So dodging is bad now?

Yes, you are right. At normal levels dodge was ok, but after some time in the game (like some months or so) you could become very strong, in a way that it pretty much have taken most of the fun and difficulty of the game, eventually rendering it boring.

(I say that because is very probably that you would fight a ton of monster in melee, and your wanting or not, training the dodge skill to high levels, thus leading to this situation).

Ah, that’s why. I don’t exploit dodge training on rats or such. I play with slower skill gain of 3 times slower with character with slow learning and slower skill rust int. But I save scum to make the game less stressful for more of the long play experience. I’m bored of restarting because I got lazy and auto walked into an enemy while safe mode was triggered off, or a group of dreadnought dinos pops out of the water. I also play with Secronom zombies and other hard mods like CDDA++. Oh and roaming spawns on too.

Haha yeah, CDDA tend to put us in this kind of situation, when we disable the safe mode after the 30th safety warn prompt.
