What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Zombies don’t care for such silly things as subtlety and bluffing. At least now boats can be dragged, so your viking can bring his ship with him.

No, it will be a land-Knarr that spits fire!
Though havin a flamethrower on a wooden vehicle…

That can’t end well.

The game::draw_veh_dir_indicator() method needs to have a version written for tiles mode.

That would be helpful, yes. Add that to the list of things I have no idea how to implement without breaking stuff. >.>

I was doing well. I’d lasted a year, had a full solar-powered workshop, good armor, good weapons, great ranged skills, 8 in melee, 5’s and 6’s in all of the hand-to-hand combat skills. I was only lightly armed, and headed back to my base after foraging eggs and vegetables in the woods, when I passed a house with boarded windows in the neighborhood that I hadn’t remembered seeing. There were thumps coming from inside.

“A survivor zombie house! No big deal,” I thought, drawing a punch dagger and heading inside for some unarmed practice.

The whole place was filled with smoke, but I figured it’d clear once I found the smoker or two in there. I got through the first room without too much trouble, then in the second, a feral predator poked through my armor and I started bleeding. Then, as I went further into thick smoke, I found myself surrounded by a couple more feral predators, grappler Z’s and corrosives, and I realized I should probably take this house more seriously. After putting down the Z’s around me and emptying my RM99, a hulk blindsided me and knocked me across the room. My holdout gun was enough to take care of him, and thinking the worst was over, I headed back into the smoke to finish the house. I was soon set upon by more predators, grapplers, and the like.

Now, I’d been playing with monster upgrades on, but this was above and beyond anything I’d ever seen. Finally, after chopping one more smoker, the air cleared enough that I was able to see the problem: The house that I’d stumbled into was home to at least 2 zombie masters and no less than three zombie necromancers. That’s why everything was upgraded, and I’d been fighting the same Z’s over and over again. At that point, I was surrounded and realized I was in real trouble. The closest exit was a boarded-up window, so I used the last of the ammo in my backup gun to get to my kukri (which I’d dropped) and used it to smash at the window. I knocked out the boards, but before I could jump through, one of the three grapplers behind me pulled me back into the middle of the room, where I was once again surrounded. It didn’t end well.

I savescummed because I have a couple of IRL weeks on this character, but my enthusiasm is a tad muted because I got legitimately pwned. One thing is sure, next time I’m just burning the house down.

So, it’s a bit over 30 days in, and I had to fight a hulk, at least three corrosive zombies, a brute, and two grappler zombies all at once.

At least I got a light tank for spare parts out of it.

Delicious. Meanwhile my bandit has explored the two mansions and scouted out a faster return route from the second of them. Found two labs, so miiight venture into one. Also tempted to slap a funnel and water tank on my drag box.

EDIT: Holy shit, so many mutated limbs to eat!

The sixth finger is the only one worth eating. The others taste of normalcy. My gourmand cannibal is not impressed with the simplicity of the “ordinary”. Or he has a cooking skill of 0 and a tendency to blame the world around him.

Now that I think about it, that doesn’t apply at all.

Welp, I suppose it was an okay run. I’m prolly going to die from radiation at this rate. Wandered into a sarcophagus. saw shineys, and severely underestimated how quickly radiation goes up. In hindsight, I really should’ve put on one of those cleansuits. Radiation’s at 193 and I’m outta medkits. I dunno whether to scavenge for meds like a mad-man or simply accept my fate. Either way, my right leg is gonna give soon.

And not one mutation either. Can confirm, getting irradiated is NOT a good idea.

If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll turn into a ghoul.

But Turning Into A Goul Takes a long Time! Well, Unless You’re Moira Brown…

…Grumble Grumble… Not Even A Damn NUKE Can Kill That B***!

TIL disinfectant heals. Looks like I get to live another day. I was gonna get a mutation, but unfortunately RNG picked a post-threshold one, so I remained human. For now. Debating whether I should head back in and see what’s in those crates or not…

I Say Do It, You Might Get Some Interesting Loot. Possibly A Hat Or Two…

Heracles Heavy is spy! cue the dragonfire

Fine, be that way… here

Laziness prevails, yay. Thank you. <3

Well, I went back in, this time wearing a cleansuit. Popped open all the crates, found a couple CBMs, but no power generating ones. Also found a couple much needed tools. Apparently they had a kinetic bullet puller and a brick kiln on hand, but no wrenches.

Didn’t want to risk hacking the terminal, so I couldn’t power the elevator.

I, uh, did find 2 30 gallon drums and a 50 gallon one… I felt compelled to haul them all back, but to be totally honest, I really have no idea what I’m gonna do with these things… I’ve already got a keg of water outside… Maybe I should fill them all up with water in preparation for summer anyway?

Do what I did: Use the 55 gallon drum and fill it completely with mutagen.

You Could Possible ‘One Up That’ By Filling It With “Selective” Mutagen.
