Can anyone explain how to port over previous saved characters to new versions?

I know it’s already been asked but the solution now doesn’t work so how do you get rid of sidewalk so you can build on that tile?

I’m trying to fortify my Apartment block but I can’t with the sidewalk in the way. .___.
Build the first step of a Stone Wall on top of it(You only need like 40 rocks, easily obtained during the process of building a Dorf Fortress like I did). Then smash the Stone Wall. It produces a Dirt Tile.

Source: I used this to grow mushrooms underground, by the light of vortex generators.
Don’t have the construction skill for a Stone Wall yet but a rather resource heavy alternative was to build a window frame and then smash it.

If you mean saves, copy the save folder to the new version. If you mean templates, copy the templates folder.

So with computers/lighstrips/lanterns being nerfed regarding the light it gives, are there any ways to get permanent bright light conditions in the middle of the night save standing in front of a running car with it’s headlights on?

Put a generator rig with a flood light on it.

atomic lights still give good light

you can try turning shocker brutes into zlaves too

flood light and other car lights are good too

What arek said, most cars also have dome lights and if you can curtain them off or even just make a frame+lights+battery setup in a base you’re set.

I’m also ingactuated with lamp oil as a power source–the 800 charges on dat survivor mess kit are fabulous, and the ordinary lamp is also amazing. Much better than an electric mess kit if you’re not overflowing with batteries

I sleep inside a tank. It’s the obvious solution.

Otherwise a frame with a few solar panels outside and a couple of frame tiles inside your house with a floodlight and controls mounted on it works nicely.

What’s an offering chalice for?
I know it’s from the Arcana mod, but what does it do?

Used as a tool for some of the crafting recipes in Oaths to The Chalice, the related recipe book.

Also used to generate blood essence, by picking the “drink from the chalice” option, then using the resulting drained chalice in another recipe.

Wait, you CAN drink from it? It basically tells you not to do that. What happens?

Much like with the silver athame, it’s shmuck bait that you need to fall for to make use of its secondary function. o3o

“As you drink from the chalice, you feel your breath being drawn from your lungs!”

The best solution I know of (and it can be fairly easy, once you have high enough skills) is to place a turret - bam, permanent light.

Where can I get an electric forge?

I’ve never found one, that I recall - I’ve always just made them.

That said, mega-stores seem to be able to have almost anything - I’ve found a charcoal forge there once.

That’s what I mean, what book do I need to learn the recipe?
I’ve got an electronics skill of 6 (Put two points in electronics during character creation, and gained three levels from Advanced Circuit Theory) so skill shouldn’t be a problem.

If you gave it a custom name you can easily find its overmap coordinates by browsing the save files (i think the files that store the information are the ones that have names like 0.1.0)

Im guessing now the easyest way to get out of a lab is via finding a teleporter cause the turret in the lab entrance.

Pretty much, yeah. Dynamite SHOULD still work, though not 100% reliably, and anything less won’t do much good.

ok thanks, its easy to search for it with notepad++
