Tips, Tricks and Newb Questions: Reborn!

i will have to disassemble then, never got the recipe, although what i want more is the craft buddy

Does anyone know how to lure monsters up and down stairs with Experimental Z-Levels on? A lot of the things dwelling in basements are too dangerous to fight early game, so my main strategy for getting at the stuff inside was to lure them up and away then come back to the basement, but I can’t get them to cross Z-Levels anymore.

thats really weird, if you dont have z-levels on, they just need to lock on you and be around like 7 or so tiles from the stairs and the follow you, and i remember people complaining that if you had z-levels on everything locked on you and you had hordes from all the levels encroaching you :s

I’ve never had a problem luring them out with Experimental Z-Levels off; there are even messages about how close they are. Experimental Z-Levels is on by default in the latest experimentals though, and I’m just too lazy to turn it off if it’s not necessary to do so.

Have you tried making some noise? Last time I had Z-levels turned on I couldn’t pickaxe through the back wall at a research lab because zombie kept coming down the stairs to interupt me.

what tools have seperation 2 and how to get them ? i plan on going medic

Haven’t played in a few months, got 9744 a little while ago. Only tileset that I have ever used, and have ever seen people post pictures with, seems to be gone. What is going on? Is there some option I am missing?

how can ammo be made to not decrease?, i know there was a mod that did that with an “smart arrow” and i want to make a boomerang, but the way to make it evades me.

Basically be lucky and find a research facility and search for the items that have those qualities

Thanks, I had actually found that link and was reading through about the copyright stuff when you replied, thanks for being more on the ball then I was.

On the item browser is there a section to checkout only vehicle parts?

i think its a “wrench”? you mean fine bolt turning right?

im using the salvaged robot mod, but for some reason i can seem to get the recipe for the craftbuddy even when it is said is auto learned after getting the relevant skills, its intended or is a bug?, same with other robot recipes

So, I found my first lab in my first run after a long pause. Used an elevator to descend, immediately accosted by about two dozen zombie scientists, followed by a kevlar hulk. Managed to bring it down to low health in melee, went back up to heal, then came back down to finish him off with a machinegun.

Figured I’m done with tough dudes for now, but then I ran into a skeletal juggernaut. So my question is - is this the new norm for labs or is it a special lab of some kind?

Also, is there a way to open metal doors in the lab without resorting to acetylene torch?

Also also, if elevator controls get wrecked, how do you get out of the lab?

from what i have seen, there are 2 kinds of different labs one is a lab and the other other one is a science lab (which is similar to the ones from before). this is not including the labs from house basements

Okay, new player (1 week, many deaths) here.
Currently playing as Cyberjunkie with 7 faulty modules and 3 good ones: Sensory dulling, Climate Control, and Metabolic Interchange.
The last one is giving me more troubles than all 7 faulty ones combined, because it seems I cannot turn this goddamned thing off! Googling said it turns off automatically when my char reaches “very hungry” state, which is, well, not the best state to end in.
So, question 1: Any way to turn it off for good without actually uninstalling it (and/or all faulty ones, which will definitely lead to my death at current skill levels)?
Q 2: Any better way to deal with shockers except hitting them at (long)range during night raids?
Q 3: Best way of levelling fabrication up from 2 without any books?
Q 4: I got 101 Wrestling moves and Ninjutsu manual. NM says I should have some understanding of unarmed to learn it efficiently. What is the best(time-wise) strategy of levelling unarmed + Ninjutsu? i.e. to which level should i raise unarmed by reading 101WM before reading NM? e: I only need Ninjutsu really(for its melee bonus).
Q 5. Does bypassing vehicle security generates noise? Asking because I saw a deathmobile near a group of zeds so I think of getting it under the fog of darkness but not sure if they will hear me or not. They will definitely neither see nor smell me because vehicle is closed and quite far from them. The only thing that can make them come to me is noise.
Q 6: Another char, got the mission to find weather log from an NPC. IIRC she said it should be in the local library. There’s only one town on the map, only one library in it, and there’s no weather log in there. Mission only says “find weather log” without explaining where I could actually find it. So, is it random library hunt then or should I have read what she actually told me while giving me the mission?
Q 7: Do eyebots dream of electric feet?

  1. Press p, then press the right button that corresponds to the part to turn it off.
  2. Wooden weapons, also spears, also the shock isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. If it’s mano a mano you could just charge it. Just make sure you have a weapon that doesn’t conduct and has a high block. Electricity blocking clothing helps too.
  3. Craft a bunch of crap. Sorry, that’s just how it is. Gather lotsa materials. Progression is bone/wood -> scrap metal -> forged metal, at least in my plays.
  4. Rat wrestling, naked. Helps me level both dodge and unarmed. Craft punch-based weapons if you want to level unarmed in a non-training montage fashion.
  5. Only if you fail, which might set off the alarm. Takes quite a while though, at which point a zed could’ve easily wandered over. If the sec system is damaged enough and the other more important parts not I just smash at the tile with the part until it breaks off. Usually gets me a car faster than unskilled hotwiring.
  6. Missions usually give markers but I’ve found them untrustworthy for scavenger hunt types. Raid suspect places until you get it.
  7. ?
  1. Well, I should’ve probably posted it before, but MI CBM is always shown in blue color like other useful CBMs when they are ON, which I guess means it is ON, even if it says it is OFF in its description. idk what it does actually mean but then again if I was to believe search engines it means it actually is burning my food to power all those 7 useless CMBs. Is it just a UI glitch?
  2. Interesting. My searches said only weapon material means anything, and clothing is ignored entirely. Are you sure electro-res clothing actually do something? If yes, how to discern it? Enviro resist stat? Because there is no electro resist stat on items, or at least I haven’t found one with it yet. Even rubber gloves don’t have it.
  3. …okay. At least I won’t waste time trying something stupid )
  4. Reading it is, then :grimacing:
  5. Thanks. Next target: gas station, a.k.a. the only source of diesel for my precious panzerwaffe…
  6. random library hunt it is, then.
  7. Look at T-3 and T-2 second marks, then compare it to eyebot wiki/trunk description

How long does it take for cows to be milked again? If depends on how long the season length is I have it on the default 91 days.

you can break metal doors with a 50 cal althou its quite luck based it can take 1 bullet or 10 but you can do it also you can break reinforced glass with a sledgehammer (not sure if there is a strength requirement as i always dump everything into strength and dex) just make sure its not ballistic glass sledgehammer aint got nothing on that

I find waiting 24 hours is usually enough for a cow to fully refill its udder. You can milk it earlier than that, but you will get less milk.
