What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

At this point I only have one that runs on batteries - a Chain Lightning turret. The rest are out of ammo. What I’m doing right now is replacing, reloading, and repairing my turrets. Also, I’m going to stick several more battery-powered turrets on.

ah. good stuff. Good luck.

So this is how I spend my winter… Sitting in my nice warm car while snow falls outside, making steel rails all day, working at night by the light of an atomic nightlight, listening to the poufing of fungaloids. The only thing that could make this better is hot cocoa, but I can’t drink that any more.

I ran out of loose metal, so I had to dig into my hard plating stock to finish all 800 rails. I have so much hard plating that one cargo carrier is completely full of it - it probably looks like one massive block of metal sitting in the middle of the car.

Am I the only one who gets infected by dermatiks on purpose just to have a few friendly larvae to keep me company at my lmoe shelter?

not messed with dermatiks. What do they come from, what do they do?

swamp-wasps that can lay eggs in you if they pierce your skin with a special attack. they cause itching and make babies come out of you.

… interesting. Why would one intentionally do this? Is there any noticeable bonuses?

… I thought maybe they did something useful :frowning:

They have a 33% chance of being explcitly ‘player’ faction. i.e. friendlies. They have no value as a pet or attacker.

Well, they are mascots of sorts. i dont remember f they ever grow up.

pedit:

[[“DERMATIK_GROWTH”, 14400]],

They do. In like a season.

tbf im not clear how long ‘1’ unit of time is. 3 is every turn, and 6 or 7 is almost-every turn.

3 is the number people use for constant attack (such a the grappler-drag) and 1 is used to prevent moving at all (like a queen egg laying)

I would assume something like:
14400 minutes
or 14 day 40 hour 00 min (obviously this one doesn’t make sense)

how much time is considered one turn? I forget. Should be figure-able with that information

LONG time no post. I recently tried out a sheltered start with a militia character. It errored 9 times because it couldn’t find a suitable spot for the LMOE shelter spawn, but it did eventually. However, underneath the stairs was a ant colony so I had to leave and find a town, which I did.

Currently trying to find out why when I shoot my M1 Garand and get attacked when trying to precisely shoot my ‘view’ moves off to the side and I can’t see my character, just the edge of a reality bubble with my character stuck way on the right.

Well, i fixed the issue, just save and replay and that fixed that, it’s not permanent but whatever.

Day 10. Rather 0211 on the morning of the 10th day.

I have a military humvee with one of its tanks teatering on the brink of leaking. Its yellow, but its a humvee. I have found a large city via a meandering path south and east then north and all said and done the displacement is only somewhat north and very west. I think I cleared a whole overmap section at least. Through bayous and swamps and fields and a prominent river or three. The city has a fungal tower camped a very short distance from it. An ant colony is north of it, as is a satelite suburbs. To the east more is swampland and a school I looted. There are funguses over there, and again Im left with the question of how much range is too much.

I got my hands on several medium level books, including the ones to make the welder I so desperately need. Ive read up to lvl 3 mech and elec, and I went on an all-night attritious hunt for either a power converter or a soldering iron. found the iron not on the corpses of the zombies as they fought the ants, but in a bedroom.

The nght took a toll on the humvee. Ive been babying it because of its yellow engine and red controls and yellow tank, and since the night came I lost a headlight, a back board, and a door. Im camped up in an evac shelter just north of the town.

So making ants hostile to Zeds seems like the right move. Ants are aggressive to begin with, and even moreso when large groups of similarly sized things take all their resources. I dont expect to ants to let Zoms camp outside their mound. The soldiers especially. Self defense.
On the flipside, Zombies would see ants as an annoyance, and would fight back in self-defense. There is currently no ‘self-defense’ option in the game, so I used moods. Guess who’s always pissed? Zmen.

So ants and zeds would share an uneasy deference to each other at best. And thats before taking into account the Zeds interest in murderizing the nether wildlife. Why again is earth wildlife any better?

So no. I dont agree with the decision to make them neutral, and I dont like thei full on hostility either. And ‘moods’ is a joke when zombies are involved and the soldiers are always hunting.

NEwho, gonna make me the welder rig. Gonna fix up the humvee, then sober up

Apparently the pizza parlor I raided had a secret menu for the discerning dinner. And before the apocalypse hit and everyone evaced they must have been cooking for a party. Of the Donner variety. Four pizzas topped with people just sitting on the counter. Not sure if this can happen if your character isn’t a cannibal.

Day 26.

Dont let that fool you. I wasnt actually “playing” so much as craftng my car.

The Ferryman, a 10x6 monstrosity. As of right now it is more or less fully kitted. After sobering up, I began scavanging and repairing all the damage I took waiting out the withdrawls. It was an awful time, harassed by zombies, in particular the shocker brute, who I buffed up to standard brute levels. Its a bit more dangerous as a result. Actually, it was a match for me 1v1, though my armor was damaged up a bit.

Im looking for a choice shop to loot now, as it turns out that a lot of this large city is suburban crap. Damn hipster town and all the coffee teashops.

Spring, day 30.

I made that house on the edge of western town my next base. Spent a few days going back to the original shelter via the forest shortcut to cook. After a close encounter with a bear, which walked very close to my fire pit, I said sod it and instead dug a fire pit next to the base (having gotten rid of a straggler Z and a rabid dog).

There’s another town within walking distance to the west, with a shelter roughly midway.

Since I last posted, I killed my first moose. Nearly walked into it at night.

And now my alter ego found an electric car in working condition (it only needed one tire change). Slowly driving it back to the base (or at least out of that further west town). A wreck nearby had a minireactor in light green, so I nabbed it too.

Still missing a hammer and a welder, though.

hammer is easy enough. Smash a locker, or grab some scrap metal somewhere and a stick and thread/long string, or a rock instead of metal.

That gives a tool with hammering 2. There are some recipes that require hammering 3 (but not a whole lot).

true. and fine hammering.
