Ha, I never thought of that, I’ll add that for the description of the mod…
“Mi-go’s, Mi-gone!” Or something similar to that…

Most recent Survivor was going through a mansion fairly early in his career when he recieved that most ominous of words. “Your bite wound feels really deep”. Not having any disinfectant or first aid kits, I went outside, made a fire, and tried to cauterise the wound. Tried. Despite several attempts, alas, the wound became infected. Now things were really looking grim.
I went south, and checked in several houses. Alas, all of them lacked antibiotics. A horde blocked further exploration into the city, but there was a second evacuee shelter to the northwest, on the edge of my starting map, that could maybe have some antibiotics in its basement. Maybe. On the way to the shelter, I ran into a dead scientist party. Checking them revealed no antibiotics or Royal jelly, but there was an ID card. I picked it up, of course, just in case I somehow survived this.
I reached the shelter without any further problems, but first took a quick look at my map. There was a lab only about 4 tiles away, just outside of my initial map range. Well… death or glory.
And so, my lightly armed, moderately injured, infected, dead tired (no time to sleep when your hours are numbered) survivor headed into the darkness of the lab. My flashlight ran out after about 2 rooms, so I kept exploring in the dark. Trying as best I could to avoid the various defenses of the lab. And then, my prayers were answered! I found some royal jelly, and was cured of the infection. I live to fight another day!.
Now, all I have to do is find my way back out of this place. In the dark.
Haerdalas, this is what keeps us playing, the inevitable defeat that is somehow prolonged.
Indeed. And in a nice little bit of narratively satisfaction, the very lab that proved my salvation JUST proved to also be my death. Forgot just how deadly turrets were, and got killed on sight by one whilst exploring the place further.
Today I learnt that burning down buildings is an easy and relatively quick way to make room for large vehicles.
Dear Diary.
Today I killed a zombie who dropped a gigantic aluminum keg.
I imagine he was wearing it, pretending to be a super awesome robot.
Upon realizing this, I immediately regret turning him into paste.
I’ll miss that crazy zombie…

Meanwhile in Cataclysm: Shadow of Chernobyl…
I have a posse, about to venture into a triffid grove. First time exploring one. Emerita’s outta ammo, so I gave her a fungal fighter sting and told her to ditch the gun. Handmade, honest. X3
EDIT: Fuck. I thought NPCs were able to follow you down stairs now? They liiiiiie! ;_;
Raided my third Science Lab on a new character today. The previous two, including the one I escaped from orginally, were Resonance Casacade and CVD Machine respectively. I dropped down the first flight of stairs and immediately proceeded to find the lab finale a room over, kitted the Riot Bots away from the loot pile and dispatched them with my RM99 revolver easily enough. Then found they were guarding an A7 laser rifle, V29 laser pistol, FTK-93 fusion gun, and a quantum solar panel. Defintely one of the best hauls I’ve had in a long time.
Edit: Turns out it’s also an Ice Lab, this place might actually make for a good base. Surronded on all sides by thick forests, got some swamp along with single river and riverbank tiles to the east. The only present issues are Fungal Flowers to the north, a Fungal Bloom to the south, and a Triffid Grove to the west.
I heard their is a chemical gun that acts like a flamethrower, but instead shoots chemicals that are useful against fungals. If you can find that 2/3 of your problems are solved. the last third can be solved by fire.
I was just going to use fire and laser beams to solve all my problems. But I haven’t tried using the chemical thrower or sprayable fungicide yet, so why not.
I singlehandedly stabbed and molotov’d my way through the triffid heart, then led my half-dead allies back to our cabin. Fucking cheeki breeki.
Dear Diary
Today I learned how to build a vehicle.
It was my second attempt.
My first attempt proved that I knew as much about mechanics as a brick.
Because the damned thing drove sideways…
If I am the last man alive, I weep for humanity.
I’m fairly certain my very first attempt to build a vehicle resulted in slapping pedals on a shopping cart, doing wild circles in the street, then crashing because I still hadn’t figured out that the direction keys for vehicle maneuver were RELATIVE, not absolute like with on-foot movement.
The other lesson I learned way back when? One-tile vehicles aren’t actually that practical, because you have no reliable feedback on which way you’re facing, unless you’re playing tiles mode. :V
Ignorance… fun times right?
Still need to figure out how to get that “vehicle facing marker” to work with tilesets. ;_;
Okay so I actually took a break since my last post, but I’m in the midst of creating a new world (I always play by Hardcore World rules - if I die in a world, I delete it and start a new one - Primarily so I don’t have ChazMoth encountering his own corpse), so here’s my current modlist:
Spawn rate is still 1.0, there are no NPCs (not even Static NPCs), so I’ve gotta fend for myself. Static spawn (As far as I’m aware Dynamic spawning is still broken in 0.C? Either way I’m used to Static Spawning by now, though I’d love to be able to take advantage of the Dynamic Spawning grace period again), no Wander Spawns.
Following my world naming scheme of naming every world after towns, villages and areas in the Grampian area of Scotland, this world will be named Crovie.
And here’s my character sheet, using my “Skybreaker” preset!
(Hnnnng my sunken chest and string-beany arms)
Really, all I need to do is be a bit more careful with combat and I should be alright. I still feel a little like I’m cheating by turning Slow and Mundane Zombies on and making the Mi-Gone mod for myself, but there should still be creatures out there that can pose a sufficient challenge to me!
Hnng, of all the times to be on wifi that hates imgur, so can’t see that mod list. ;A;
Ah man. Well, the mods are Slow Zombies, Mundane Zombies, Mi-Gone (I don’t wanna get rid of all the nether stuff, just the Mi-Gos), No Joke Monsters, the Vehicle Additions Pack, and Project Skybreaker (My own personal mod that lets me play as MothChaz).
Also! My adventures of Crovie are already off to a great start.
How about I don’t go out that way.
