Z-levels - organizing work

Just to say Coolthulhu you are awesome :).

I have a question

There was a thread on this some where but cant find it.

When Z levels are in would this allow us to say build a small vehicle and drive it onto the back of say a flat bed truck?.

So a small scout vehicle for town scouting then say a large mobile home that allows us to drive the small scout vehicle onto the back of the mobile home and then strap it down :slight_smile:

No, that will require something totally different. Something I wonā€™t probably wonā€™t implement, but itā€™s recurring request so someone else might pick it up.

Some later z-level update may require making vehicle roofs provide support to stuff above it (walking on it, keeping items from falling through it etc.). If that happens, I might add the ability to store entire vehicles there and - possibly some sort of attachment to keep it from falling off.

There are 5 pages and I donā€™t want to read them all, no-one else (as far as I know,) has done significant work here.

I was sitting here thinking about the Z levels and wondered if this would allow Z levels in the terrain as well

I.E

Mountains,hills etc etc or will the terrain remain flat so to speak and Z levels will effect buildings only etc?.

Thereā€™s a mapgen issue at the end of Z-level development:

It doesnā€™t explicitly cover hills, but hills would probably be the easiest way to prove it works.

Buildings will have to be written for someone else, but once the hills are possible, it should be easy.

I canā€™t guarantee Iā€™ll be the one implementing the mapgen change, but Iā€™ll probably do it if no one grabs it before all other parts of z-level development are done.
