Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Eventually you gotta put a dozen or so V8s in the middle along with a few tank treads and go all Enclave Mobile Base. Mostly I just really want to see a vehicle that requires window zoom to view all the security cam feeds–speaking of which, interior cams + turrets = maze of death controlled from center. Maybe with a water cannon ejector funnel for those who get to close.

That sounds hilariously insane.

How is the seed drill used? Seems like a car part, but it doesn’t seem to work on wheelbarrows.

That’s the thing though, if I plan on wiring everything back into my base via frames I have to either A) break a wall or two to make space for those frames, risking the roof crashing on my ass and making the base feel less like a “home”, not being sealed off from every side completely, or B) “tripping” over those frames because I don’t want the wiring to end at the back of the house, I’d want them to run to a bunch of different sources throughout the building. I don’t want that “moving through that foldable ight frame is slow!” log clutter, and also want the thing to look somewhat aesthetically pleasing.

I got a couple of jumper cables I looted from a garage. You can connect them to an outer tile on a vehicle and run them through 2 extra tiles before they snap; I was thinking of moving the generator a bit closer to my base, essentially adjacent to the wall, and running the jumper cable through the window so it connects to whatever I choose to build inside. Could that work? It’d look something like this:

- Solar panel

- Some vehicle setup I need to power

_ - Jumper cables (1)
’ - Window with jumper cables (2)

I think so. Not quite sure, but I think transferring via jumper cables is slower.

In any case, here’s my suggestion using frames without breaking walls.

Before image, where it looks like this:

Instead of using jumper cables, turn that vehicle rig and solar panels into one vehicle, connected by frames. No need to smash a wall. If the window can be open, as a frame can be built on an open window. If window can’t be opened, just smash it twice so there’s no broken glass.

It’ll look like this, then.

The uncolored # being the frame that connects the two together. No need to use jumper cables or swap storage batteries. You can even place steel plating on that empty frame and add a board to act as a sort of wall to prevent things from looking or entering your base.

I wasn’t aware of the ability to build frames inside an open window. This looks good, I’ll try to do it your way then.

How do you shape each and individual frame to your liking before/after placing it?
When you build a vehicle and place the very first frame, it asks you to choose a shape. When you do, every tile of frames that comes after that will be the same. I no longer get the shape-prompt, and every frame I build is shaped like a _. What do I need to do if I want to change it up to |? Rem(o)ving it and (i)nstalling it again doesn’t work.

Yup. Open windows are buildable. Not sure on broken windows, but a broken window where the remaining glass has been smashed away can also be built on with a frame.

Odd. That never happens to me. I don’t get a prompt on what shape of the frame when I start the vehicle construction. It’s always the H shape, but when adding in the other frames I can choose which one I want - and then I can remove the first frame and choose what frame shape I want.

Not sure on this, but maybe it’s due to the tilesets? I’ve been using ChestHole’s tileset for a long while now.

Sadly we don’t have manual versions yet, so it needs controls and power to work. ;w;

And yeah, initial construction always defaults to the H frame. That’s a fundamental thing regardless of whether you use Chesthole or even whether you use tiles at all. >____>

What’s the tool required for brewing?

edit: never mind, found the tool I need.

Are there things that could lit up an irregular area brightly even during the night and persist for two days? Or is it a bug?

EDIT: There is a fire engine south of the hotel parking and it seems to have its floodlights undamaged, can it be this?

What’s the odds of running into a hulk with monster evolution off? I have run into some brutes and shocker brutes but as of yet no hulks, which I’m not complaining about at all, but usually with the default monster evolution I’ve at least been bitch smacked by one at this point into my misadventures.

Well, I don’t know the numbers behind the spawning, but at 2 times monster spawns (static) and default evolution I’ve run into a good number of hulks. Day 24 and I’ve run into 5 or 6 I’d say. Maybe you’re luck is just good?

Also, in the experimental is there a key for toggling running or does the guy just always go top speed?

" toggles running. No middle ground when it comes to running, just normal walking and stamina-draining running.

When the old guard representitive says about the helicopter landing in the gas station, is it in a specific labeled gas station or do I have to search all gas stations?

I’m assuming they mean a certain city of the dead?

…If that’s what they mean then I won’t see for some time. The ranch missions come first at the moment.

Right. Good luck finding that. X3

Don’t forget to bring your badge with you. Pretty sure nothing happens if you don’t wear it.

I always wear all my badges!

I’m not using any tilesets, but I found the culprit: apparently foldable light frames can’t be adjusted, and the only way to place them down is in the _ shape. I haven’t found a way to unfold them either, so basically if you go for cheap materials and build the most basic type of frame (like those foldable light frames made out of pipes) you don’t get to decide and make the vehicle very appealing to the eye. This might be the case with wooden frames as well.

Using regular steel frames fixed the issue.
