Try sleeping underground when you can, it tends to go faster

I have seen this as well. My computer is quite weak, and every time my char sleeps I have time for an IRL bathroom break, not even rushed. Once when my char slept for 12 hours (ish), it took upwards of ten minutes.

Do autosaves trigger during sleep?

I think it’s more about all the simulations involved, not autosaves.
Autosaves can be slow, but they generally take amount of time proportional to number of updated items, tiles and creatures. When you sleep, you sit in one spot that’s probably mostly devoid of creatures.
Sleeping underground helps by also skipping weather checks and a great number of item checks (basements are mostly empty). Not sure about how expensive FOV checks are, but darkness and tight spaces probably help with those too.

Critter checks, too. No wondering about whether the cougar and zoose smell you two hours in, etc.

The scent updating code actually turns itself off after a few minutes of you not moving, we can probably look into some similar things for other expensive operations, like calculating FOV. The fundamental problem is it’s running through thousands of turns, it still does most of the stuff that would be spread across hours of gameplay.

Remember the next time a bridge is blocked by discarded vehicles–they can drive in reverse just fine as long as they have wheels.

Have you updated recently? I thought I fixed that a while ago.

Still a thing as of version f33d898

I just realized electromagnetic unit CBM has no weight limit. And that recently added 700 kg rollers are made of iron.

Zombies hit by flying rollers don’t even leave corpses, not even pulped ones. Not even hulks do.It also wrecks solid rock.

Does the explored marker feature work for older saves?

I started seeing dramatic increases in turntime after smashable walls were introduced, something there is probably decreasing performance.
I’m not saying it’s that particular feature that slowed it down but it happened around that time.
I also don’t like that the game is stuck after you sleep.

Thanks for the explanation. I’d just been wondering if that behaviour is ok.

everyone talk about this control laptop but where i can find recipe for it? i have 11 in electronic skill (power storage mk II cbm is 12 hard so is still gain experience)

It’s in a book called something like “Robotics for Fun and Profit” that you can find in a library.

Thanks so much again

Its also in the lab journal about electronics, I can’t recall the name, but its something along the lines of Méndez or Hernández.

Herrera.

so i do not have enought skills (i have lab journal)
