I’ve begun farming for the first time ever in my cataclysm career. I have planted cannabis in one row and wild vegetables in another. I used fertilizer on my crops. I just launched the game and examined my crops again. Currently it is night and 36F. I walked over the tiles, and I picked up a great number of cannabis seeds, I think it is the same number as I originally had. A particular patch that I examined–the first one to drop a cannabis seed–dropped a “fertilizer.” The description reads: A token, representing fertilization of a plant, and the mound that I had made disappeared.
When I examine the place my cannabis crop was it reads in red:
Only in my recent builds has a red debug message appeared (another instance was when I use electronics modded with a UPS).
I don’t know what I am doing. Please help. I think that it might be possible that my seed came out 'cause it is too cold, but I don’t know if that is how the mechanics are supposed to work or if it is a bug.
Edit: cannabis seed was my on my auto pick-up. The same thing hasn’t happened with the wild veg stems, yet.
Another question I have, after reading the wiki, is what is the typical return for seeds? I’m afraid to use my pumpkin–glorious pumpkin–seeds if it won’t produce more seeds to use later on, also because I am not quite set up to preserve the pumpkin.
Is there any mutation or bionic or other option allowing for full color night vision? Getting very annoyed with the greyed out graphics during night raids.
So, I recently set up a smoking rack and a charcoal kiln using the construction menu and 40 rocks.
Let me tell you, I spent about 30 minutes gathering 2 kiln fulls of wood (Heavy sticks, then two by fours), lighting them up and getting 4000 charcoal EACH TIME.
Glad that charcoal using stations like smoking racks and charcoal forges are now a viable option, and I don’t have to dig a hole in the lab wall to have a generator for my electric forge.
Also I read a bit earlier about Zombie Slaves. I really did want to lash them to me like Michonne from TWD. However, the last time I checked they were generally, just, bad. Inept. Their general real use was to make them wear backpacks and have them as living packmules and they generally didn’t want to follow you around so it kinda just fell flat.
You want the High Night Vision, Full Night Vision or Fey Nightsight mutations. Nightvision goggles and the implanted nightvision bionic colors everything neon green during use.
This raises a whole host of ethical concerns we can probably just dismiss… But I laughed far harder then I should have.

Thanks for the tip. I’m using the default ChestHole tiles. Using the debug menu to add Full Night Vision, the tiles still appear grey at night. Is there anything I can do to make them still look colorful as if they were lit up using night vision?
perhaps zlave children in pet carriers should be extremely off-putting to NPC’s? I can’t see any “normal” people being totally okay with stacks of pet carriers containing zombie children slaves.

I am not sure if you can see inside the pet carrier. Also… many more things in the entire game should be off-putting to the NPC an PC, but it would require reworking morale and focus mechanic(so that you will not starve to death simply after not being able to cook just because you saw an eldritch abomination).
The game has had eperimentals put where extremely low morale has not stopped you from reading/cooking/crafting. It just drains you focus so you gain next to no XP and maybe makes it harder to do anything.
Having played drunk players since forever, I typically experience 2-4 bouts of withdrawal a game and then also some minor cases where I dont drink often enough for the games liking.
Seriously. An alcoholic character needs 1 drink every hour to stay out of the red. I time my reading around it. And crafting.
Is it possible to damaging the tool you use when craft something? I mean the tool that required and will automatically used to make an item like a tool that has level 2 hammering quality, level 2 tree cutting quality etc. since you’re not directly using them like when you use them as a weapon. I wonder since this never happened to me before.
