Why not make it so you turn your j-hammer on and then walk into a wall to drill?
To avoid having to mindlessly spam “a,j,up,up,a,j,up,up”. Even if I wield it it’s still “A, up, up, A, up, up”. I want to hold “up” and watch my character drill a tunnel to the north.

wield it, shift+a to activate what you’re wielding
cheers, problem solved
you can also rebind it to something else to avoid holding the shift button…
If I remember correctly you can wield a jackhammer and by pressing “A” use it. “A” uses an item in your hand… I may mix it up with another roguelike so if I am wrong then sorry.
Yes, I covered that in my post.
I still need to alternate two keys and press them 1000 times over if I want to drill out a long tunnel.
If my suggestion were to be implemented, you could activate your jackhammer and than just hold down the button for a while.
So like to help clarify, the ability to hit (a)ctivate, select jackhammer, then jackhammer is in the active or on state.
Then each move counts down the fuel but moving into the wall tears it down.
So (a)ctivate, move in direction of your choice, and tear down every wall or stone tile in your way till out of fuel or the jackhammer is turned off.
Yes, that’s what I’m proposing.
Thanks.
