Infinite negative points for new character?!

This is the first time I try this game so it could be that I’m missing something. It seems I can add as many traits and skills to my character as I want it just goes into the negative. Is this normal? How many sill point am I suppose to have.

And a small question on the side. I’ve created a new gfx directory in the cataclysm folder and copied the Waldo tile set there. It doesn’t seem to load it. Do I need to do something else as well?

The Negative Points thing just stops you from making the character.

for me the points don’t go negative they just go to 0 then start going back up infinitely even when you are spending them.
