Praise duct tape. We’d all be zombie chow without it.
You know, I collect and hoard it obsessively… but I’m not sure I’ve ever actually used it for anything except a bit of survivor gear.

That alone recommends it, but it’s also great for repairing vehicles (which lets you preserve batteries and acetylene torch charges for things that actually require them) and crafting things like bandages and first aid kits. I strongly recommend memorizing the superglue and duct tape recipes and holding them dear.

Other things to consider: some recipes that use plastic chunks or superglue will actually take duct tape instead, and use considerably less of it than you could make from a single superglue and plastic chunk. Time spent tearing rags up into threads is a factor, granted, but if you’re particularly tight on plastic or superglue, this can help stretch them further.

Don’t tear rags, disassemble strings or seatbelts.
And if you don’t have any at hand, disassemble wool, put it in the sewing kit, then unload it to get thread. It’s about 5 times faster.

I got a question. How come things such as chicken walkers ignore everything except the player? Surely whoever owns it didn’t program it to attack just 1 out of how ever many billion people in the world.

In Doom terms… there’s no monster infighting (yet).

Remember that guy (or gal) that you turned down when they asked you out in school? They became a programmer for military combat drones and they’re still sore at you.

Lol. Either that or you have an ID that was programmed to be eliminated on sight; maybe all CDDA characters created are actually secret mass murderers or deadly spies from other countries and we just don’t know it.

Alright, a question worth one million of artifacts: how do I into cats? They start running away as soon as I am 10 tiles near them.
I have cat food, and tried to drop it to the ground or activating it, but cats won’t come either way.

Cats are hard to get. Snort loads of meth and crack and run after them madly, or trap them in a pit and laugh evilly where you can make them your friend whether they like it or not. Then use the cat food on the cat.

So I just outfitted my vehicle with a recharging station and placed some tools with the rechargeable mod in that compartment, but it the tools don’t get charged. The batteries of the vehicle are around 70% if I remember correctly and I made sure to turn the recharger on. Am I missing something or is it just broken in the latest experimental build?

You are 100% right and this has dramatically raised my game. Thank you kind sir.

ive been wondering, what does memorizing recipes actually do?

Basically recipes you haven’t memorized can only be crafted and are only visible when the book containing the recipe is in your vicinity.(like crafting materials and tools in terms of range)

I’m working on it and getting good results. Already got AI to acknowledge NPCs correctly, properly check vision when fighting non-players and other similar things.
Also allowed zombies to target non-players with spit, lightning, smash and zapback.

Changes are not in yet. Here’s the PR: Non-player creature fighting overhaul by Coolthulhu · Pull Request #10693 · CleverRaven/Cataclysm-DDA · GitHub
They’re fun to test, though. Spawning a group of friendly hulks vs a group of hostile hulks and watching them fly.

Do I need insect serums to get post-threshold insect mutations? Or will insect mutagen work?

serums only

serums only
Mutagen will work to get the post-threshold mutations, but it won’t work to get you your threshold in the first place I thought.

Serums to breach, and once you’re FREE!! orals will bring the post-thresh. Taikei no Yuurei is correct.

How do you dissassemble stuff on the ground?

“B” for Butcher usually works. Depending on what you’re tearing apart(robots mainly) you may need different/extra tools than jus a cutting item.
