What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

You could make the classic dnd black dragon that spits acid…

If there’s a dragon mutation, there should be dragon-like creatures as well, so my elf can feast on their delicious meat.

Found a farm. Don’t really need the crops, except for the pumpkin and sunflower seeds I intend to grow. As of now I don’t have a ton of seeds, so I’ll fertilize those particular crops in order to generate more seeds.

Will probably rearrange the ingredients section of my food storage when my survivor gets back.

ARGHDSGGRGHG. Game crash, which always seems to be from not saving after a stretch of time.

Let’s see… last save was before entering a slime pit. No teleport cheat this time, game in from ground level and incinerated everything level by level. Blob spawn isn’t as insane now. While there’s still a good number of blobs per floor, it’s not the 1000 per floor where you can’t even see your survivor bad. Manageable enough that I torching the place depopulates the area, mostly. There’s groups of blobs who managed to not get killed from the flames by hanging around the edges, so I had to mop them up by other means.

I was already at the bottom floor… another slime pit that’s a full 10 z-levels long, and it crashed.

sigh That’ll be it for tonight, I suppose. Will play some FTL to recover my bearings after this crash and do the torching again later.

And Fema put a camp right next to a toxic waste dump… this is why people dont trust you fema, first Katrina now the apocalypse…

Hunh. Theres an area of bridges and roads intermingled, resulting in a swampy yet interesting looking place right outside my target cities that Id be tempted to build a house on if it werent for pavement being such a bear to build over.

I learned today that at least some water fish are warm-blooded; making dishing a snap with reptile eyes. Ima get a sling out and see it it really is shooting fish in a barrel.

pedit: yup. You can hit them from below water, but being adjacent to them will force them to surface enough to pelt them with rocks. Literally shooting fish in a barrel.

I’ve fished tons of times using my infrared vision mutation.

Just killed my first Elite Zombie Grenadier (always gave them WIDE berth before, since I’ve been told they can toos mini-nuke hacks). I have really high rifle and marksman skills, so I just shot his hacks as he released them until he attacked me himself…

20 grenade hacks
10 C-4 hacks
9 teargas hacks
9 flash bang hacks
1 mini-nuke hack

That’s just crazy. All that, and all I really got from it was… the kill in my kill counter.

With the discovery of a jack in the blessed building that is a garage by a hardware shop (a.k.a. Jiffy Lube), I was able to mostly transform the previously know ‘Light Cruiser’ into the upgraded L.U.C.I. or the ‘Light Utility Cruiser Integrity’. Built on a core of S.U.V, it only felt right to honor her past in her name.

I have been at the city limits for the better part of a day, but seem unwilling to get into the city or really crack down at home-hunting. Idk why, really. Im have instead slept in a field that the fungus fungified overnight, and killed and raided a hardware store in the dark, and reinforced most of my goodies, including a new helmet and gloves and my spear. I got a usp .45 and some homemade rounds from a survivor wandering by and I replace my sawn off beanbag shooter for something manhack and secubot-compatible. Into a nother lab to get a machete so I can has 2 blades on my Luci.

Rescued a steamroller from a group of zombies beating it to a crumpled mass, in the process i attracted the whole neighborhood of zombies I thought i was done for when they rolled up but hoping in to the drivers seat i was plesently suprised to see it in working condition. I got a few success full passes over them before i got a bit careless and slammed it into a wrecked bus at 40mph. I figured i was toast again as i slammed it into reverse and stepped on it, a few minutes later i was rolling into my base backwards with a steamroller only missing a few bits. Been going back on foot to slowly clear the horde i attracted, i was quiet surprised to see zombies get back up after being smooshed flat… but what can ya do when its the blob.

Vehicle damage to items was heavily nerfed couple of months ago. I think it needed to be nerfed a bit (things just went away WAY too easily), but now* it’s almost silly low. I’ve had difficulty destroying things intentionally by running over them multiple times.

  • “now” being “since I last updated, which is almost a month ago now”.

Lava. We need a iincinerator item. Anyone up for adding funeral parlors?

After the game crashed yesterday, it’s time for take two of the slime pit burn job. Took about 5-6 days to incinerate the inhabitants of the pit. Most of it was waiting a lot and then clearing out the blobs that were safe at the edges of the pits.

Also tried testing the endurance of the Sluggernaut by ramming through the solid rock walls of a cave entrance. Not very good. It managed to carve a straight line through the rock, but the damage is far larger compared to going five map tiles of thick forest.

Built a pneumatic rifle next to a military bunker whoel the Zmen played with the turrets. 3 are left alive, and I was picking over the dead when a turret critted my torso for 75 damage from across the depot. Owwies. Gonna go crawl into a hole to lick my wounds now.

Currently considering making a new vehicle. Maybe use a cargo dimension this time… even with the massive volume space it offers, it’s not like I’d stay away from the main base forever. Will add turrets, so I can clear out hordes faster when my survivor is exploring.

Day 2, spring.

The shelter basement had a tent, a lighter and a sweater.

My alter ego went out in a snowfall and found a road barricade with some dead cops, who had some sweet gear, affording both protection and warmth. The gas station nearby had some foodstuffs and a toilet.

During the day, I scouted out a bit towards the town.

The first house I spotted had webs in it. Nope!

When night fell, it was raid time. I prioritized perishables, as I found a whole gallon of milk. Then clothes. In the process, I found quite a lot of medicines, including disinfectant. I planned to pick up a pot, but dawn came. Still missing a knife, though.

I’m back at the shelter, made a scarf to stave off cold. My head is the only body part which bothers me despite the helmet.

(I started a new game because updating screwed my vehicles other than the scooter, making them undrivable. Besides, I enjoy the first few days the most. I have the tactics for survival down pat, but sometimes dumb bad luck screws you)

Related to this, it would be VERY nice to have some way to set turrets to fire at a spot a certain number of times - when you kill 200+ hulks, there’s not enough time to butcher them before they start getting up again, and currently, damaging the corpses enough to prevent res manually is just crazy time consuming (other than with the smash command, of course, but that’s game-time-consuming, and stamina, too).

Also, it would be all kinds of nice if there were a way to tell NPCs to butcher corpses for you (and commands to tell them where to go to stay out of combat so you could produce those corpses for them to butcher…).

Hulk corpses can’t be pulped with repeated shots on their corpses, though. Even dynamite and fertilizer bombs won’t destroy their corpses (though non-hulk corpses will be destroyed most of the time).

Such a shame that you can’t destroy things anymore by running over them a few times with a roller drum. I mean, heck, that’s over 1k lbs rolling under things, you’d think that’ll at least pulp a corpse that’s a fraction of the weight of a roller drum.

I plan to do it, but that requires some sort of “attention span” for NPCs first. Currently they all have a terminal case of ADD.

Yes, hulk corpses CAN be destroyed - I’ve done it, recently. It took quite a few volleys of A7, 2 laser cannon, and a turbo-laser cannon hitting the square, but it eventually happens. I suspect the damage to destroy a corpse is a function of the creature’s HP, so yeah, it’s a bunch.

If steam rollers pulped corpses it should destroy the loot too. So im kinda on the fence with that one my self. Realism vs hoarding tendencies… Man it was a pain in the ass to go back and remurder all those corpses from my little steamroller escapade but some of the loot was worth it.
