What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

after managing to kill 3 hulks, i decided to cheat and teleport away when a necromancer decided to show up and revive everything

the wandering spawns work nicely most of the time, spawning one or 2 nearby but when it spawns a horde things become impossible, especially when it decides to spawn 6 necromancers

Yeah. Evilexecutive has some really advanced high multiplier horde spawn characters he was talking about a week or so ago where the hordes form a sorta shell of masters and necromancers that’s really hard to break through as everything’s regenning and everything’s special from the masters. I think he had it with many, many, many little (and not so little) vehicle based turrets so that he could beat the necromancer’s regen rate.

And it is usually stable, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a non-horde mode bug messing it up 'cause horde’s never cause more than the “cannot spawn here because blah” notifications for me and I haven’t ever had a crash from them.

Neigh?

I’m pretty sure you meant HORDE

:stuck_out_tongue:

Well, that was a fitting typo, I guess. ;w;

very carefully push bookshelves or lockers to block line of sight from the turret to the stairs (and from the turret to anywhere you have to go to get to the stairs). I’ve never seen it literally RIGHT next to a turret… if that happens, well, yeah, you’re hosed.

Yeah. Last i checked they carry about 50 rounds.

If you have serious armor, or an absolute fuckton of bandages you could tank a burst, run out, heal up, repeat.

I have opened doors, and then lead zombie after zombie into the turrets FOV and it works pretty well.
They have 100 rounds, though they occasionally manage to shoot a few more than that, if you count the casings (I think they are allowed to finish their last burst, even if they go over). 12ish bursts of fire, and they’re done (unless it’s been changed quite recently).

They will fire at range 18, and the non-military turrets aren’t very good shots at that range, so it’s not too hard to get them to waste their fire without getting hurt TOO bad. Even heavy clothing can be enough to to survive several bursts at max range. (A good helmet is highly recommended!)

The military ones seemed to have been nerfed in the last month or so, and now it’s possible to occasionally survive a round of fire from them. Maybe. If you have decent armor. Up until recently, I had never survived a single burst of fire from one, no matter what non-power armor I was wearing, and it was almost exclusively torso damage, so they are REALLY accurate and REALLY deadly. (That’s down to one REALLY instead of 3 or 4 before the nerf.) The range seems to be the same, though (18).

WHY DOES EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TILE HAVE A GIANT BOOMER AND WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

decided to start over… again though this time i turned off wandering spawns, though i did up the spawn amount to 2x
sooo hope i can get guns again, that was fun that last time
got lucky with a mutagen and got high night vision, will hopefully make surviving here easier

since no one has posted yet ill just edit:

so i got an internal storage CBM and decided to install it, saw that it had a 96% fail chance, went meh! and attemped to install anyway… it succeeded

When I remember hordes, I fondly look back at the one-man army fight I had with them on an open field next to a FEMA camp. Fought a minimum of 200 Zs in the span on around one in-game day.

Long story short; not sure if it still is, but the pneumatic assault rifle is a beast against hordes. Look at that burst against a hulk. On that fight, I can spot a necromancer in the view radius of my survivor and snipe them out with a burst, followed by the same burst changing targets after killing the necro and killing another zombie.

Latest experimental has terrible flickering in menus-- entire window refreshes each time the selector moves. Annoying.
I noticed that too. A bit odd…
I’m no programmer, but I’m guessing

Do a try_update() on every wrefresh() in tile builds (commit: 78e36709dc5a8d2a4780cad77186bff19a609c88) — satori.jj / detail

is likely the culprit here. Whatever it is, it’s refreshing the screen for way too much. Annoying on my eyes and makes current experimental builds a no-go for me.

dang it this food poisoning just wont go away!

Managed to process all the human meat into aspic and jerky somehow. No more nearby areas that’ll hold human corpses, except the lab. Don’t have the gear to do a lab dive, so I’ll bunker down on the base and read up on all the books.

what does one need to hack these consoles to these closed off rooms in the labs?
i want some guns before i leave and i wasnt lucky it seems to get stairs leading into these rooms

Decent computer skill and some luck. I used to think having a USB of hackpro on hand helped, but apparently not. ;w;

Failing that? Acetylene torch or ye olde dynamite.

Going from very hungry to full eating nothing but jerk jerky. Total morale boost from the meat, with gourmand, spiritual, and cannibal as traits, gives a total of 312.

Shame you can’t turn human flesh into protein powder.

The only way it could be better is if it was elf jerky. o3o

I cant believe ive spent 6 days down here in this lab eating nothing but slimes and stuff X3
and a group of brutes managed to escape their confinement
also
would a sledge hammer be able help smash my way through those doors?
just tried to and it doesnt seem to work, oh well

Night raid success. Basement with pretty much all the survivor gear I need. Like, the entire setup I want, except for a helmet and harness. Light boots and gloves, trenchcoat, mask, so I’m nearly set with that.

Almost died though. The town is huge, and nearly every street is filled with car smashers. Seems like cars explode from zombie wrecking now, which is kinda good since it does kill off a good number of Zs. Got smashed through a wall by a hulk, almost miraculously not getting anything broken - but still pretty banged up.

Managed to kill a hulk only to run into a corrosive zombie that nearly melted a leg off. Then a predator impaled the torso. At that point, I was at the edge of town and my survivor made her retreat a little more richer in items.

Cata elves superior. DF elves I dropped into the circus to attract the clowns into the hole up. It worked.

And both are delicious. :V

Speaking of weirdness, my latest character got elf-a vision from a mutagen, and recently had a generic “strange dream” not long afterward. ;w;

Hmm. Neat. Atomic lamps are back to being sufficient light.
