Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Will it go away on its own? I already lost both arms and am forced to not carry anything thanks to +600 pain…

Only two options, as it won’t go away by itself. Either cure the fungal infection, or finish your Marloss quest and join the Mycus. It’ll self-purge once you become one of them.

…I see…In that case, where do I find a marloss tree…

If you’ve already eaten a marloss berry, the tree is not what you seek.

You need the flower from the marloss blossoms, then last is the tower.

How on earth were people supposed to work out what to do for that quest without asking or consulting the wiki?

And where is that found?

Devs.

That’s why I posted a thread about it at one point. o3o

Ok. If I catch the Fungiis, is it because the immediate area is contaminated, or is there alatency period?

pedit: I was just curious. I tried real hard not to migrate over here.

If you get spore dusted, you can get fungus’d later on. Stading in fungal terrain or breathing in fungal haze can cause it, but the main cause is being too close to a fungal creature when it gives off spores. Being stared at by a floating eye can also cause it.

Also. That sig image. Fucking wasps. Sorry. ;w;

I hope one day that epipens are a thing. Allergies to certain posions sounds neat.

I mean we already have quite effective adrenal injectors, so its really just coding the disease. If I knew more I might do it, though Im not keen to play it.

I’d rather we be able to swat wasps if they become able to sting things. >w<

Aside from granola, pemmican’s really good, jerky works if you have reliable water purification… dehydrated and smoked meat isn’t a bad choice either but I usually leave that back at camp as a long-term reserve since they can be used in a lot of recipes. Sealed jars of soup are easy to make in large batches, reasonably easy to get the components for, and cover both hunger and thirst. Plus after you eat them you have a jar, which can be handy. MRE’s are okay, but I use them as more of a thing to stockpile in safehouses for when you’re exhausted with two broken arms and need to lay up and heal for a day or two, and aren’t worrying about moral. A lot of times I just leave camp with a pack full of junk food, a bunch of clean water, and something to hunt with. Chips and candy keep moral up, and empty plastic bags have zero volume and can be used when I get home for vacuum sealing any woodland critter parts I didn’t eat on the trail.

Thanks, I never bothered picking up all the meat jerky because it’s junk food, I like keeping my health value as high as possible. I’ll pick it up from now on I guess.

If I recall, jerky doesn’t have a healthiness modifer, so its only disadvantage is being dry.

Pork sticks are unhealthy though.

I generally try to live on renewable resources, just so I don’t get that problem.

Flour is renewable through several sources, doesn’t spoil, and is easily craftable into lots of things. Also, you can make hardtack with it, which is a VERY nutrition-dense food (possibly the most dense in the game?) and doesn’t spoil. Making flour tends to be a bit labor intensive, though.

Most people tend to gravitate towards meat products. Jerky is craftable at cooking three, doesn’t spoil, and uses only meat and and salt or salt water (go stand in a swamp = infinite salt water). I personally greatly prefer smoked meat, as it’s just a little harder (cooking 4) and doesn’t take THAT much more resources (if you’ve been making charcoal all along…), and it’s MUCH faster to craft (since you do three at a time). Also, it gives more nutrition per meat and doesn’t dehydrate you.

Pemmican is the high-end meat product, better at essentially everything that jerky or smoked meat (dense and enjoyable), but it does take tallow or lard, which can be hard to come by in large quantities.

If you’ve got a smoker (see my earlier note about making charcoal regularly) or a dehydrator and plenty of power (kitchen buddy with a good vehicle, for instance), you can dehydrate all kinds of stuff, which makes it pretty easy. All the fruits, all the veggies, etc.

Fore scouting I either take

dehydrated meat orn jerky if Ive been stocking up
ant eggs if Ive raided them
or a mix of toastems and whatever is going to spoil and pork sticks and otherwise unpackaged cardboard boxed goods that are filling. Cookies arent filling, but you can eat them without cooking them. Flour is not good, etc.

But toastems are my favorite food in the early game because of how much they increase your morale.

I’m trapped in a lab
I’m on the first floor from the surface after exploring extensively and can’t seem to be able to find the upstair out. I’ve searched the entire floor up and down, over and over without any luck in this regard at all and I’m close to starving. Can you guys give me any tips of this bs because I don’t want my character to go like this fam, though I’m pretty close to just letting him sink into the abyss of my mind and starting a new toon.
Is there anything that can help me out here? I’ll be sure to leave a note next time.

The finale might have explosives. They’ll perhaps blast through the walls or doors.

If you have the z-levels on you could start a fire topside and wait it out below. I forget if the outer walls are concrete on the ground floor.

CBMs might help? You should beging havesting any human meat you can if you havent already, and keep in mind that zombie meat will be edible as a very last resort.

Maybe laser weapons will do things?

pedit: butt-ah you knew what you signed up for when you agree to take the lab challenge. I didnt hear anything in the lore about forced testing or ‘volunteers’ so I can only assume your character also had it coming :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s not the issue, I can’t find the stairs out of the mine fam; I entered it from the outside. I’m on the first underground floor rn and can’t get back up
