Experimental version's UI ugliness and flaws

Hello. I want to ask about drastic changes that took place inbetween 0.G version and more-less recent experimental versions. And ask about possibility to revert these changes at least in settings or via modding.

Here is an example of font and menu windows in 0.G version:

Classic font and everything works fine.

But in experimental build 2024-11-03-2221 when you try to sleep you see this (attention to the upper part of screen):

This overlapping [t…] annoys and prevents from seeing the sign. Also the same issue exists with crafting/resting/etc.

Also possibly due to font changes item descriptions can no longer fit in the windows:

I do realise, that experimental version is supposed to be a little bit buggy. However, I dont think this blue outline of windows and font change is caused by bugs, it is obviously intentional change. I’ve tried looking through options, but couldnt find any that would allow me to turn this annoying outline off and return me my old good font :frowning: .

So I am here asking for advice:

  1. Is it possible to return old font somehow?
  2. Is it possible to disable this blue outline of menu window?
  3. Is this [t…] overlap intentional?
  1. You’ll need to adjust the fonts.json in the config folder to point to the old Terminus font (or any other font you want to add, I guess), should read like

(typeface option): [ “data/font/Terminus.ttf”, “data/font/unifont.ttf” ],

  1. Not that I’m aware of, this is just a current artifact of some UI Migration work. Maybe it’ll stay that way, maybe it’ll go away, none of the contributors so far have worried much about it as far as I can tell.
  2. No. Things are work in progress. You’ll likely continue to see other UI issues for a while as font and text and the migration as a whole progress and break things.
