Ok… So I got a tablet (It belongs to my mother and she’s had it for a while, so I just asked to borrow it)
I honestly don’t know if it’s worth learning over what I can already do with a mouse.

I did a thing of Foxy with the tablet, and I don’t see much of a difference. (other than the shadowing and extra detail I decided to add as well.)
(This tablet takes up the entire top section of the desk, because the desk isn’t that big. good thing I know the layout of the keyboard after I get typing, because I can’t see it underneath the desk.)
Your hand isn’t calibrated to working with a tablet yet. Yes, calibrated. Use the tablet in place of a mouse for a while until you get a spatial feel for how its size translates to the desktop. All things considered, the fact you didn’t experience a quality drop the first time drawing with it is a surprise to me. Keep going. Trust me. S’gonna be great.
One of the biggest advantages over mouse drawing versus tablet (assuming equal familiarity with both tools) is speed.
I use a trackball mouse, where I thumb the trackball. I hate it for anything involving precision. That being said. I don’t ever get cramps with it. Except when I try to be precise.
My webcam is currently experiencing Linuxitis. So I guess you’ll see it as seen from my phone :H

Actually, I had a pretty good grasp on how it acted in relation to the screen by hour 2.5 of my second drawing I posted.
I’ll continue to work on my skills with the tablet when I get inspiration for the next piece.
I don’t care, your scarf has colors that make me jealous. Be proud of your colorful scarf, as it will be with you all through life. Even during summer.
Haha yeah, extended art sessions work too. While I intended to learn how to ‘steer’ my tablet like I’d suggested earlier, I actually refined my motor skills completing a very late art trade.
Nothing like a hard deadline to motivate the shit out of yourself and risk carpal tunnel. Whoops.

I’ve gotten plenty of minor cases of Carpal tunnel just from writing in school. :C
