I haven’t encountered one yet. Are they hostile? If not, then that’s about as friendly as they’re likely to get. Whatever AI they have is probably thoroughly freaked out at the number of rioters and shoplifters they’ve had, with no manager to tell them how to handle it. Imagine a god-mocking cross between Kryten of White Dwarf and this guy.
Not hostile.
Yet when I (e)xamine one it says " Sadly you are currently not able to extend your friendship".
Has the Isherwood clay fetch quest been made much harder by some development since it was created?
The quest is to collect 1000 units of clay, but ½ hour of digging clay yields 11-12 clumps, so assuming a clump is one unit (which may not be the case), it would take almost 50 hours of continuing harvesting, which seems excessive.
Just find giant moles cave or something.
Plenty of clay left behind in the tunnels they dig.
is there a practical reason why a wind mill can’t mill corn?
also, do farm plants rot while they are not harvested?
I believe corn should need to go through an additional stage to dry it before milling it, although that could be hand waved away (there was a brief discussion about this a number of months ago, in some thread).
I’ve yet to see anything rot in the fields. However, I do believe they have to be harvested in a timely manner, which ought to be either the end of the season or before frost sets in (my current character is still in summer, so I haven’t had a season change affecting farmed fields yet).
However, my question about what happens to unharvested fields over winter hasn’t been answered by anyone…
Until I downloaded the launcher, I honestly never managed to play a single game until fall became winter. Usually one of the updates renders my save unusable and I have to start over from square one again.
well, oatmeal seems to also use a heat source, but it goes into the windmill no problem.
Is there a simple way to change what can and can’t go in the windmill? Like a json somewhere? Or does it need a code correction?
My attempts to find some JSON connection failed, which doesn’t mean there isn’t one, of course.
I don’t know how the passive (i.e. working in the background) furniture and vehicle parts work, but they sure are handy. The mills themselves seem to switch between being the passive version of the item and the active version of it.
is there a way to know where to mine for specific minerals? Like is there a depth requirement or some signifier that you can get sulfur or niter or whatever, if you dig here?
I don’t think sulfur is even on the list of minerals you can mine for.
That being said, giant naked mole rats nests tend to give you a fairly exhaustive representation of what can be mined out.
okay, where do I find those? Are they in vanilla game?
Practically any cave can (turn out to be) a mole rat nest.
Just don’t kill them. Let them dig.
What is the optimal calories intake for an active character? Every time I get a prompt that says i need to eat more calorie dense food.
Does toxins and vitamins have any effects?
What armors/clothing to wear on summer that does not make you very hot while still giving good protection?
It varies with activity level. You’d basically cram in as much as you can while there are complaints about lack of calories, try to maintain the level while there are no complaints, and stop eating when overweight (i.e. until you get back to normal weight, at which time you’ll also get Very Hungry.
To stuff yourself as much as possible, eat until satisfied, then one or two portions more (trying to avoid Full). Don’t wait to eat until you’re struck with Very Hungry, but top up every time you’re no longer Satisfied.
Using this strategy I’ve actually managed to go from losing weight to just having reached Overweight on just a diet of fresh corn (plus two doses of milk every morning).
I believe vitamins have been disabled completely (they previously resulted in conditions that were described, but that didn’t actually have any impact at all, such as getting bad eyesight or brittle bones). However, there’s the hidden Health stat that affects your risk of getting sick, and I don’t know if vitamins still affect it, but doubt it does.
Toxins build up until you get sick (and decay over time), but I don’t think they have any effect until you actually get sick from them (several different levels, I believe), although they may affect the Health stat as well.
Armor: There aren’t any, even walking around naked will get you warm (but not Very Hot!, where you suffer stat penalties on top of the morale ones)… Anything that provides any kind of protection heats you up (as does carried stuff, such as backpacks…). You basically have to strip whenever you’re not fighting, and retreat to cool off periodically otherwise (basements and vehicles work. Basements have a low temperature [5 degrees Celsius?], and vehicles have a magic air conditioning that keeps the inside at a comfortable temperature regardless of clothing worn (there are plans to nerf that aircon to only work while the engine is running, in which case there’s a need for an aircon vehicle part [the current one affects the surroundings, not the inside of the vehicle]).
Apart from that, it’s colder during the night and early morning, with night carrying its own set of advantages and (very significant) disadvantages. There’s also a CBM that allows you to regulate your body temperature to some extent (although it may have been ripped away from experimental: it’s present in 0.F stable).
Recently picked the game back up and loving the new vertical structures. Are z levels/ceilings still as fragile as they were a few years ago though?
I camped out in a 2nd floor apartment and there’s currently a antlered hammer playing on the first floor and I am not sure if it’s safe to wait out or if it’s likely to bring down the whole building.
when I got trapped on a roof with a skeletal juggernaught downstairs I just had to bite the bullet and jump, luckily my pack was empty so it wasnt too bad but if youre overloaded then it probably wont go well.
if you remember if there is a side without windows I would advise jumping off there, not sure if it has any effect but jumping into rubble doesnt sound as appealing as grass.
Given that walking on rubble is dangerous, jumping onto it should be doubly dangerous. However, I don’t think glass shards have any effect unless you’ve specifically made them into a trap, but if you get down where there are no windows, the monster will have to go through the wall rather than the easier window, buying you some time in which to hobble away.
Also, don’t forget that zombies are STUPID, so they’ll try to smash through cars rather than walk around them, which can keep them occupied for long enough for you to disappear out of detection range.
are there subway trains that can move? Can a vehicle utilize the subway tracks?
Yes, you can find train cars in the subway that are drivable.
