How do you cut down those tree trunks for planks and stuff?

I have a wood axe and a toolbox, what do I do about it exactly? All I wanna do is get more planks! :sob:

Press Shift + 8 or ā€œ*ā€.
Select ā€œChop Tree Trunk into Planksā€.

Btw, ā€œchop down a treeā€ is gone from construction menu, you have to activate axe now.
