Just to sum it up, they are way too damn loud, with their fireballs just deafening you from literally off screen. i do think that the sound needs to be reduced on that.

sound is hardcoded. Its being reworked right now, actually. So when that happens we can reexamine that.

But theres not a whole lot to do about it right now, except ironically, make it more accurate and deadly to reduce the noise.

It would be pretty easy to add noise field to explosion structure. It should be just ~3 lines: in explosion.h and explosion.cpp.
To retain compatibility, it should be set to -1 by default and old noise generation should be used when it is below 0.
