Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Far as I know, ninjutsu doesn’t affect throwing. As for the volume, I’ve yet to see any sign that item weight affects the noise. It’s fairly quiet, enough that you’re better off throwing the item at a window instead, as that seems to be louder. Firecrackers or a grenade work even better.

Now a question of my own. Last I checked, Pacifist and Pychopath are compatible. How royally broken is that combo?

Not really broken, the fact that Pacifist slows down your fighting skills is still annoying.

Hmm. I thought it had morale penalties?

What sort of noise do bow’s make?

I think bows make almost no noise, nearly silent, same with crossbows. Compared to background noise of wind and other things it’s almost not noticeable even IRL. Birds are chirping etc. The world is rarely ‘silent’.

For someone looking for weapons doing good damage to kill the Shoggoth. Wood axe/fire axe. They do 30+ base. With solid melee skills and a fair strength it’s not hard to hit for 50+, crit for more.

I always killed them with a bow anyways. Never had an issue with it.

Also I thought fire was the way to stop regen. Fight it over a burning tile.

how many arrows did you need? I have tried yesterday to fight Hulks and shocker brutes with a bow. They never got the chance to get close to me. Regular shockers die from 2-3 hits, while brutes require a bit more. The hulk i had to engage at about 12 tiles, missing some hits, but he eventually died at 1 tile distance from me. That’s with a fully modded reflex recurve bow loaded with fletched metal arrows with archery 6 and marksmanship 6.

The shocker brutes with their lightning strikes were a bit annoying, but didn’t really pose a serious threat. I guess i’ll risk fighting a shoggoth next time i encounter one, i always tried to avoid them.

What about other tough monsters like jabberwock and those nasty worms?

Sooo um. ignore my Shoggoth comment… on Bows. I think I got it confused with Jabberwock after having met another Shoggoth in the lab, I remember dying to it previously in the Lab. I did meet one another time and it didn’t go well.

Avoid it unless you got firepower. I was using the NX-17 whatever this time in the lab, that @ 5 UPS charges can blast through glass in AOE. 3 shots to the face (which melted a brute/crawler everything else in 1 blast + fire), and the Shoggoth got down to medium after 2 blasts then Regen kicked in and it was out healing the other ones. I left that area smoking and burning without opening any of the doors in the area.

The worms are not bad, the Jabberwock can be. Has good hp and is fast, but doesn’t regen like the Shoggoth, it just has good hp. 200+ if I remember right. You will need to shoot and move, I think it’s quick.

Is it worth chopping off my own arm for fusion blaster biionic? What are the drawbacks?

If I recall, it prevents wielding any weapon that counts as two-handed.

So, it limits you to small melee weapons and handguns only? I’m not sure if I want to become megaman now…

You lose the ability to use both arms. This means the following drawbacks:

Bigger Weapons which need 2 arms/hands are not equippable anymore (for example, all kinds of Rifles, machine-guns and so on.)
You can no longer use your arms to carry items above your max volume. You know when you’re at max volume and you can take 1 more item in your hands? This won’t be the case any longer.

On another note, don’t forget that the Fusion blaster has the following stats (Gun+ammo):
40 Damage
10 Range
1+4 Dispersion
reload time of 500 turns (aka 5 movements with a normal 100speed guy I believe.)

The main problem I always saw in the thing is that you practically loose your ability to snipe from long range, because all the long-range weapons are rifles, and damn, those are useful to kill stuff from a safe distance.

The right way to use this fusion blaster bionik is to build a makeshifth handheld fusionblaster from it .
Then modifie it so it draws from your bionik energy and wield it like a normal weapon.

I’ve never actually taken serums. I’m going to this time. I also got a few mutations before I could kill some scientists, not bad ones, but down the lines I don’t want.

If I use a purifier, it won’t remove any traits correct? Reading up some of the ‘trait like’ mutations are named the same. Are they flagged differently than besides the name?

I have 4 suits of power armor, 2 heavy power armor, and a light power armor… and NO BLOODY HELMET. (or hauling frame)

This is getting silly. Any ideas where to look for a helmet? Any place that is better than others?

Oh, and I second that comment about using the Fusion Blaster Arm CBM to make the fusion blaster rifle instead. 4 bionic energy a shot… get near a fungal bloom, and just hold down ‘f’ until the problems go away…

The helms for power armor are more rare than the armor. Found in similar places. I have one, it was laying out in a field by the school.

So look for soldier zombies, banks, Military bunkers etc.

Spider basements usually have the helmets and hauling frames. Sometimes. You generally have to wade through a lot of dead spiders and webs, since they’re usually on the floor.

Hmm. The elf formula doesn’t require pre-reading to tell it apart from the book it’s disguised as, does it?

Well, the text description of the elf-a book is slightly different, so probably best to read the non-elf standpipe to have an easier time finding the one that does.

As I figured. It would be interesting if pre-read descriptions could differ to obfuscate things further.

I found my Heavy Power Armor Helmet outside one of those house’s turned wasp nest. Also found a Hauling Frame on a soldier corpse at a Military Outpost once.
