In the apocalypse people can make diesel that fuels truck and tank.
Producing bio diesel looks promising but is rarely talked about, if it has ever been done. The process turns out to be very complicated as I take a closer look at the recipe. It involves brewing alcohol, extracting oil from seed, a bit of lye powder, and the farming to get the ingredient. As difficult as making rock nut oil soap in dwarf fortress.
So I plan to build a bio diesel plant surrounded by canola and blueberry field.

The only issue with that is unless you have a mod that has another recipe for lye powder you may eventually be out of luck as unfortunately trees do not grow back so unless you have wander spawns on which would lead to you occasionally getting visits from zombies which = tainted bones which = more charcoal you would either have to be huffing wood from quite a ways away or something else. But to be fair this issue would probably only become relevant in the really really long run.
4 blueberries > 42 fruit wine must > 42 fruit wine > 14 brandy > 250 denatured alcohol. 96 blueberries are needed. If it is farmed, a 4x6 plot is sufficient.
50 charcoal > 200 lye powder. 120 charcoal is negligible.
4 canola seeds > 2 cooking oil. 960 canola seeds are needed. A 10x12 plot should be sufficient.
The biggest time sink is growing canola, which requires 2 generations to reach this scale.
The main difference between canola and cotton is that while cotton if more effective for cooking oil production and can also be used to make thread and rags however you have to find cotton whereas you can just forage canola.
