Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Farms are the most obvious place to look for them, there is a decent chance some “hops ryzhome” (sp?) will spawn there, amongst other seeds. Do NOT go after “hops flower” if you want to grow your own hops! Liquor stores can have the hops flower, but I’m not sure if they spawn the seed item as well. Other places to look would be the Gardening Stores (can be found in cities, uncommon, but not that rare) or in a variety of the common house that has a small backyard with crops and a seed storage. However, Hops seeds seem to be one of the more uncommon type of seed that can spawn, so it may take a few tries.

Well, for now I got some flowers and I have a couple of vats of mead brewing.

But I’ll have a look for gardening stores.

By the way, if I get my tank rolling into town, what’s the best way of getting it past all the car wrecks?

I mean I could install rams, rollers, scoops, etc, but what works well for moving crap out of the way without damaging my vehicle?

The crafted bullets are made from harder (junk)metal than the factory ones. So they penetrate better but don’t expand so well.

Well, that would make sense if you were making them of scrap metal. But actually the crafted bullets are made from lead, solder, gold, or silver. Which are all softer than the stuff proper bullets would be made of. Right?

In DDA crafted bullets should probably be acting like hollowpoints if anything.

I can craft lead for bullets from scrap metal, so it’s probably not the purest high quality metal. The dam/pen values ought to be the hyper-realistic way to express this realism I think.

Unrelated question…

How do jumper leads work?

I thought I could use them to transfer power but they don’t seem to be transferring it.

The plan was to make a “generator” and use leads to charge up my nearby tank since I can’t install engines on it to generate power.

Looks like I’m stuck transferring storage batteries?

Edit: Wait, even that isn’t working. Is there any way to determine which battery gets charged? Like, can I discharge the storage battery in my tank into the other batteries on the tank, remove it, and plug it into my charging generator while taking a charged one from that and putting it in the tank?

Doesn’t seem to be working that way so far.

Wait, my idiot character installed the wrong one I think. Trying again…

transfering power works, do not install any batteries on engie just connect it to vehicle with some power still left and run engine ALL power will go to target

But does it give it a single jolt or effectively connect the two as a system permanently? I’m not sure what’s going on once you activate those cables.

Regarding the handloaded bullets: It’s more that the damage values for all the regular rounds got updated (and based on real world data on bullet velocity and energy), but the handloaded ones didn’t get updated with them. Which makes them rather worthless IMO, since you’ve now got reloaded 9mm rounds hitting with less force than a standard .22 LR.

Oh derp. Well that explains it. Anyone remember what the earlier pattern was for handloads versus factory rounds? Someone should buff up handloads to return to that pattern now that ammo has been buffed.

Seems to only affect some bullets, too. The .45 handloads seem OK from what I remember.

A few questions:
What is a good mid game tier armor? I’m trying to get SWAT armor, which has a rating of 30 bash and 54 cut (I think), but in experimental (3685 version) it says it’s only 14 bash and 23 cut. Should I pursue a new armor, or update my game?
Is there a way to re position or teleport vehicles? I found a military cargo truck, and want to replace my luxury RV with it. I’m planning on removing the parts and transfering, but its really far away.

Yeah you can Here That way you can teleport your vehicle to where you need it.

Also go for the RM13 Armor. I find it in bank vaults and safes usually. It’s powered by plutonium, which isn’t that hard to get. I have over 300 units of it and have no shortage as far as the eye can see.

Make sure you repair that armour because it turns out it affects the armour value…

Also you can add kevlar plates to it if you get a tailor kit.

I know of no way to teleport vehicles. You could just use the cheat menu to spawn the parts you want from that vehicle instead, if you’re lazy…

Personally I have my tank sitting outside my ruined mansion as a kind of semi-immobile base structure while I charge up its MASSIVE banks of storage batteries.

In the meantime I built a 5 or so tile motorbike covered in cargo carriers that I’m driving around the city picking up vehicle parts.

A huge wtf at plutonium not being hard to get. I’ve never seen any and I’ve robbed about three banks and several security vans. I have lots of precious metals and diamonds but no plutonium. I could take apart an advanced UPS to get some, but otherwise…

If you want plutonium, go to labs and find their warehouse areas. Those crates have stacks of plutonium in them quite a lot of the time. Also i meant I find the armor in vaults and safes not the plutonium.

Ahh I see. That makes more sense, although so far I’ve just found “light power armour” in a safe. What exactly is the one that you mentioned? Does it count as power armour (i.e. stops you wearing other stuff) or is it different?

Unfortunately I’ve yet to find a lab.

RM13 Armor off
RM13 Armor on

It’s the lightest of the powered armors. Has full body coverage. 30 warmth. It protects you from radiation when on. has 30 storage. 20 encumberment off ,5 on.
and has more protection when on. Can be reinforced with a welder. Tailors kit kevlar plating can take it up to 50 cut, 20 something bash protect.
It’s a really nice armor.

Hmm. Can you wear anything else with it? I assume not. That’s what’s stopping me wearing my other power armour suits. I need to carry lots of stuff around.

Is it compatible with a hauling frame? Is there any way to use holsters and scabbards with power armour?

It’s a non rigid power armor. You can wear whatever you want with it. It is not compatible with the hauling frame, but is compatible with any other clothing item, just about

Power CBMs are VERY VERY VERY common - take those apart for plutonium.

Also, manhacks occasionally drop some - lock up the scientists until they’ve dropped all their manhacks, kill the manhacks…

And yes, labs tend to have a good bit of it.

Seriously, though, Power CBMs… I’ve got over 20,000 power on my current character, and I’ve still got lots of Power CBMs… shockers, shocker brutes, scientists, technicians, broken cyborgs, bio-operators… just the scientists in a decent-sized lab can give you 10-20 of them, easy.
