The game decided the best way to be a dick was to spawn a feral running inside the electronics store 1 turn after I turned off the flashlight. All zero of my combat skills got me killed.
Spawning like that is why people hate the dynamic spanwings.

Who would even dare unload a teleporter when they’re one of the few pretty-much irreplaceable tools in the game? Only a compacted L.A.W. is more terrible to squander. ;w;

Unless you get an artifact that teleports on use and can be recharged, or craft a scroll of discord in Arcana mod.

They used to be able to - I died that way once. When I reported it, the devs said they would fix it, and think they made pretty good time on it. Pretty nice of them.
I havent actually felt like I was ‘surviving’ in this game for a while. But I do now. Its a feeling of minor indignation. Ewww. It feels like weak.
So I got a car, got out of the city with some batteries, a wrench, a bat, etcetc. The car got mobbed by a megastore herd, and I had to swap it, after settling for some really crap loot in scarce places. Ive been on the road since then looking for diesel or a better working vehicle than a car. I personally have come to prefer humvees, armored car, and SUVs, in that order. Non of those, but plenty of zambies. Ive been using fire to augment the bat, and I have a sling but I cant even utilitze it fully since there a huge hole in the sides of my cars.
I finally got a working car with integrity, and then a moose come plowing through it because I had used fire. Arsehole. He literally removed the right side of the engine block.
Now wolves, who I agressed up, are needing to be run over regularly while I read. I leave the car on when they come sniffing by. If they wander too close I move 3 tiles foreward, and they die. The car battery just crapped out, so I cant turn the car off now, and I found out that theres a giant river blocking my path south, so my options are ‘go west’ or ‘go back to the vault city’. Neither sounds great, I need a new weapon, I need welding goggles, I need a new car; I need more meds.
ugh. So much scarcity.
I am holding out in “my” mansion just outside of the town I spawned next to. Came with a mace, 2 awlpikes and 2(!) suits of ornamental armor that fit me. I’ve been leaving the armor at home but once I get my skills trained up I will start wearing it out on the town. If I can find a horse and learn to #jump I’ll be ready to go dungeon diving for that damned amulet.
So far its been going well, been making night raids into town and gathering up what I can. No gun stores but 2 basement armories and a working VW Beetle stashed in someone’s garage. Getting the car back to base without drawing a crowd was a little antsy but I pulled it off without any hordes busting the door down. There is a Megastore a couple miles out from town that has been calling my name but I am going to wait until I pick everything else dry before I tackle that. I don’t “need” anything right now and I’m doing too well to take those risks.
With a working car and all I may go there soon. I wasn’t about to travel half a day on foot to drag a dufflebag worth of canned food back home. If I’m lucky I will find a hotplate there, I’ve picked a dozen houses clean and still haven’t seen one yet.
Dragged my wheelbarrow with a tank to a nearby gas station and took all the gasoline, and found a nice largely-intact-except-wheels solar car nearby. Stripped the solar panels, batteries and motor off into my cart, and found I need to take some time moving it.
That’s fine, but when I’m about halfway home, a corrosive zed popped out from nowhere.
It spat on my foot before I can release the cart, but before it can spat twice I punctured it with arrow.
Got about 10 pain, did not care much and went back and continue to drag the cart to about two thirds home until suddenly I found that I cannot move it any more and my pain shot through the roof to nearly 100, reducing me to nearly useless.
Ate some painkillers and stood by for half an hour, I can move the cart AGAIN!
And then another friggin’ corrosive popped out. Got spew right on the face.
Repeating procedure, kill, take painkiller, wait, decide to drop the electric motor once I finish waiting.

i 've died too many times due to trying to carry more than i could… pain shooting through the roof with or without encumbrance further crippling me, then facing acidics, hulks, z-dogs etc.
Just found out I’ve been driving around in a car with no seatbelt. For 50 days. All those times… speeding through the fields 100mph with the attitude “fuck boulders, disregard trees, plough zombies”…

and more importantly, how awesome looking is the drifting?
Skill and vehcle mass play a large part in stopping ability.
“s” is the handbrake. At low speeds or at high skill you just stop. at hgher speeds, with more mass, or with less skill you tend to skid. You do ‘drift’, and it is possible to turn your vehicle sometime 180 degrees or more. Which is good for positioning it for a quicker getaway.
using the handbrake multiple times will result in a faster deceleration, and in the case where you lost control of the vehicle a full stop will reset control to you, so if your car has good acceleration this can be a viable tactic.
