troubleshooting I now have a brand-new version running.

the compiled bit was still returning 1 error, and after some attempts at it I stopped after that giant mess of ‘strance’. Id love to because I could then start trying to C++ edit the game up. But its that 1 error. I got astyle, I got this liblua, and lua, and I got a bunch of other stuff, like doxygen and cmake.

So… Ill give it a final try to compile it because Id probably prefer to but… this works. Its running in the terminal itself, it looks like.

pedit:

 • Nope. The downloaded precomiled version didnt help. It suffered from the same problem as using wine. But I deleted the source and recompiled it and it works! Or at least has when I tested out the hell castle. Will add in my beta version and test. But I was ready to at least try clang. It took maybe 15 minutes to do the whole thing, I hope its faster for the updates. I did pick up ccache as a precaution.

thanks, indigorian
Well, I am glad that you have figured it out and got it working. It can be really tricky sometimes. My experience is that recompiling does take a long time–as long as it took to compile it in the first place. It’s a thing that I set in motion when I am going to be doing something else, like taking a shower, cooking food, going to work out, etc.
When you go to a public works station, do you see shockers?
I ask because I didnt, and it was off. Its funny because I checked a few places, but now Im skeptical that they werent?

:? I just want to see what other people will see. If I cant tell how hard/unreasonable adding in maybeinvisible zombies to the prison start will be, or if Ive addressed the errors people are complaining about wrt spaawns on top of one another because the game isnt loading any of those…
Do a crafting recipes search for:

skill Required:First Aid
Craft anything that has the same requirement as your current level
OR
Get NPC to train you
OR
Use First aid equipment on yourself or NPC’s, preferably after having crafted it for more XP
Sorry I should have clarified. I didn’t have any skill in first aid and needed to make an arm splint and couldn’t craft anything first aid related.
Starting as a regular survivor in the middle of nowhere is !FUN! with a different set of challenges.

Not in every Public Works Station, but most of them.

also depends on settings, am using static spawn and i just had 6 shockers at the last public works i went to. got a joint torsion ratchet and a power storage off of two of them.

So, I’m legitimately curious: My character has night vision, so they can see a good distance out into the dark - but I just noticed that if I activate a glowstick my range of vision is reduced to the eight tiles around me.

It’s a silly question, but is this actually an intended effect? I ask because whether or not it was intended, it’s surprisingly accurate to how having a bright object near your field of view can affect how far out you can see into the darkness. Tricky to describe what I mean but yeah.

yes, your, and other critters, night vision requires you to be in dark to work.

the light blinds you by constricting your pupils.

so throwing alit flare at shady zeds blinds them

Sweet, that’s a really cool little touch!

Is the repeater mod that radio station computers want craftable? Curious minds want to know…

radio repeater? i think you need one for quest in the vault but i know nothing about using it on anything

Yeah, I’ve never been able to do any of the vault quests - playing 5x spawn, they’re always dead before I can get to them.

I have just had a cunning plan. Has anyone tried this yet?

Can you use the robot controls/vehicle remote controller to control the vehicle turrets?

It occured to me that this might be the only viable use for the AP rifle turret’s ridiculously long range. If you can leave your vehicle then tell it to give you covering fire from pretty far away.

Otherwise I seem to recall the range being much longer than the reality bubble…

yes you can

I remember vaguely doing this quest. It should be craftable BUT I think the recipe book for it was nowhere to be found, and I think I ended up using the debug tools to give myself the recipe book… Don’t trust my memory though. Or maybe the repeater didn’t show up in the crafting menu, so I debugged myself one?

How do you destroy a tombstone?

Smash it, run it over, I think you can take a shovel or a pickaxe to it. Its flagged as mineable.

Yea, strike the earth or just get a jaqueshammer

Item database site wasn’t available when I posted this originally. Recipe is in a book that I’ve never ever seen. I’ll give it some time before I debug one…

Why can’t we single fire firearms?

I mean, even without a magazine you CAN fire a gun, as long as you manually place a bullet in the chamber.

Because nobody implemented it. And it is different from normal firing. So that is why it wasn’t ‘simply’ added. (before somebody else asks).

Would make for a nice suggestion: it’s always annoying when you have a rifle and bullets but no magazine.

Maybe make it as a hidden single round capacity magazine that’s universal, and when the true magazine is inserted the bullet in the hidden mag is either:
Dropped
Put in the inventory
Put into the empty mag that’s going to be inserted
Or you simply just have to unload the gun and remove the single round and insert the new magazine.
